Kitbashed Torias Telion

Recommended Posts

I've been wanting to run Telion to put an end to my friend's Commissar spam in his Blob Guard force but his model has always bothered me. His sculpt is alright but the weapon has always really irked me. How is Telion supposed to fire ultra-accurate killshots with a boltgun at ranges that exceed the weapon's limits when he doesn't even have a stock to stabilize it? On top of that, where does the extra range come from? From these complaints, I drew inspiration for my own kitbashed Telion model.

It is mostly just a kneeling scout sniper model, with some small modifications. Firstly, I added a beard made out of green stuff to one of the scout heads. I also fit a scope to the right side of his head and then a lens from another scope over his right eye, all in an attempt to achieve the cybernetic stuff he is rocking in the GW model. I know its not pictured but the end result is a rather convincing (and noticeably heavier then the GW model) beard and a meh-quality cybernetic implant. I looked and tried to find a place where I could get just the Telion head but was unsuccessful. If anyone knows a place where I can get just his head, please let me know.

Now for the good part, the Stalker Pattern Boltgun. Looking at the rules for the weapon, I pictured it as somewhat of a boltgun DMR. To achieve this, I fit a sniper rifle stock to the back of the boltgun. I also cut the magazine down to resemble the shorter magazines which aesthetically gel so well with DMR variants of assault rifles. To account for the extended effective range, I gave the weapon an extended barrel by attaching the sniper rifle barrel and added a scope from one of the sniper rifles. I left the suppressor on the end as well because what good is a weapon to an infiltrating scout if it isn't quiet? In keeping with the quiet theme, I cannibalized the drum magazine from a storm bolter to make a brass catcher so that nearby enemies won't hear the spent brass from his shots bouncing on the ground.

So what do you guys think? I'm rather happy with the weapon and the beard, the cybernetic part however leaves much to be desired. It is quite rough as I am a novice model builder, but I think that this interpretation of the Stalker Pattern Boltgun makes more sense then the one on the GW model.

Things are a bit easier to see when its not all one color. Please excuse the awful paint job, I'm an even worse painter then I am model builder. As for the electricity going over his cloak, I'm doing an active camo effect similar to what many people do on their Tau Stealth Suits. My army is MGS4 themed and so Telion's clock is Octocamo. Black on top, tan on the bottom with texture to match his base (which will be done later).

My problem right now is his organic eye. I want it shut because he is looking through the scope but I'm really not sure how to do this. Just a thin black line over the round "eye" on the model? I've been applying a dark brown wash several times to darken the recesses of the face so its looking more like flesh and less like a peach. That eye is still a problem for me though. Any tips?

Finished the cloak, whatcha guys think? Look like active camo?

Right now the thing that is really troubling me is the eye, I can't seem to do it. I don't have the steady hand to do the detail, best I can do is applying one color to the entirity of the eye. Any tips?

For the eye mate... what i do is paint the socket black, then fill in with the flesh tone, leaving a little black line... i find its far easier to fill an area and leave a line... rather than paint the area then put the black line in

hope this helps!

I'll be sure to try that, but what do I do about the actual eye? I don't have a steady enough hand to get in there and paint the white in after the black. Is there a method to paint an eye just black and still make it look good?
