Jarakin
Hi guys, I'm looking for ideas/inspiration for modelling a libby. I've been looking at GW's offerings below and I'm finding that I'm more tempted to attempt to kitbash something than purchase one of these: http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1240900_99060101339_SMLibrarianstaffandbookmain_873x627.jpg http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1240895_99060101338_SMLibrarianswordboltpismain_873x627.jpg http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1240855_99060101326_DAEzekielmain_873x627.jpg However, I do like Ezekiel - is he too iconic to get away with a small amount of conversion work to make him a bit more BA-like? I think other than Ezekiel, my favourite above is the Power Axe model... I don't think I'd take the plasma pistol though, but that wouldn't be hard to convert. I just feel a little "meh" with these models in general though, don't know why... Maybe it's because I saw this!: http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2008/11/29/9347_md-Cloak,%20Conversion,%20Freehand,%20Librarian,%20Space%20Marines.jpg Anyway, I'd love to see pics of your Librarians or others you've seen that look awesome, or hear any ideas you might have on some newbie-friendly kitbash/conversions! Cheers guys  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201672-libby-models-looking-for-inspiration/ Share on other sites
Jønke
I made this faily simple librarian conversion. http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t94/jesperplougmann/IMG_0674.jpg Was hell getting rid of all the um symbols though. tahrikmili
I have the model at the middle: Searched long and hard for it. It's my favorite librarian model, even though it's an early 3rd Edition model. I think it looks really sweet. JamesI
tahrikmili, I use the same model with a DC jump pack as my Librarian. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201672-libby-models-looking-for-inspiration/#findComment-2402675 Share on other sites
SnorriSnorrison
I made this little bugger here, mostly out of SG and DC parts: http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/BILD0514.jpg http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/ad309/Snorrinorrison/WIP/BILD0515.jpg Snorri Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201672-libby-models-looking-for-inspiration/#findComment-2402677 Share on other sites
Brother_Dan'l
I have the model at the middle: Searched long and hard for it. It's my favorite librarian model, even though it's an early 3rd Edition model. I think it looks really sweet. (I have a thing for metal 3rd Edition models) I also use the fellow in the middle, though I replaced his axe with Mephiston's sword. Honestly though I do see replacing him in the near future with a kit-bash based on the GK Justicar figure and plastics from the DC. igotsmeakabob!!
I use the middle guy as a rhino-rider along with a RAS, sometimes Razorback. I'm going to use my DA Upgrade sprue to make a jump pack libby, though. Along with my BA sprues... I'm trying to find a Mk 8 chest piece.. can't though! It's killin' me, I must have a ton of sprues but did I use them ALL?! edit: Oh, and that Storm Eagles librarian made me sad when I first saw it a while ago... it's too cool. I think it looks really sweet. (I have a thing for metal 3rd Edition models) Ages ago I cut up the middle guy to do my bike mounted Librarian conversion. It's definitely a sweet model! Jt3n
I'm in a similar boat, my first army is fielding two libbys and I'm doing my best to purchase the right ones for the job. I don't exactly want the same model/pose so I've been looking at options. My current thought is purchasing a Space Marine Commander box (#99120101032) and replacing his backpack and paint him as a librarian. He lacks the scrolls and keys from the other libby models but he has a ton of purity seals and nice ropes on his cape and front power armor. Not to mention I could use the extra bits he comes with for other things in the future as I'm just now getting started. -Jt3n Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201672-libby-models-looking-for-inspiration/#findComment-2403071 Share on other sites

Brother Nathan
That storm egles libarian has given me a few ideas for upgrading my only power armour libby, Thanks! not that i use them but i only really like the termy libarians, bothe the metal one and the one from space hulk, as they both rock, and of course the master of the lot as hes just pure class! kollar
http://www.pbase.com/image/26146078/medium.jpg I always had a fondness for this model. It's not exactly a stellar conversion job on this example (hope I'm not offedning anyone present...), it usually has a bolt pistol arm instead of a Storm Shield in pelvic height, but in my opinion this model looks very good with a Jump Pack on. Was one of my favourite old school libby models. Can't seem to find em anywhere these days. igotsmeakabob!!
I have that one as well.. if only we could give our librarians stormshields out of Termie armor. What I disliked most about that model was the off-kilter skull on his chest. Nice painting job, though. Hence why I hope i didn't offend anyone commenting on the conversion :P. If I got it, I'd probably try to remodel something over the skull indeed... Jarakin
Nice models guys  I'm currently leaning very very heavily towards kitbashing my own thing... Currently my idea is as follows: Nemesis Force Halberd seen on this model (can be bought as a pack from GW for £7): http://www.aetherium.org/images/otc-gkt2h.jpg Left arm I think I'd use this missile launcher arm but straightened and pointing outward: http://www.letthedicedecide.co.uk/pub/files/Products/Space%20Marine/Devastators/.thumbnails/1274116049_SMDV019_w170_h170.jpg Emperor's Champion torso: http://www.letthedicedecide.co.uk/pub/files/Products/Space%20Marine/Command%20Squad/.thumbnails/1270372646_SMCS008_w170_h170.jpg DC legs as I think it'd suit the pose I have in my mind's eye: http://www.letthedicedecide.co.uk/pub/files/Products/Space%20Marine/Blood%20Angels/Death%20Company/.thumbnails/1270212256_SMBA087_w170_h170.jpg DC Jump Pack/Backpack magnetised: http://www.letthedicedecide.co.uk/pub/files/Products/Space%20Marine/Blood%20Angels/Death%20Company/.thumbnails/1270212241_SMBA075_w170_h170.jpg http://www.letthedicedecide.co.uk/pub/files/Products/Space%20Marine/Blood%20Angels/Death%20Company/.thumbnails/1270212288_SMBA115_w170_h170.jpg DC Crusader Helmet: http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk/bmz_cache/6/65264cce83b95ac399cfc9734872599e.image.150x152.JPG Then I'd use a carve a tac shoulderpads into a psychic hood and use some guitar wire too.. (restrung my guitar recently, so that's handy!!), carving it won't be as easy as it sounds, but meh. I have tons of shoulderpads... I have a fair mental image of what the end result would look like, can you guys visualise it? If you can, what do you think, would it work - and more importantly, look good? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201672-libby-models-looking-for-inspiration/#findComment-2403929 Share on other sites
Midnightmare
Hey Jarakin, kitbash rules! My libby uses some of the bits you're going for:- Check out my wip log in my sig if you want to see the rest of him. He looks a slightly different now and have started painting, got the base coat down (blue is much easier than red lol) http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh190/MidnightRunner81/SDC10209.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201672-libby-models-looking-for-inspiration/#findComment-2404038 Share on other sites

Maybe I saw your kitbash before and had the image stuck subconciously in my mind? :) I think I'd maybe take a page from the storm eagle libby's grimoire and make the same awesome hand gesture. The pose I have in my mind is like this, but with the storm eagle hand gesture and obviously the awesome force halberd... This guy looks awesome, lol: http://www.ambrakarate.com/images/boStaff.jpg Edit: Took a look at your WIP blog btw mate - OMG @ your Chappy Vermento... he's insanely awesome - great job!!! daboarder
In that case the one thing I recomend you take away from it is the idea that using small bits together can make something otherwise plain into something that draws attention. I'm specifically referign to the Psychic hood, as they are such a huge focal point a little more attention should be paid to their conversion than usual. For example mine is simply a shoulder pad carved and then the skull form a bike banner and some DA bits added to the top. I recomend practising you're carving before doing you're final attempt too. An idea I had but didn't implement was to use one of the studded shoulder pad's. Yeah I plan on trying a few different things for the hood - specifically I'm thinking of using some guitar wire (which I have plenty of, being a guitarist!) and using it as a trim for the front facing parts of the hood, then perhaps use it as piping into the crusader facemask - quite an intricate task I think, but should hopefully look the business! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/201672-libby-models-looking-for-inspiration/#findComment-2404868 Share on other sites
