I'm having a problem choosing what CSM army to run.

Well, I'm a loyalist through and through, but Chaos Space Marines justplain amuse me and I love the models to the core, but I don't know what army to run! I do some paint jobs on other peoples models and in return instead of cash, they get me a relevant unit for CSM's. This is so I don't yearn for the payment and can be lenient on the time they get it to me. So first off, I'll give my current army background:

Full Assault Black Templars - I've played Black Templars as one of my original armies. I play very aggressive.

Gun Down Crimson Fists army - With a full Battle Company, I tend to gun down an opponent to nothing before they get the chance to do anything else. I don't play against IG with these guys often.

Fast paced Blood Angels army - Strike hard and strike fast is how I will be running these boys. I wanted rapid deployment and viscious tactics to be the star talent of the army.

Backfield/teleport Dark Angels - This was really just a goof off spun off from Bannus' cheap 1750 army. Nothing serious really.

Water Grey Knights Army - Just as Silent Requiem's Way of the Water Warrior.

Eldar-Zilla - Wraithguard troops, Wraithlord Support and an Avatar of Khaine with cheap additional troops and specialist units.

Daemon-zilla - Kill it with size and near impossible to kill troops. 2 bloodthirsters, 21 PB's, 3 Nurgle DP's

I would love to do something different this time around as my mood of how to kill changes a lot (as you can see). I don't run many psykers so perhaps Tzeentch? I would also like to mix up the unit's alignment. Some of my favorite Traitor armies are the Alpha Legion, Night Lords, and Death Guard. I also would like a fluff based army. Any pointers?

To get something different to my assault marine heavy Blood Angels, I run Tzeentch chaos. Its not the most competitive choice in chaos marines, but it can be fun.

I second this!

A Tzeentch army would definately break away from your norm it appears. Its true that the Thousand Sons arent the most competative army but if u want a Tzeentch army that can be just as competative as any other Chaos force then why not role with The Scourged warband?

I definitely though of Tzeentch and would love a crapload of sorcerors and all that stuff. It would be incredibly awesome and make a asskicking footslogger army.

And I actually painted up a Sorceror Lord as a member of the scourged. So maybe my troops could be Thousand sons and other would be a mix of the two? Scourged/thousand sons terminators or something along those lines. Can you answer me this though, there's a scourged Icon Bearer in the codex and I would love to get that model for anything I' would be using as an icon bearer. Any idea where it's from?

I'd say go undivided, as it gives you tactical flexibility... and an excuse to collect more models

Well, I'm not buying anything so I couldn't care less really for the excuse to collect more models. I've already got nearly 10K in stuff which includes a CF battle company. And I've got the flexibility in a few armies too.

Its simply a standard chaos marine body and legs with the Tzeentchian head and icon which is also included (as standard) in the CSM sprue - one box of chaos space marines will proivide all of this for u!

AH! Why thank you sir! I've never seen the contents of said box so I had no clue :)

be warned about tzeench armies . they are many things , but asking is not one of them . also such thing as a non mecha and playable chaos list does not exist.

Um, what? The "asskicking footslogger army" is really just appearance wise. I honestly don't really care whether it works or not, I'm just doing this for the hell of it. Just have the army and really leave it at that. maybe a good off game or two

But looking through the codex I noticed the "Hakanor's Reavers" and they look pretty sweet. I much prefer the magma reforming armor than the "hear every lie" bit. Is there any info on these guys? If it's in the librarium I totally missed it and I don't trust any other website for 40K information lol.

Not much is known about this warband at all, this is all i know:

They are a warband under the leadership of Chapter Master Prometian who has since been elevated to Daemon Prince status and now goes under the pseudonym of Hakanor. Their armour seems to constantly burn with a magical heat which makes their armour crack away and reform just like lava would.

Unfortunately apart from that, i dont think there is anything else written about them.

That sucks, they look like they could be a lot of fun but with no background I have no idea where to go with it! :HQ:

I took traits I likes from a few armies and made my own army fluff for them. I started with my lord and built around the parts from armies i liked and let it develop itself from there.

You you have a bunch of different paintjobs or something? I was thinking of doing that myself since it seems the "warbands" (awful) tend to run around forming alliances and breaking them.

Tzeentch - The Scourged

The Cleaved - Nurgle

Hakanor's Reaver's - no idea, maybe Undivided

Khorne - Blood Knights (or something similar)

Slaanesh - no idea.

Which army?

Choose the paintjob/look you like the best.

Run with it!!

That's the problem, I like too many of them! :HQ: scourged, cleaved, reaver's. alpha legion, night lords, thousand sons, etc. That's why I wanted to paint some chaos models because they are friggin' awesome. If an effective Alpha Rush still existed, I'd run them hands down.

Not several different paint jobs just the two that struck my fancy were the steel brethern and skayar's dark wolves. sonce they bot have a similar paintjob i ran with it and then to follow in with the chaos god they server I took out the red from skayar's and changed it to purple.
