I had a major victory against Death Guard, major victory against a deathstar Tyranid list, and got massacered by Green tide. I tried my hardest to stay away from the orks but he killed a vindicator, Baal pred, a razorback, and a 5 man assault squad. I managed to kill kammandos with Snikrot, a boys mob, and a unit of Gretchen. It was 10 kp's to my 3. If it weren't for the modified kp's I might have placed. Oh well, overall, I had fun. Tyranids have a deathstar list? I finished second over all. I am going to tip my hat off to brothermoses, he played the best I have seen him every played. It said so in the Ard Boyz rules that Blood Angels 2010 was allowed. If they complain about "it's new, no ones played against it yet", complain endlessly if you are playing against Tau, Dark Eldar or Inquisition, or some other army you have never faced before. I played Sister for the 1st time durring the 3rd Round... Only one unit got it between those two games, and it was a 5 man combat squad with a lascannon. Played a game last night, forgot to roll for it too. I don't even know who is running it. I wasn't planning on going to it in the first place. All this did was give me a legitimate reason not to go. Wow really? I overslept due to shenanigans the day before, but now I guess it worked out since I would have been owned by that anyways. Besides, the guys from our local store said that the one close to us was totally BS. The Judges played, and attempted to rig the schedule for easy massacres. Our guys still managed to move on to the next round though. Opponent was orks, Not absolutely sure on his list but I'll post what I thought it was Ghaz Thraka Mekboy w/5 burnas in battlewagon, big gun (str8 ap2) 5 nobs w/ painboy in battlewagon, big gun (str8 ap2) 2x 10 man squad of boys in truck, one with power klaw, other with big choppa 3 warbuggies (1 squadron) 3 killakans w/ 1 rockit, 1 scorcha, 1 big shoota (1 squadron) 30 slugga boys w/ mad dok grotsnik, big shoota, rockit, nob with power klaw 30 slugga boys w/ big shoota, rockit, nob with big choppa 30 shootaboys w/ nob with big choppa 10 warbikers. EVERYTHING HAS CYBORK BODY!!!!! god that was annoying We roll of and he chooses to go first, yay! I wanted 2nd so its to my favor, he doesnt realize. In this game I made a few mistakes as well and i'll point them out as I get to them. The 2 P's on the left were out of LoS. All the black is terrain, circles are craters, rectacgles are short walls, except those in front of the pred and the one in front of the BW with burnas. The white is a passageway through terrain, a gate. Orks turn 1 Yes ghaz is on his own, he moves all his boys up, trukks up, buggies up, killakans up, bikers up, leaves the BW's in the back, interesting... He then proceeds to shooting phase. His bikers manage to glance the crap out of my razorback and I fail my 5+ cover saves from dreads and he gets a weapon destroyed.. boo! Everything else in his army however focuses on the left most rhino, I pass a good amount of 5+ cover saves but still end up as Stunned, cant move or shoot. KP orks 0 BA 0 BA turn 1 I move my 2 left friends 6" out, zoom most of my moveable rides 18" forward (some 12" and disembark), meph and dreads fly behind them. Meph fleets and is well within charge range of the bikers who lack any kind of big choppa or power klaw. My 2 preds on the left fire, one on the warbuggies, another on the truck. I get a weapon destroyed on the truck, and an immobilized on one of the buggies which kills it. Far right pred fires at the blob of boys on the right and does some casualties. The boys who were disembarked in the middle shot 2 meltas at truck and explode it. Ramshackle made it not go anywhere. Boys got charged by my libby dread. Bikers got charged by mephiston and libby dread. 10 man boys are killed off, bikers are beaten and forced to fall back and meph runs them down. Everything consolidates forward. KP orks 0 BA 7 Orks turn 2 His left most truck zoomes forward 13" and disembarks, everything but BW zooms forward. He pours more fire into the left most rhino and immobilizes it this time. Everything else kinda wiffs. His truck boys charge my pred and manage to wreck it, damn. KP Orks 3 BA 7 BA turn 2 I roll for reserves and I get 1 baal, and this one comes in on the right flank. I move it " and can get a rear shot on his BW! Meph flies towards the BW, Rhino squad on the right moves 12" pivots and disembarks my marines into a firing line at the BW, barely inside 12". Razorback squad disembarks and move towards the warrior blob, supported by the dread. Razorback moves back to avoid being shot at. Marines in immobilized rhino disembark and move towards crater, razorback and last rhino re-embark and move up 18" and pop smoke, immobilized rhino pops smoke too, in fact all rhinos popped smoke. Shooting phase wooo!! Baal pred unloads on rear of battlewagon exploding it. I ask him how many guys are in it, he says 5... -.- wth okay I roll and wound 4 of em, he takes his save and I kill 2, 3 guys left! Firing line shoots into them with 2 meltas and 8 bolt pistols, I kill them all. Meph was standing there with a butter knife and dinner fork and a bib. no meal so he runs 5" through the white gate, oh look 30 boys! My pred on the right shoots into the boys blob some more to soften them up and kills a few. My last pred on the left, I made a mistake on, I moved it 6" to unload truck, very bad mistake, should have zoomed it 18" to shoot at it some more later. But at least I destroyed the truck. Assault phase, Meph, priest squad, and dread charge the boys blob, after the carnage was done there was about 9 boys left (grumble grumble cybork body) with no casualties in return (woo fnp) So he has a ld-129387392, and of course fails, meph catches them and wipes them out. I consolidate towards him. dread leading the way with his AV 13 KP Orks 3 BA 15 Orks turn 3 He decides to disembark his nob squad and move them down the flank, and doesnt move his last BW again. buggies zoom forward, killkans and ghaz move forward, boys move forward. sense a theme eh? Shooting!! Everything unloads into the immobilized rhino, thanks to smoke he only gets a weapon destroyed lol Super rhino!!! He assaults ghaz and his middle 30 man boys blob into one of my middle rhinos, and his trukk boys assault my pred on the left. Pred on the left is immobilized and turret destroyed. crap. The 30 boys glance the crap out of my rhino despite needing 6's to hit, and cant manage to do more than... can't shoot. Ghaz's turn!! he rolls, 2 hits!!! str10 so he auto pens, so we decide to just roll on the chart.. 1 and 3. He ferociously rips off my stormbolter and.. i can't shoot. (btw this rhino is the one with a priest in it) KP Orks 3 BA 15 BA turn 3 I roll for reserves and get 1 more baal (they do love coming in piece meal) and this time it comes on the left!!!! What do you know, I can move it 6" and get rear shots on the other battlewagon! Far right pred zoomes 12" over the barracade to try and give some shooting support to the left pred. Weapon destroyed rhino zoomes back 8" disembarks. Every one else on foot that can move towards thraka does. Shooting is fairly weak. I managed to kill 2 trukk boys. And with like 6 meltas shooting at ghaz, I managed to wiff or roll 1's to wound on all but 2, he passes an invul. ghaz is down to 3 wounds. I charge a libby dread into the kans squad, Meph goes into the boys squad, other libby dread goes into the boys squad, and 20 marines charge into ghaz. Libby dread in combat with the kans gets 3 hits, 3 pens, wreck, weapon destroyed and stunned. So I killed one kan, neutered another, and made the only kan that can hurt me have 1 less attack, he does nothing to me, woo. Other libby dread and meph rip into the boys killing most, but they are still fearless, and suffer more casualties. 20 Marines wail into ghaz, he calls his waaaagh, and I can't really get past his 2+ save. Well I can, just not enough to kill him, ghaz is at 2 wounds now. And cleaves 3 marines in half. I pass my leadership on both squads (wish I remembered to roll for red thirst). His trukk boys finish off the immobile pred KP Orks 6 BA 18 Orks turn 4 Well with ghaz's waaagh in, and everything fleeting 6" he moves his nobs back to intercept my baal pred. He hides his trukk boys back behind one of my pred wrecks. and His last blob of boys moves towards meph but cant really charge cause he's surrounded. His warbuggies shoot into my weaponless immobilized rhino and manage to finally wreck it, sad face. In combat Meph and the dread finish off the boys and run them down, and my angels bounce off ghaz, time for the fists. Ghaz cleaves 2 more marines and my sgts take a swing at ghaz, 3 hits, 2 wounds. He rolls for his 2+ invul and SNAKE EYES!! The beast of armageddon is down!!! My black templars would have been proud. I consolidate towards meph. Oh, his nobs catch my baal and with so many power klaws and only needing 4+s to hit, he destroyed it, drat. was at least worth the trade, a baal for a BW. Libby dread vs kans. I roll to hit and get 2 hits, 2 pens. I forgot to let him assign them and roll a weapon destroyed and stunned. So he puts the weapon destroyed on the gimp and stunned on the power klaw kan. Crap. Well his immobilizes me. phew. KP Orks 12 BA 21 BA turn 4 I moved my right pred towards his trukk boys again (should have kept it back). I get my last baal from reserves and it comes in from the right. Both baals zoom 18" over terrain to get towards the nob squad. Meph and libby dread goes towards the boys, I was too overconfident hear since meph and libby dread had killed so many boys before, so I moved an assault squad towards the middle and another towards the deployment for battlepoints. My 10 man firing lane that helped wipe out the burnas were already in their rhino and parkin at their deployment, forgot to mention that. Sang priest squad moves up to support meph with fnp. My marines in the middle were actually close enough to shoot the buggies, so I pop 2 meltas at them and manage to immobilize one (another destroyed). My spare priest squad shoots their hair dryer and melta gun at the last buggy, hair dryer is out of range but the melta manages to immobilize it. Since its no longer a squadron it isnt destroyed, but its enough that my angels in the middle are close enough to assault. auto hits on armor 10 with krak grenades = dead. Meph and dread charge the last blob of boys. And I roll like absolute crap. Meph wounds 3, kills 2 (grumble grumble cybork body), and dread does nothing with his invuls. His power klaw nob is forced to attack the dread, snikrot is not in base to base with anyone, and his boys manage to put a wound on meph! Libby dread versus kans, I roll and I still didnt make him assign, but I get a weapon destroyed and an explode. So I gimp his effective kan and kill the other. He's safe! KP Orks 12 BA 24 BA turn 5 I move my angels towards meph to try and give him support. I honestly dont think he's gonna make it again 26 boys with 5+ invul and fnp. The other blobs had preds to soften them up first. My squads in the middle are just out of range to charge, but the razorback priest squad near his deployment was close enough. I zoomed my baals 12" towards his nobs and unload on em with asscannons and killing 2. My last pred moves 6" towards his boys and bringing them down to 3. Combat ensues and he manages to pop my libby dread with a pen roll of 6 >< if only exploded it instead of a wreck, I could use the help in thinning him down. Mephy takes a wound from perils!! but it was snake eyes, so now im down to 3 wounds. Yes I know fnp isnt really an issue atm but it is now that I charged him with the sang priest squad. I cut a swath into the orks but there is still so many. Did I mention I forgot to make his no retreat saves for 2 combats now? KP Orks 15 BA 24 Orks turn 6 Orks waagh, oh crap, I forgot they had a normal waagh left. His trukk boys move and run, and crap they are within 5" of the pred. Nobs move and run and are 7" from my baals, thank god. I don't want him punching me in the baals with his power klaws. Combat ensues and grotsnik is finally in combat with my sang priest, and he squishes him. My angels cut down some more orks, his power klaw does 2 wounds to meph. He's down to 1 wound!! Trukk boys manage to blow the turret off my pred but not immobilize or destroy it. Libby dread plays chess with killa kan. KP orks 16 BA 24 BA turn 6 Troops move to support meph, my baals bust a nut on his nobs and brings them down to 2 nobs, drat. Pred moves back 6" and unloads on boys and brings them down to a 1 wound nob!!!! arggh so close to a kill point. I charge my 10 man squad of angels into the orks. No furious charge is around however (did I mention I wish I remembered to roll red thirst, all day?) I use preferred enemy psychic power on meph, and I am too scared to try and roll for sanguine sword. I have 3 boys to one side with a hidden claw, and grotsnik on the other. I should have chosen the boys, but I attacked grotsnik hopping to cause enough wounds to kill him and that my angels would finish off the orks. I cause 1 wound on grotsnik... (really wish I had gotten sanguine sword up) and my boys manage to kill 2 orks leaving his nob up. Grotsnik finish's off mephiston (my innerself cried out nuuuuuuuuuu). And his nob cleaved some angels. He won combat by 1, I roll for leadership on 2 squads. 9 and 11.... Both are falling back!!! He chooses to pursue!! YES!! He catch's me YES!!! And they shall know no fear!! I only take no retreat saves and they arent wiped out. Ork player is surprised! I guess he doesnt play against alot of marines. Libby dread finally punches last killa kan in the face and kills it. KP Orks 19 BA 24 Major Victory! I made lots of mistakes here, If I had kept my preds back, I could have avoided losing those 6 kill points and also maybe soften up that last 30 man blob before meph charged, but live and learn. Also I had 11 play test games with this list before the tournament and this was only the 2nd time Mephiston died. First time was against Fiends. The reason I only have 1 priest with LC and other with power sword is because I only had 1 model with 1 lightning claw :/ My friends call my list a bloodblower list in jest haha. Rules questions were easily answered. I would have liked to have been able to potentially qualify, but as the day of the semi's also falls on the same day as Quake City Rumble (a big Fantasy tournament and I'm flying down to SF for that one) I'd rather do that. Good jobs all around, it seems that BA were fairly well represented. There were 14 people who showed up to play with Most Every Army being represented except any kind of Eldar. I took 3rd with 48 pts overal with a Minor Loss, Minor Victory, and then a Massacre. I played Vulcan Salamanders, Heavy Weapon team Spam IG, and then Chaos Daemons. Now just revamping the list for the Semi-Finals. Considering putting up Batreps if anyone is interested. Liberame Posted June 13, 2010 Author Share Posted June 13, 2010 It's that time again, This time I only placed 2nd at the ard boys semi finals, 1st being Tyranids and 3rd being... Tyranids. There was no way I was getting 1st place in this tournament with the 1st place tyranid player earning a whopping 68 Battle Points out of the 72 possible. I was really worried because I thought the ard boyz tourny was next week, so I just found out friday that the tournament was saturday, got directions to the wrong store (2 had the same name and they are 30 minutes apart). Had no idea when the tournament started, and did not look at the scenarios until an hour before the tournament (yay for leaving at 8am for a 1.5hr drive to go to a place whose tournament starts at 1pm...) The store that ran the tournament was my favorite yet and I now plan on attending their tournaments more often. As per usual I'll post the reports as in short order, I am about to go to my LGS and tell the good news to my friends.
