Powerweapons

Recommended Posts

With the launch of the current Edition, a few of my buddies got the Black Reach set and after a bit of Swapping minis and bits i ended up with three sets of BR Space Marines. The Tacticals serve faithfully as my Imperial Fists, but i still have 15 BR Terminators lying around, so i thought, why not build a Terminator army headed by Logan Grimnar. Now my Problem is:

How do i get enough Wolfy Power weapons? With an additional Wg Terminatorbox, i still need about 10 for my army. So all you Bitzraiders, where do you get Weapons. I thought about the Chaos Warriors range, but i don't know if they aren't to small.

Bitzsellers are also rare here in Germany. The only shop i know doesn't have a "favourable" reputation.

This is just some advice from somebody who have bought faaaar to many models to many times because I was new in the game and I always spawn new ideas.

You do not want a bunch of temrinators with bolters and power weaponds. They do nothing.

If you get a bunch of combi weaponds then it becomes a diferent matter.

My tip for you if you want power weaponds in to pick out a theme for your army, chose a fantasy bocks that fit that theme and use whatever weaponds you find in that box and use it as power weaponds.

For frost weaponds just stick 2 chain swords ontop of each other and paint them blue.

Na, they won't get equipped just with bolters and Powerweapons,

Typical layout of a Pack would be:

1 Combimelter/ Powerweapon

2 Combimelter/Wolfclaw

3 Combiplasma/Powerweapon

4 Combiplasma/Wolfclaw

5 Heavyflamer/Chainfist

all in Terminatorarmour. Also a part of them will be magnetized, so i can switch weapons. I have a lot of Wolfclaws and Stormbolters lying around to work with, just no Power Axes/swords/maces/halberds/serrated spoons

When building Terminators, always, always, ALWAYS magnetize the buggers.

It's a pain in the ole' kiester, but it pays off big. Even Cyclone Launcher-equipped termies should have their left hand magnetized (right hand can always be a storm bolter, because he can shoot it in addition to the CML). It'll save you money (but surely not the time).

All those powerfists are useless, but you can take the knives from many of the various space marine packs and make those powerfists into wolf claws. My buddy runs his TDA wg with SS/WC. Yes you lose 1 attack, but you gain alot of survivability. He makes up that attack by running them with ragnar. So if you take the knife bits, do some shaving/cutting/glueing, then you now have a wolfclaw on one hand and its easy enough to shave off a stormbolter and kitbash a stormshield.

you kind of got what there is:

-ebay

-online bits stores

-fantasy box sets

-sw boxes

that is really it unless you have friends with bits.

Ebay is your friend in this regard honestly. There are a couple of bits sellers out there that have been a utter joy to buy from..But I don't know if giving you their names would be kosher with the board rules.

I did the same - used 5 bodies from the WG box and six from the AoBR. Glued together those with the common wargear like 1 x twin WC, TH/SS, right hands with heavy weapons, magnetised the rest of them. Powerweapons are an issue indeed, since You only get one with the AoBR, and a sword and axe with the WG box, but Chaos warriors/knights have some nice brutal axes. As for the shoulderpads - I cut away some of the right hand pads from AoBR and glued them with parts of the WG box. I also orders some left shoulderpads from bits site - they costed about 50 cents IIRC.
