teeef
Ahhhhg! Painting challenges...why do you always suck me in and then make me feel bad? :( Maybe it is the Primer Fumes. Well I set an ambitious vow and I am regretting it but you do what you do. A Reclusiarch on Foot A Sanguinary Priest A Furioso Razorback Razorback 10 Assault Marines on foot 5 Assault Marines w/ Jump Packs 4 DC Marines with Jump Packs 7 DC on foot All of this is built and primed. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1192/4609802780_5d23a4291e.jpghttp://farm5.static.flickr.com/4065/4609194983_447262419c.jpg A couple of extra Tactical figs alongside the Furioso. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1033/4609804332_38fdcf4b90.jpg I swear two of those are Razorback/Rhino http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1316/4609196537_afd43f671b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3544/4609804138_4f17c2e20d.jpg The DC are primed but no Pics yet. And there are some more RAS but I am getting full of Pics. And, if painting the vow isn't enough I had to go and make custom bases, mold and pour resin. I decided two razorbacks...heck I'll start the other two and a couple of Baals...might as well get them underway. Oh and since I may want Rhinos or Razorbacks and I might want razorbacks with AssCans or Lascans or HBs let's magnetize the lot. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1095/4609804212_79c5280eab.jpghttp://farm4.static.flickr.com/3379/4609194881_01d3286e2d.jpg And heck your doing some building anyway why not a few more priests and a Librarian? http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1049/4609805012_01ccb9b21e.jpghttp://farm5.static.flickr.com/4055/4609196915_0940f3b453.jpghttp://farm2.static.flickr.com/1053/4609803410_cb7df46dc4.jpg And since you are in the mood why not finish that old-school Blood Angels Tactical squad and the Dev Squad and Vet Sgt? http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4018/4609196027_26c1e57c83_o.jpghttp://farm4.static.flickr.com/3347/4609195897_c48f7abf5e.jpg Remember I don't have the pics of the DC in here at all. :) OK so I may not make it all by the end of the month. Realism has set in...but I did build everything last week and I am base-coating like a crazy nut this week. I will probably not make the Vow in the sense that I am doing a lot more than I listed and I am not skimping on the quality. But by June 1st everything I vowed should be far enough along to make the three-color standard of the old style tournaments. I also painted 2000 points of Ultramarines and Grey Knights in the last two months...but that is another story. :P

igotsmeakabob!!
First, it must have been a pain removing that metal Sang Priest's arm. Second, I'm jealous of your power maul veteran. Third, what're you planning on doing with the Grey knight termies?
BrotherMoses
Remember Brother Teef that the Emperor challenges us that we may better ourselves through His service. Our greatest fear is that we die our duty incomplete and as the noble Sanguinius did sacrifice his life in the Emperor's name so must you make a sacrifice of your blood, sweat, and time to bring glory to Him, our noble father, and the chapter. Bend all of your energies onto the task before you. If you fall short do not despair for you have done your best to accomplish His will. Next week we shall discuss how biting off more than you can chew displeases the Emperor and the importance of knowing one's limits and being accountable to one's word in the light of the Emperor VOTE BROTHERMOSES FOR CHAPLAIN '10! Wicksy
Damn! I dont like to set myself challenges like this. I have to be in the mood to paint. If i force myself i end up doing a sub standard job. Good luck though! I think you'll need it ;)
teeef
First, it must have been a pain removing that metal Sang Priest's arm. I didn't cut the arm. I drilled out his fist at the end of the exsanguinator and pinned-in a power sword. The Honor Guard Priest model has a regular sized marine hand making a fist (all the metal apothecaries do – the plastic one is an open hand. I could have left the weapon off as it is modeled without a CC weapon but I think WYSIWIG is the way to go – and I will be less likely to forget I wasted 15 points if I can see it. ;) Second, I'm jealous of your power maul veteran.I have had that model for a while and it is one of those metal sculpts that is, "better than I could have posed it" figures. Also his armour isn't available in plastic. He is going to be my Dev squad Sgt. with power weapon. He isn't part of my vow but since I was cleaning up figs, priming and base coating I threw him in the mix.Third, what're you planning on doing with the Grey knight termies? The two Brother-Captain Grey Knight bodies are going to be Termie Priests. I am going to paint one red to match my Corbulo and the other I am going to try the white armor. These also aren't part of the vow but I was building a ten-man grey knight termie squad with all force halbards except the Brother-Captain and the Incinerator and that takes three boxes (eight halbards and 9 standard bodies) so I had two Brother-Captains bodies left over. And so I thought termie priests would be a good use for them. I think I'll use one of the standard left-over bodies for a Termie Chaplain but I don't have time for that right now.http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3360/4622079569_2dd5fd2ba8.jpg

teeef
Well they are not finished as I still have some detailing to do...but they are table-top ready and then some. I need to do all of the sacred text indicating on the purity seals and scrolls. Also all of the mottos (man there are a lot of BA shoulder pads with scrolls). I also have to work out the squad numbers and finish the knee pads. The issue of course is by game rules you can have two RAS squads in the 4th Co. but that could be 10 to 20 figures. Some games I will have four 5 -man RAS game squads (but model-painted-wise they will be two 10-man RAS squads, each in 5-man combat squads with the senior brother getting a battle-field commision to Sgt. with Fist). The Vow: A Reclusiarch on Foot; A Sanguinary Priest; A Furioso; Razorback; Razorback; 10 Assault Marines on foot; 5 Assault Marines w/Jump Packs; 4 DC Marines with Jump Packs; 7 DC on foot. Reclusiarch (as yet unnamed): COMPLETE (well good enough to play) http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4056/4657311463_085f2bba2f.jpghttp://farm5.static.flickr.com/4037/4657932478_49645f71f4.jpghttp://farm2.static.flickr.com/1268/4657311209_9185f22389.jpg Sanguinary Priest with Power Weapon (as yet unnamed): COMPLETE (well good enough to play) http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4001/4657311577_d4ebab84f1.jpghttp://farm5.static.flickr.com/4003/4657932220_79e6df8144.jpghttp://farm5.static.flickr.com/4016/4657310937_e38c29a85b.jpg Furioso, Razorback, Razorback (as yet unnamed): COMPLETE (table-top quality, I need to add a little freehand and a bit more detail to all three) http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4053/4657310803_9ac2cb4b71.jpghttp://farm5.static.flickr.com/4066/4657310671_af9de30b0d.jpghttp://farm2.static.flickr.com/1275/4657932950_53fe58f48a.jpg 10 RAS on foot and 5 RAS with jump packs (needed melta and a reg to give me two ten-man JP squads): COMPLETE (need squad markings) http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4036/4657933566_e952da1366.jpghttp://farm5.static.flickr.com/4044/4657312107_697b9bf57c.jpghttp://farm5.static.flickr.com/4028/4657933180_be009f8625.jpg 7 DC on foot and 4 DC with jump packs (needed power fists and and a few power weapons so I can field up to ten-man foot and ten-man JP squads): COMPLETE (need mottos and names) http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4067/4657312829_a9dfb8138c.jpghttp://farm5.static.flickr.com/4021/4657312695_f3780f62d3.jpghttp://farm2.static.flickr.com/1307/4657312469_83aa9d50fd.jpg And as an added bonus I updated my small 5-man VAS (two had no JP straps so I mad them footers and three had straps so I kept them Jumpers. I was sad to dump the four nicely painted right shoulder pads and the free-hand squad insignia but...what can you do? http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4022/4657410995_7536dac38a.jpg And I also base-coated all of the vehicles and the tac, and devs, and the librarian. But those weren't part of the vow so they won't be posted here.
Gridlocked
If I could paint HALF as well as you can..... How dose one go about aquiring resin to make custom bases?
teeef
If I could paint HALF as well as you can.....How dose one go about aquiring resin to make custom bases? In the US you can go to TAP Plastics or order from Micro Mark. This of course doesn't help you. :D But, Adelaide Moulding & Casting Supplies seems to sell the Australian brands of the same stuff online. Your brands appear to be 4PU and Super Cast. The silicon rubber for mold making is also available on their website. Although it costs more I prefer the one-to-one varieties. They are more forgiving and you have a better chance of getting a good mix for both the silicon rubber mold and the Resin. As to the how...I just bought some, followed the instructions and tried it. I did great with the mold but my first batch of resin was all gummy and never hardened. But I was more careful the next time and have been pretty decent at it since. Be brave and maybe it will work for you. Hope this helps, and good modeling. :D
