Flesh Tearer army idea

Recommended Posts

However Villicate was also right in his counterpoint, where you are only 'wasting' an I4 model and it is also 15pts, so the cheapest Powerfist available. You also get an extra attack with the fist as opposed to putting it on a normal DC.

However I don't think it is ever a good choice to put a fist or THammer on an IC unless they are T5+ or have EW and also have a 2+/3++ save.

This is what I'm getting at. You're right in that he is I4, but I see it as if he has a higher chance of getting to attack even if dying himself at that initiative level, as opposed to I1. EW/high save is pretty much required on a IC with a I1 weapon...

Hmm Me personally think the gold helm just looks plain out of place on a Tearer of Flesh but in saying that Im currently making the Chief Libby of the FT and his force weapon is made of pure bad assery killyness with 3 pronged trident powerblades with a Dualchainsword counterbalance.. but thats completly off topic.

On topic I Thought ALL FTs wore black helmets for a reason and its only one of Swallows books that gave them gold to contridict the old Chapter Approved stuff.

Well yeah, a full black helmet FT army looks pretty badass too. But as I said in the OP, I want to make the entire army out of DC boxes (to add baddassery) and I'd like a way for HG and possible VAS to stand out from the rest of the army. So to add a little bit of golden or other color (I liked the skull white/bleached bone markings idea as well). Another idea is to try and reduce the number of special DC parts on my RAS models and save those for HG and VAS. Adds to the Spartan feel of FT and the fact that Veterans are known to customize their own gear to show their accomplishments.

Hmmm.. blood covered unwashed tabards are a nice thing to add to veterans I think.. ;-)

My FT Dakka Pred "The Black Baron". I haven't primed and painted "The Red Baron" yet, since I've been working on my 40 Assault marines. My red doesn't look correct in the photo. It's basically, Red Gore over black. I have added weathering to the tank to match the rest of the Flesh Tearers. As soon as I get batteries in my camera, I'll have ALOT of fresh pictures up.

BTW, Whiteinferno, I LOVE your Chapter Banner, and gonna try to recreate it myself. Top notch sexxyness brother.

For my Honor Guard accompanying Seth, I chose to use Sang Guard models, mostly just legs and torso's to match Seth's Armor. And a mix of bits from the Command Squad box.

Note to Brother Captain Devlonir-

The Sang Guard and DC boxxes are loaded with so much detail, icons, and bitz, you can make a TRUELY unique and adequately detailed force by combining them with normal Assault, command, Tac squad boxxes as well. It also swells your ranks remarkably fast. 2 weeks of shopping and building, I'm now buried under a mountain of Flesh Tearers needing paint.

Cheers Malus but :) that reminds me I havent finished it... but that should not be a problem, Heh and I am kinda happy the Colour setup for our Rhino chassis's is the same did you copy the "Wrath of Seth"? or have you seen the colour elseware? I will also show off my Libby in my next update so prepare to be in awe ... :)

Oh and I know your Pain with "Red Gore" and photo's it is really quite annoying.

Really love the look of the tank.. absolutely love it!

About the HG: I am planning to mix them with bits from my DC as I feel they fit FT better than the Sang Guard. I will never play the Sang Guard themselves but I have considered buying a box of them to use many parts of the models for a possible VAS with jump packs. It is all just a bit too.. clean and shiney for my taste. I love the DC bits because they lack that feeling and seem a bit more brutal and nasty and Spartan (which will be the key to the look and feel of my entire army).

The only thing I'm really afraid of is the shoulder pads looking out of place on RAS marines, hence my desire to buy the FT shoulder pads and the blood drop BA shoulderpads to use on my regular troops and the FT shoulder pads plus some of the BT ones for my veterans (HG and VAS).

Just one thing: I was considering to in the future get a jumpy DC for this army, to play with once I also get Astorath and play with 2 DCs (1 mounted, 1 jumpy) and some DC Dreads in a different style of army. How are people's thoughts on building a DC with the Sanguinary guard wings? Making them black like Astorath has and using them as his 'chosen' few to fly with him so to speak.

I think it sounds cool! I personally canibalised the winged Jump packs from my Sang guard box for my Priests, Chaplains, etc. As for the Sang guard bodies/legs, they will be painted like Seth's and everyone else's armor. I just think the sculpted armor more resembles Seth's, so they would be set out as "HIS" personal HG.

Whiteinferno, no I actually haven't seen "Wrath of Seth". I just tinkered around with color/color schemes till I found one I liked. Figured since chest iconery, shoulders, helmets, and back packs are black, I could apply that to our vehicles as well.

Aren't Flesh Tearers supposed to be very plain and Spartan looking, with almost completely undecorated equipment? If that's the case you don't want the DC or Sanguard boxes, just regular assault squads and tac squads.

Just a thought.

Thanks for posting this. The gold helmet does stand out and doesn't look silly at all (something I was afraid of)

Thanks for sharing this picture with us!

No problem man, I said that I would to help lol. It took me a little while to get used to it from black hence why it is a bit scrappy looking so I might just change the helm and go back to black as I'm not too sure about it.
