THE_Lim_Dul
I went to Gnome Games in Green Bay yesterday for 'Ard Boyz. I took second place there at last year's 'Ard Boyz with my Blood Angels, and achieved the same result this year. There were quite a few Blood Angels players there, but mine were the only marines to place. First place went to a mech IG army (not leaf-blower), and third went to a Tyranid army. My List: HQ [100] Librarian: Shield, Unleash Rage [130] Reclusiarch Elite [175] Priests: 3, 1 with PW & Hand Flamer [471] Assault Terminators (5-man: 1 TH/SS. 4 Paired LC) Land Raider Redeemer: Multi-Melta, Extra Armour, Searchlight ---- Priest and Libby [471] Assault Terminators (5-man: 1 TH/SS. 4 Paired LC) Land Raider Redeemer: Multi-Melta, Extra Armour, Searchlight ---- Priest and Reclusiarch Troops [448] Assault Squad (9-man. Power Fist, Meltagun) Land Raider Godhammer: Multi-Melta, Extra Armour, Searchlight ----- PW-equipped Priest [235] Assault Squad (10-man, Power Fist, 2 Meltaguns) [235] Assault Squad (10-man, Power Fist, 2 Meltaguns) [235] Assault Squad (10-man, Power Fist, 2 Meltaguns) My opponent for scenario 1 was an ork army. His list: Warboss (PK, Bosspole, Cybork) Big Mek (KFF) Nobs (10-man: Banner, 2 PK, 1 Big Choppa, Painboy, Cybork, Stikkbombs, 2 Bosspoles --- almost every model equipped differently) with Battlewagon (Big Shoota, Armour Plates, Boarding Plank, Deffrolla) Shoota Boyz (20-man: 2 Big Shootas, Nob with PK/Bosspole) Slugga Boyz (20-man: Nob with PK/Bosspole) Slugga Boyz (19-man: Nob with PK/Bosspole) Trukk Boyz (12-man: Nob with PK/Bosspole) Trukk (Ram, Boarding Planks) Trukk Boyz (12-man: Nob with PK/Bosspole) Trukk (Ram, Boarding Planks) Deffkoptas (2 with TL Rokkits and 1 Buzzsaw) Lootas (10) Lootas (10) Kommandos (10-man: Snikrot, 2 Burnas) 3 Battlewagons (Big Shoota, Armour Plates, Boarding Planks, Deffrolla) 5 objectives were placed in an X pattern, and I won first turn. He failed to seize the initiative. We each set up more or less in opposite corners of the board. His trukk boyz, deffkoptas and kommandos went in reserve. I forgot to make my red thirst rolls this game! Gah! Turn 1: I shifted my tanks a bit to get shots on the wagons. Only one could see and shoot at the big mek's ride, but none of my shooting had any effect. The orks moved forward at top speed with the battlewagons, and lootas fired at my assault squads. I think he might have killed a single marine after the saves and feel no pain rolls. Turn 2: I decided to play it safe and backed off a few inches to keep his tanks from being able to ram me with those deffrollas. My shooting was ineffective this round as well due to that KFF. Snikrot's kommandos and the deffkoptas arrived from reserve. The deffkoptas came in on the short edge closest to me and killed one marine with a well-placed rokkit. The casualty I removed put my squad out of assault range for the 'koptas. The lootas took out another marine with all their combined fire. Snikrot's squad charged another of my assault squads. My dice rolls were pathetic, and his were good. By the end of his assault phase on turn 3 he wiped out the squad with few casualties. The battlewagons rolled up closer, with all the boyz staying embarked. Turn 3: I knew there was no more backing up. It was time to move in and hope for good shooting to pop those wagons and assault the orks within. My two redeemers moved forward, disembarking both assault terminator squads (one with reclusiarch and priest, the other with libby and priest), and one jump pack squad moved forward as well within melta range. My other land raider stayed back to cover an objective and lined up those lascannons on the side armour of battlewagons. The squad within disembarked and shot the deffkoptas down. Massed shooting saw poor results. I didn't do any significant damage to the wagons. I managed to immobilize the warboss's battlewagon and wreck the slugga boyz' wagon on the charge. Both of his trukk boyz arrived, one near the far objective in his deplyment zone, and the other came near my land raider that was hanging back. He tried to deffrolla ram my land raiders with a battlewagon, but 2 1's in a row immobilized it (he was in DT) before it could get to me. The boyz from the wrecked wagon charged one land raider, doing nothing to it, and the warboss and his nobs stayed inside their immobilized wagon. The trukk boyz charged my land raider and did nothing. Snikrot and his fellows finished off my assault squad. Turn 4: I moved my foot-slogging assault squad (with PW/HF priest) around the land raider and shot at the trukk boyz, killing some but they didn't run, so I wiped them out in assault. I moved a jump pack squad near snikrot and his kommandos, and backed a redeemer off to thin them out and block movement to my home objective. Snikrot and his kommandos were wiped out from shooting. The libby's assault terminator squad moved to assault range of the warboss and his nobs, and so did one assault squad. The resulting assault did not go well for me, but it tied up the warboss and his nobs for awhile. The reclusiarch's squad moved to be able to dual-assault the slugga boyz (from the wrecked wagon) and the immobilized wagon (with shoota boyz inside). Between a well-placed flamestorm cannon and a charge, I managed to wipe out the slugga boyz, and the TH terminator blew up the immobilized wagon. They consolidated close to the nearby objective. I had no hope of claiming it, but I aimed to contest it. My land raider fired off a couple lascannons at the far trukk, blowing it up, killing and pinning the boyz that were within. He moved the Big Mek's wagon (blocked off from ramming me by a wrecked one) near the warboss and disembarked the boyz to support them in assault. The shoota boyz from the exploded wagon that the TH had destroyed fired at that terminator squad and then assaulted them. Three terminators died in total, killing only an equal number of orks in return. Pathetic results on my part there. Lootas shot at the marines that had killed the trukk boyz, killing one. The nearby trukk moved to contest the objective. The assault between the warboss, his nobs, the slugga boyz that just joined them, and my assault terminator squad, libby, and assault squad went from bad to worse. My remaining troops dwindled, but held him there. Turn 5: I backed off my other land raider redeemer to form a wall protecting my home objective. I fired at the trukk with my land raider and blew it up. The foot assault squad moved to claim that objective. My last remaining jump pack squad moved to claim my home objective. The assault phase saw my libby, terminators and assault squad destroyed by the warboss, nobs and boyz. The reclusiarch and his terminators were cut down to just the reclusiarch, who was still in position to contest that objective, if he could only survive three assault phases on his own against about 14 shoota boyz and a PK nob. The slugga boyz form the big mess in the middle moved to claim the center objective. The boyz from the exploded trukk that had been pinned before moved to claim their home objective. The warboss and his nobs moved very slowly through DT towards the LR wall in front of my home objective. My reclusiarch survived on his own against the shoota mob, taking one wound from regular attacks, and the PK nob missed with all 3 swings. Turn 6: I tank shocked the nobs and center slugga boyz with my land raider redeemer, hoping to contest the center obbjective, but it was 1" too far away. My other redeemer moved to take its place, preventing the nobs from having any hope of contesting my home objective. My assault squads stayed pat, holding down the two objectives that I could claim. Shooting was pretty inconclusive. Some boyz died here and there, but not enough to shake them. In the assault phase my reclusiarch survived, making all saves including an invulnerable save against a PK hit. His turn 6. At this point, we knew that I claimed two objectives for sure, and so did he. One objective was contested by my reclusiarch alone. All that mattered now was whether or not he survived the turn. The shoota boyz failed to wound him. The PK nob hit twice, and wounded once. I rolled my invulnerable save .... a 4! The game was a very well-fought tie that was a lot of fun. I knew that if I was going to place, though, I'd have to clean up in rounds 2 and 3. I did score about 1200 victory points, and he claimed about 750. I'm out of time to type for now, but when I do have the time I'll post reports for my second and third battles. I know I killed the suspense a bit by stating at the beginning that I took 2nd place in the tournament, but the other battles were fun, too (though very one-sided in my favor). THE_Lim_Dul
I just noticed the facebook page for Gnome Games had a couple pics of me playing up. Here's one from my battle vs the orks (I'm the guy in the Blind Guardian shirt). I believe this was bottom of turn 2, shortly before the kommandos assaulted me. http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs605.snc3/31846_443901460759_97195180759_5727466_5598426_n.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201620-ard-boyz-in-green-bay-wi/#findComment-2402069 Share on other sites
