Ikken
hi i have a question about melta bomz . what is their initiative ? to they strike on Int 1 or the models normal Init ? im my last game i had a lone wold kitted out with melta bomz and a power fist . ( i can't remember why i kitted him this way ) . he got into CC with bajorn felhand and was quickly killed b4 he got a chance to swing at Init 1 with the powerfist . if i had chosen/ remembered that i had meltas would i have been able to swing at Init 4 instead of 1 ? which would have given my guy a chance . Azza007
Melta bombs are at the models normal I. However you only get one attack, If I was you I would give either or as it is a waste of points otherwise. LoneSniperSG
While we're on the subject of meltabombs.. how well do they work on Swiftclaw bikers? Cause I have a bunch waiting to be used.. I don't mean to jack the thread, but with this one going it seemed stupid to make another one.. commander alexander
Melta bombs are useful against vehicles, but I hardly ever get to use them honestly. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201262-melta-bomb-question/#findComment-2398297 Share on other sites
Bulweih
I usually give Meltabombs to Scouts, Sky or Swiftclaws. They work just fine if you have more than one model with them on it. Meaning if the dice don't work right for the first try, you yet have one up the sleeve. For tankhunting Scouts they are essential, because coming up from behind the enemy formation with 5 Scouts and a WG(I always take mine that has 2 Powerfists) I usually kill two tanks, maybe more. On the skyclaws which are kind of my infantryherders, they're a good last resort for IC's and the like, while you can also attack a tank if there's nobodyelse aroud to get killed. On the swiftclaws they simply maximise their punch,or if you have them equipped with flamer and HB make them even more versatile in the killoptions department. By the way, you (SW) attacked Bjorn the Fellhanded???RUSS wouldn't approve... :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201262-melta-bomb-question/#findComment-2398348 Share on other sites
Max_Dammit
melta bombs against dreads is a bad idea, sure you go before bjorn, but you only hit on a 6 if i remember correct. Did he get in 2 wounds or did you forget the eternal warrior rule? not that the fist would have done anything in the end :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201262-melta-bomb-question/#findComment-2398365 Share on other sites
Spacefrisian
Meltabombs used on Dreads can be usefull but it costs 10 more points. Wolf tooth necklace (dont argue you cant combine it gw errata says all attacks in cc hit on 3+). For 10 more points (saga of the Beast slayer) you can re-roll that 3 if you miss. its up to you if you wanna spend those extra points to hunt down walkers. Ikken
yeah i forget why i kitted him with a pwr fist and melta bomz , i was probably thinking of giving him a frost axe and melta combo or just straight pwr weap and melta but made a mistake when i did the list .being a lone wolf and having the beast slayer saga should make him more effective against walkers as he gets to re roll hits . I never use meltas so i was unsure about the initiative thing . the build as i had him kitted out makes no sense but if he had TDA with just straight pwr weap , adding the 5points for a melta bom would make hime more flexable , and keep his cost down. that was probably what i was thinking but goofed on the army list Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201262-melta-bomb-question/#findComment-2398695 Share on other sites
