First trys and prototypes

Recommended Posts

Okay so I'm building new units for my CSMs. I've finished several models to see what I can put in plastic. Well plastic and green stuff as the case were.

First up, I built a trio of Blood Angels Berserkers:

I wanted to go for more a Blood Angles flavoring then an all out Blood Angels.

Some shots of the individual models:

"ARRRRR I'M CONSTIPATED, EMPEROR  IT!"

I went to a GW Bizarre Bizarr this week end. Managed to trade a bunch of stuff I don't use anymore, and acquired some stuff I'm planning on using. Among the items I acquired was a Khorne juggernaut. Not the Chaos Lord version, the normal one. Well I got the idea to Khorne Demon riders. I figure they'll count as a CSM Bikers with the mark of Khorne. I mean, yeah. The Juggy's big enough to account for the +1 toughness of a bike. Anyway, here's the first of them:

I call it a Blood Rider. When I originally positioned the marine I wanted to make it look like it he dragging the chains to the right to account for the Juggernaut's direction of movement. Looking at it now I realize I should have had the rider hauling back on the right side. Oh well, next model I'll do that. Maybe I can make the Aspiring Champion's mount rearing up.

I also acquired an extra set of Possessed Marine bits and some Tyranid Gargoyle wings. It's kinda funny, but It seems like I'm building a new version of some of my older models.

Check these out:

It did give me an idea to do a unit of 'demonic raptors' and it's kinda leading me down the path of doing a Word Bearers Army with load of Demon conversions in it. Donno if I'm gonna do it or not, but the idea is tempting.

I also build a second "Demon Raptor":

As always; comments, critiques, criticisms (legit and honest only please), and feed back welcomed, asked for and encouraged.

maverike-prime dont worry about not getting replies, when that happens to me i take it that no news is good news, but all the same the raptors are looking sa-weet! the new sarg looks formidable to say the least, the cloven hooves on him are a nice touch too! the old school juggy and rider are looking good too, even though you did point out he was steering the wrong way but to be honest io wouldnt have noticed if hadn't of said so. looking forward to seeing these two painted up. keep going you heretic!

He's not actually steering the wrong way, he's just... steering... the wrong... way... ya know, I think I need to figure out a better way to say that.

He's not going the wrong direction, but if this were a real rider on a real juggy the way the rider is hauling the reins, I figure it'd be about 66% chance he'd fall off the juggy and get trampled. But then again since it's a Khorne rider that would work.

I'm actually gonna hold on painting the Raptors until I get a group of 5 finished. I'm toying with added them to the other 5 I converted way back when. That would give a unit of 10 flying horrors. Besides, they just look cool and having the beasties storm around the board would just be hot.

Hello Maverike,

those raptors look absolutely amazing! Very nice use of those gargoyle wings. They look very menacing to me and I might try those conversions myself. I really like their demonic appearance.

Your juggernaught conversion looks promising. Very nice idea to use him as a Khorne biker. I just think that the rider needs some more work so he actualy 'rides' the juggernaught. Is the rider big enough for the juggernaught? I once saw a similar conversion with a terminator riding the juggernaught and think the termie might b a better fit?

Overall you made some fantastic conversions, I'll be watching this thread. So keep us updated, mate!

That first (new) Raptor blew my socks off. The menace coming from the model is awesome! Very nicely done!

The rider on the Juggernaught does need some work, but it's a promising conversion. Keep at it. A whole unit of them would be most expensive though!

Initially I thought he did look like he's 'riding' it, but now I look at it and it looks more like he's standing on it's sides. I'm not really sure how to address this particular problem. I have the Chaos Warriors Lord on a Juggernaut model and he has a saddle.... kind of. It's basically a bit that sits on top of the juggy's back. Kinda looks like a booster seat to me. Hehe the booster seat of death!!!!

But back to the demonic Mechanical bull. I'm not really sure what to do. I'm thinking about green stuffing a harness on the Juggy, and then putting Riding straps on the sides. That way the marine can "stand" while riding the monster. Any thoughts on that? I'm not particularly sold on the idea myself.

Well the result of the green stuffing will largely depend on your skills. Maybe something like this:

I hope you don't mind me posting these links. They are not mine but I think they can offer some inspiration.

By the way, I visited your blog. Your raptor conversions are very nice. I like the dynamic poses and would be very interested in seeing more!
