WIP Chapter Master

New thread for the new incarnation of my namesake Chapter Master of my flagship Chapter (old thread).

His equipment has changed since his older Terminator Armoured incarnation. Now he wears Artificier armour*, carries a Relic blade and a Combi-Plasma Gun. The only part that has made it across is the helmet.

* = The reason his Artificier armour resembles Terminator armour so much is because apart from being built with mostly Terminator parts (legs, arms and a cut-down torso**) for bulk, it is because it wasn't created by the Imperium and was in fact recovered from an ancient Human fortress on the world of Nexus during an invasion of said fortress by a species known as "the Keepers of Knowledge".

The inspiration behind the design was this armour from the failed game Hellgate London: Defender Armour

I'm thinking of also adding a loincloth but I don't know.

It's a nifty idea for a model (marines seem to pick kit up from all over the place) and you've done a good job with it so far. I say so far, because I think you should replace/alter the imperial symbols so it looks more like the product of an unaligned world.

Obviously you could say that they are additions to the suit worked in after it was recovered, but that seems like a missed opportunity to me. Also, If you're planing on fielding terminators alongside him I'd consider doing something to his legs to less resemble theirs, but I'm afraid I've no suggestions as to what that could be.

I like it. The greenstuff on the back is a little rough, but the posing and armor come across nicely. Where is that sword from?

The blade is from the Blood Angels Sanguinary Guard box and the handle is from a Terminator Thunder Hammer arm.

Looks good. What colours will the armour be?

I haven't quite decided yet on the absolute specifics but it is going to be a variation of the Falcon Knight Captain scheme. Something like this:

tsmbeta.php?hdt=FFFFFF&hdm=FFFFFF&hdl=FFFFFF&ey=93B344&er=FFFFFF&pi=A6A8AF&nk=202020&cht=202020&ch=202020&abs=202020&bt=202020&btd=7B3370&cod=202020&ull=202020&lk=202020&lll=202020&lft=202020&url=202020&rk=202020&lrl=202020&rft=202020&sl=7B3370&sli=202020&sr=7B3370&sri=202020&ula=202020&lel=202020&lla=202020&lh=202020&ura=202020&rel=202020&rla=202020&rh=202020&eg=FACB63&sk=FACB63&rta=202020&lta=202020&lhd=202020&rhd=202020&ct=7B3370&cts=7B3370&camh=202020&camb=202020&cams=202020&caml=FFFFFF&brc=423B35&rb=202020&gr=A6A8AF&bg=FFFFFF&grid=TRUE&

I'm going to be removing the symbol on the knee, but I want to keep the chest eagle part (the wings are important to the falcon symbolism) and the skull on the belt (because skulls are fairly generic). Without massive green stuff skills I don't think I would be able to change them up beyond what they are now.

Also, If you're planing on fielding terminators alongside him I'd consider doing something to his legs to less resemble theirs, but I'm afraid I've no suggestions as to what that could be.

The original plan was to fill the spaces around the thighs and back of the legs with green stuff but as you can see from the top of the armour, I'm not particularly skilled with green stuffing. I did try a test run with blue tack but that looked horrible (due to it sticking to the tool). What I could do is cut away the straight tubelike bits but I don't know whether that would damage the desired bulkiness.

So, will his helmet be white like your termies, or are you going to do it a little different so he stands out more?

Terminators don't have white helmets apart from the First Company Captain (white indicates Captain rank, whilst gold represents Veterans/Terminators). I haven't really decided how I'm going to approach the Chapter Master's helmet though. It may end up white, or white with a gold stripe or even another colour altogether.

Maybe give him a silver helmet? One that's almost white. It'd make him more striking, but would still mark him out as being a veteran.

Unfortunately silver is already used aswell...

Sergeant - Silver stripe

Veteran Sergeant - Silver helmet

Command Squad Marine - Gold stripe

Command Squad Veteran Sergeant - Silver helmet + Gold stripe

Veteran - Gold helmet

Veteran Squad Veteran Sergeant - Gold helmet + Silver stripe

Captain - White helmet
