Death Masks on SG

To be honest, not really. Most of the units you´ll assault have a LD above average, namely 8-9, if not 10 or fearless. The chance of failing such a test is rather low and 25 points is a rather high price for one opportunity to have WS1.

On the other hand, those units which have a higher chance to fail this test are not worth to be dealt with by the Sangiunary Guard.

Well, in friendly games of course, they are quite nice, but expensive, and I often find myself without the necessary points to buy this equipment.

Stick Dante In with them (which of course you've already done to take advantage of his non-scattering DS and their short range melta weapons) and you have a Death Mask. You only need 1 in teh squad ot get the same effect.

I always thought SG should have a slight edge on the regular veterans seeing as they're the creme-de-la-creme of the BA elites - WS5 would have been ideal. I guess that would have made the death masks redundant though. Having not played with them properly yet I'm not sure if they';re worth it, but on paper doesn't look as if they are.

I think they're only 'worth it' if they can be a centre that multicharges units alongside buddy assault units... but at 5 models, this isn't particularly likely. So, if you've got Dante and a several sanguards, one with DMs aint such a bad idea. More than one with 'em is getting quite wasteful.

Yes, they are worth it! And just to you know, Morale tests are different from Leadership tests. So, doesn't matter if the character is fearless, he still have to do a Leadership test to pass it, because you pass all Morale tests you are suppose to take, but not all Leadership tests.

Completely agree.
