Vampyrer0me0
I am basing my great company off Engir Krakendoom, and I am trying to figure out the best way to equip him. As it stands right now I am going to place him either in a crusader or redeemer to act as his longship. I am leaning towards: Runic Armour Wolftooth Necklace Frost Axe Belt of Russ Bolt Pistol Saga of Majesty Leading a pack of Grey hunters with standard and a Wolf Guard leader. Alternatively Terminator Armour Wolftooth Necklace Frost Axe Storm Shield Saga of Majesty Leading a squad of Wolf Guard Terminators. The runic armour one is more in keeping with a preference of rapid attacks while the terminator armour makes them a strong boarding party. Sarapham
I would agree with the first option, however I would not put him in a land raider because Egil Ironwolf is riding in a pimped land raider so it would not be that unique. Putting him with GH in Rhino or giving him a bike would make most sense fluff wise to me. I would also think of changing Saga of Majesty with Saga of the Beastslayer since he is a pure-bred monster hunter, however majesty works because he is a warlord at heart. Blarmb
He either needs a Chainfist or Meltabombs. A boarding specialist wouldn't leave home without a way to crack thick armor/walls. I feel like he'd use a Wolfclaw or Powerfist before a Frost Weapon as they'd be easier to swing in the tight spaces he's normally in. Melta bombs yes, however I think he would use a frost blade since he seems to enjoy his great axes. That might work when your hacking at the limbs of a big squid from an open-topped longboat, but no in the closed spaces of the vessels he'd be dealing with post ascension. Darwinsfolly
I'm quite certain both options would work. His bio states that his Great Company is skilled at both mobile land warfare and ship-to-ship actions in space. I don't think it is too unreasonable for him to have a suit of TDA to use when leading the assault on a space vessel and have a suit of ruinic armor that he wears when leading his company in a ground assault, whether he is in transport, on a bike or has a jump pack. Well unfortunately he is not able to join Space Hulk and has to keep fighting on land :P But I agree with Darwinsfolly that both are viable since we are a flexible lot after all. Vampyrer0me0
I might switch to wolf claw since I model all the wolf claws in my army as large axes with dwarf axe heads on them. I think the claws are cool looking, but to plain and the axe and shield looks really nice on most models. The rhino v land raider thing. I think he is a wolf lord even if he doesnt have a completely customized land raider he still likely has access to them and as the leader of a great company he should ride the nicest of the transport available to him. Now that you guys are talking about him being able to do both I am going to have to convert 2 versions of him... heh. Araith
Certainly he needs the Saga of the Beastslayer. As for gear, a frost axe is indeed fitting, a big axe and taken from a kraken. That's what I gave him at first, but then I changed it for a thunder hammer because I wanted him to be more effective at killing hive tyrants and such. In your case however, with wolf claws modelled as huge axes, that could work as well. S. Bloodhowl
From his background pice I would equip him with this: -Runic Armour (he excels in fast fighting, terminator armour would slow him down) -Frost Blade (just seems useful for someone who used to sail sea's filled with monsters) -Storm Shield (would be very useful in a boarding action and is better than a belt of russ) -Meltabombs (must have for boarding parties and very useful on the field) -Wolftooth Necklace (just 'cause) -Saga of the Beastslayer (he used to sail sea's filled with monster) Another option would be to give him Saga of the Bear instead seeing as it says "Egnir Krakendoom is born of hardy stock indeed." Darwinsfolly
Here's an interesting modeling idea, shape his shoulder pads to look like the the beak of a kraken (look up squid and octopus pictures for ideas). Paint it bone colored and then put his Great Company symbol on it. Maybe try and find a couple more "fishy" trophies to hang off of his armor rather than just all of the wolf pelts. Scrimshaw totems might work. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201360-engir-krakendoom/#findComment-2400023 Share on other sites
