To date I have not been able to field my Lord,As I am still getting the thunderwolf model set up. However...My Wolf Priest Damian (Yes the Damian from my stories) Has Driven his Land raider Through a Monolith (and by through I mean I rammed it,and it exploded). Killed Mephiston in hand to hand combat with the aid of the squad of Grey hunters he leads. Took down a Squad of Striking Scorpions and their lord upgrade. So far my Rune Priest Loki has managed to immolate himself through perils in 2w out of 4 tests...Hopefully he will perform better in the future and get some decent stories going lol.

As for how Damian was equipped...Meltabombs,WTN,WTT,Runic Armor. Given his performance in the past however I am going to start giving him the Warrior Born Saga.

Aye, I'm in the same boat. I'm using Harald Deathwolf as my lord, so I have been unable to field him yet, but I plan on him being a slayer of beasts, meeting them face to face upon his thunder wolf Icetooth. So wargear wise, this Is how I plan to have him equipped;

-Wolf Lord

-Frost weapon

-runic armor

-thunder wolf mount

-melta bombs

-WTN

-belt of russ

-saga of the beast slayer

=225 pts

I would maybe want to equip him with a plasma pistol as well. I think its stupid you cant equip rune or wolf priests with thunder wolves though :)

brother ramses that must of been annoying for the daemon /marine player lol also what type of greater daemon was it?

requiem your wolf priest sounds like hes had some awesome times on the battlefield, i feel sorry for your rune priest though lol everytime he uses his powers - boom

also i havn't read your stories, where could i find them? Ive been looking for some good stories :cuss

I think they would be on the second page of the forums now..the post is Chronicles of the Claw. Also you should definitely check out Warhorse's and Jester's stories too they are awesome.

Yeah..My Wolf Priest has never failed to do well,in fact...after it was done moving through the monolith, they jumped out,multi-assaulted two units of necrons and pushed him into phase out in one set of attacks. The really funny part was the entire time I had the Deciever and a pair of Pariah's chasing the Land Raider around and continually trying to stop it.

He might not be a wolf lord but my Master Librarian Ariman aka Njal was able to kill the nightbringer. necron lord, and a destroyer with one jaws of the world wolf, and later proceeded to pop a monolith with his tempest and tear through 2 warrior squads with a 10 man grey hunter squad.
At Ard Boyz in two seperate games, my Wolf Lord polished of Skull Crusher and also a greater demon. Good times. TDA, th/ss, Saga of Bear, WTT, WTN.

Come to think of it, he also put the beatdown on a hive tyrant as well. He was at the lowered WS from not blocking the psychic power but WTN ftw hitting on 3+!!

Best one that I have had so far was with my biker lord, Ergal Smoketail. he was orgionsally made for fun but he has proven to be a real beat stick. The best saga I have run was in a apocolypse game where he and the one biker he had left alive managed to wade through 3 chaos dreadnoughts, 1 ork killa kan, 1 squad of Khorne Beserkers, and a squad of basic deamons, all with only taking a wound.

He was set up as so

Lord

-Thunder Hammer

-Storm Shield

-Bike

-Runic Armor

-Saga of the Bear

=250 or so I think.

Expensive but I love fielding him and adding to his exsisting saga.

Sigh. Ive not played sence the new Dex came out, and alas given we now have the option to field just 1 HQ, rather then 1 per 750 points, i see my lists with far fewer HQs, and more GHs and toys. Makes me kinda of miss the old dex becouse it forced me to have HQs!

Anyway, my best lord was called Lokyar, he had many different builds, but in the end he stuck to a 13th company, Wolfen Lord.

~Frost Weapon

~Bolt Pistol

~Runic Armor

~Belt of Russ

~Mark of the Wolfen

This saw him with 5 attacks.. 6 on the charge, and an extra 1d3 every turn. Str 5, hits on 3+

Best game i recall with him was vs Chaos Marines, Khorne. We were in combat on turn 1. If i recall correctly, Lokyar killed a Demon Prince, then took a Blood Thirster down to 1 wound before he was over come by a squad of Blood Letters.

Now that i think of it, that isnt all that impressive *shrug* I know he has done ALOT of killing and if i could still use him the same today there would be no question about fielding him.. Perhaps there will be a 14th Black Crusade book in which the 13th will rise again!

Ummm...by Force Organization we can have 4 HQ's....Everyone else only gets 2.

ok i thought of a good build for a lord

chainfist x2

runic armour

belt of russ

WTN

WTT

TWM

fenrisian wolves x2

saga of warrior born

and he'll go in a squad of thunderwolf cavalry :) what do you think about the setup and the best ive done was with logan where in 1 game he went through a blood thirster daemon prince and 2 squads of 5 khorne bloodletters

Hate to say it, but you can't use MotW with a Special CCW :-/ So he'll have just 6 attacks on the charge, but no bonus for the Mark.

As for my Wolf Lord, Lord Tyr in my most recent game he:

"Powered Up" with 2 TWC against a large 30 strong Boyz Mob - first turn he killed 4, his companions killed a combined 6. Following round he had 8 attacks, and managed to kill 6, his companions only took down 3 :-(. But 3 round he went in with 10 attacks, and apparently the dice Gods favored him, for he got 9 hits and managed to get all 9 to wound :) And the remaining Boy his companions took out.

After that, on my next turn, my fully charged Wolf Lord charged a full up Nob Biker Boy unit (why I love Fleet - His bikers were 22" away, so move 6", ran 5", assaulted 12" :P ) Needless to say 14 S5 Wolf Claw attacks on the charge will make short work of even Nobz. He a new tale to his Saga that day, as well as a new title, "Ork Bane"

How his loaded out:

Wolf Lord

Wolf Claw

Storm Shield

TWM

WTN

WTT

Saga of the Warrior Born

Having a Wolf Lord who is S5, 3++ Save, hits everything on 3', and can choose to re-roll hits or wounds is just plain beast. The only thing he hates, and the only unit to give him trouble, has been TH/SS termies. Curse them and their 3++ saves!

Hate to say it, but you can't use MotW with a Special CCW :-/ So he'll have just 6 attacks on the charge, but no bonus for the Mark.

Reading comp, mate. 13th Company were allowed to use MotW with a special CCW, hence gaining a mighty 9 attacks on the charge, or in the later days, on the countercharge. I ran a Lord like that, m'self.

Ummm...by Force Organization we can have 4 HQ's....Everyone else only gets 2.

I ment before we were forced to field more HQs.. now we have the option and its hard to 'make myself' do it.

And Roland, yes, Decoy is correct. Look up Mark of the Wolfen in your old Space Wolves dex, nowhere did it say they cant use special weapons, the reasion they sucked was becouse they could not join a squad and had 1 wound thus got blown up. Kinda like the Beta version of the Lone Wolf.

In the 13th Black Crusade dex, it opens the Mark of the Wolfen up to any HQ in your army, i belive, maybe not the Wolf Priest.

But your correct, in the current Dex, Mark of the Wolfen was nutered, but opened up to be used in basic squads as a replacment for the 2 melee special weapons they used to get.

Hate to say it, but you can't use MotW with a Special CCW :-/ So he'll have just 6 attacks on the charge, but no bonus for the Mark.

Ah I stand corrected! I didn't see the 13th Company piece in there.

My lord :

- terminator armour

- frost axe

- storm bolter

- belt of russ

- wolftooth N.

- saga of warior born

I played a 2 vs 2 against wolves and blood angels, I had 3 termies with TH/SS and 2 with dual wolf claws to join him.

They killed a 10 men blood angels devastator squad. My lord will have 2 extra attacks next round. I maked a consolidate move into cover.

A wolfguard squad of him with heavy weapon, greyhunter squad with wolfguard and a runepriest aimed their guns and powers on me but killed nothing. They charched me and I did my counterattack test wich worked, he had alot of powerfists so I was able to kill his wolfguard. Boss will have 5 extra attacks next round.

Greyhunters used their banner and mark of wulfen etc.. at the end of the assault face I killed all his wolfguards and some greyhunters. Here is where the battle ends because it was allready late. But next round I would help my lord with a greyhunter squad and my other 2 squads would fire on the advancing BA assault squad. My redeemer was still near and could flame his skyclaws to better places.

I must say I liked saga of warior born if they keep charching you.

Next time I will use my lord on this way:

- terminator armour

- wolf claw

- storm shield

- wolftooth neclace

- saga of warior born

3+ to hit reroll to wound but 1 attack less.

my Wolf Lord, Kjaran Coldheart, is equipped as such:

TDA, SS, Chainfist, WTN, SotB.

his Saga kills are listed in my sig. he has only failed to meet his saga in 1 game so far. My two gaming friends refer to him as "Bruce Willis" due to the rediculous amount of damage he has sustained (and mostly had bounce off) during the games he is fielded.

Unless I am mistaken,You cant get Chainfist's unless you have Terminator Armor, and cant do TWM if you have Term armor. Honestly...I would go the Route That I am planning for my Wolf Lord Since it seems we are pretty close, though you might want to do the Belt of Russ and two Thunder Hammers...If you were really dead set on having S10 Attacks against vehicles. Oh god...Now I just had the image of a Wolf Lord running up and Charging a Squadron of Leman Russ Battletanks and taking them all out in one round lol. Now I gotta remember if its crew shaken or crew stunned that TH does.

Storm Shield

Frost Blade or Wolf Claw (I am having real trouble deciding...S6 or reroll to wound...Its a toughy)

WTN

WTT

TWM

Fenrisian wolves X2

Melta Bombs

Runic Armor

Saga of The Warrior Born.

Wolf Lord with a Chain Fist.. now that is one ive never considered before.. lol

My Wolf Lord, Arkul the Red, killed yesterday 16 eldar by himself in an epic struggle:

Firstly he dispatched 6 guardians, then procceded to kill 2 dark reapers, then 4 guardians of another squad, then a farseer and finally 3 dire avengers.

He had Termie armour, combi plasma, wolf claw, belt of Russ, talisman and Saga of the Warrior Born. In the battle he survived a wooping 19 armour saves, falling 2 more and surviving the battle with only one wound left, bloody but triumphant. :)

Not bad for his first battle in 5 years or so...

A mighty Deed and a good Story. I would have given him a Combi melta though..that way you can bust open the transports easier and get to the nice chewy center.

its the best anti-tank combo out there.

the S8 with the extra 2d6 pretty much guarentees a penentrated dread or equivilant.

he was originally armed with a thunder hammer, but the S8 meant he was failing to drop dreads while the WG that accompanied him were doing it with ease.

I bring a tale worthy of saga, and also a vote for keeping your wolf lord cheap - you guys have some real monsters! - Lord Frostbringer (he also has a bike, but thats another story!), on foot:

Frost blade, boltpistol, belt of russ, talisman and melta bombs (he had left his saga and runic armour in the Fang for this one, however thats possible  )

160 points. He killed 4 terminators (he loves terminators!), 8 Tsons inc sorceror ( ok I was a little lucky with the force weapon), a warptime daemon prince and around 15 csms... 1 wound left. I like models with 3 wounds - I just seem to make saves on the last wound!

He has also torn apart ork, eldar and ogryn alike, and with his bike has crushed a number of fabled champions including Khârn, Eldrad, Vulcan and Calgar. I know saga of the bear can save him, but he just seems to do better without it! With 6 attacks at I5 not alot gets to instant death him with his Grey Hunters in tow.

My battle leaders have a selection of feats between them too, and while there is nothing quite like our favourite 200+ point lords, it really pays to keep them cheap (sorry thats a horrible turn of phrase). Don't always give your lord the kitchen sink!

I generally used to run a Lord with Bike, Meltabombs, Frost Blade, and Thunder Hammer, with a Belt of Russ and (infrequently) runic armor. He's racked up more kills than anything else in my army, solo. Sure, he's a bit expensive, but he's never failed to prove his worth.
