maverike_prime
So I'm gonna add a unit of Plague Marines to my army, but I'm not exactly a fan of the GW kit for the Plaguies so I pulled out some bitz and built a prototype for a disease marked, decayed beyond reason marine. Thoughts? http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/plague_prototype-01.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201296-plague-marine-prototype/ Share on other sites
blackblade68
Liking it so far, how about some more angled shots? the more pics the more C&C! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201296-plague-marine-prototype/#findComment-2398239 Share on other sites
Draakur
There's so much potential in Nurgle aesthetics beyond "fat and leaking", and I love seeing skilled modelers explore it :D This looks great, the pocked/dissolving armour being the main thing that stands out of course. I like the change from organs etc spilling from huge, sagging/distended bellies to just no flesh at all with the intestines hanging freely :) And while cloven feet are the norm, I like that you haven't gone for it here, more fitting for the theme you're going for I think. Nothing negative to say here thus far, I like it! WingsOfTheFalcon
Looks very good mate, have you just been doing a lot of drilling, or is there something more sinister afoot? :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201296-plague-marine-prototype/#findComment-2398404 Share on other sites
Blackpudding427
Very nice stuff. I like the use of zombie bits. Not enough living dead in 40k. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201296-plague-marine-prototype/#findComment-2398439 Share on other sites
Rindaris
I'm usually not a fan of plague marines, but this I like. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201296-plague-marine-prototype/#findComment-2398491 Share on other sites
Doghouse
Looks good! I really like the zombie marine look. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201296-plague-marine-prototype/#findComment-2398527 Share on other sites
maverike_prime
Looks very good mate, have you just been doing a lot of drilling, or is there something more sinister afoot? :o it's a two step trick. Step 1: Drill lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of shallow holes. Different sizes too. -What I did was take my smallest drill bit and spent about 45 minutes just drilling all up and down the one side of the body. Then I took my larger bit and went back and picked out a few areas and punched in larger holes. Step 2: 'paint' a layer of plastic glue across the holes you drilled. The glue will slightly melt the plastic and give you the decayed look I got here. Warsmith Morenze
I hope your opponents have their zombie plans ready, they're gonna need them. Seriously, though, it's a very good conversion, and an interesting take on a well-known model. I have to agree with the guy who said he preferred this to the Obese Marines available in store. Solid Zaku
It's a great take on a kind of overdone model. My only nitpick is that the holes on the leg greaves are a little too symmetrical. maverike_prime
Since the prototype seems to work out well enough I'm going forward with the idea in building my Plaugies. Here's the next 3: http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/trio-1.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/plague_marine_03-02.jpg Are those ruptured intestines, tentacles or something else? You be the judge. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/plague_marine_02-01.jpg This one I just went to town with the whole decay idea. I really wanted to make it look like the marine was decaying beyond all reason and that really it's just the power of the warp itself that still makes the marine a viable fighter. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/plague_marine_02-02.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/plague_marine_02-03.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/plague_marine_04-01.jpg This one I donno what I was doing with it. I used the tentacle arm mainly because I had it. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201296-plague-marine-prototype/#findComment-2399030 Share on other sites
