Mattsama
So I've been seeing a lot of people running around with Thunder Hammers like they are free or something (figure of speach, I know they are normally 30 pts). But for 5 points less you can rock out with a Power Fist. So, whats the big deal about a TH that seems to have everyone taking them like they are made by Willicus Wonkanichus?? Espada Azul
The added effect on Vehicles? That seems to be a good enough reason for many players. Plus modeling a Character with a Power Fist with a Storm Shield just seems...awkward.
SnorriSnorrison
Thunderhammers just look way cooler than Powerfists. Snorri
Eberious
Attacks from a TH against models that fail to save a wound(if they can) are reduced to initiative 1 until the end of his next turn. Comes in handy to get those attacks in, as anything that can not be instantly killed by a TH is gonna be hard as hell. Against tanks, it inflicts a crew shaken on top of any other damage you may cause. Which means it cant shoot next turn. So again making a tank not shoot the following turn is a bonus on top of any other damage. So for example, you hit tank and immobilse it, it can sit there and shoot you,so its a sitting duck. Power fists do give this bonus. Like said, they also look pretty sweet. Took me a while to like em, but never take a termie squad without them. Will say only modeled a few other non termies with them. But that will change with my new army.
Grey Mage
Against a Tyranid monstrous creature it can save you 3-4 casualties. Against a dreadnaught it means that even if you only shake, you stun. Against most other vehicles, it means if they dont pay 15pts more than they would otherwise theyll be stuck right there ready for you to smash in your opponents assault phase. I think its worth 5pts, but if that wasnt enough theres also the cool factor, wich is important to many of us.
Malus the Destroyer
There's the intimidation factor of a Powerfist donkey punch yes. But a lunatic marine with a jump pack and Thunderhammer has all the ingrediants for a sex crime comin straight at the enemies of the Imperium. Was this statement inappropriate? Hmm yes. But was it also true? Ohhhh yeaaaahhh.......
JamesI
I generally go power fists to save points, except in my Vanguard where I have a fist and a hammer to separate them in wound allocation.
Mattsama
Thanks everyone for the quick input. I think I'll give them a shot on a few of my sergeants next weekend!
SamaNagol
Yeh basically they are superior at taking out nastier targets. Play against Tyranids and you'll soon realise why they are worth 5pts more.

SamaNagol
If you think about it though, unless it is an Assault Terminator you don't want to be putting a Storm Shield on a model with a Thunder Hammer or Power Fist

Brother-Captain Lucius
yes ur right that is teh new Raven Guard Shadow Captain Korvidae. Also i always use thunder hammers instead of fists now if i can beacause to use as and example i today i used 10 DC reduced to 8 DC Jumpies with PW, Fist and TH against 5 or 6 warriors all with boneswords and a prime with boneswords Beacuase of the TH DC i smashed them then proceded to help out my furioso libby which was stuck in combat with genestealers and made them run off the boards with their Broodlord.
