Frank the Tank
Hi, all my name is Frank the Tank. I am new to the hobby (only 2 months or so in) and bran new to this forum (fist post!) but i decided that the 30 dollars for a drop pod would be better spent on a Land Speeder. However my combat strat still requires the use of Drop pods so i decided to design and make my own. To this end i have created this tread to both keep y'all informed and involved in the build process and to motivate myself to complete the build. First the idea: This is my sketch of my drop pod 5 grid lines represents 2.75 inches or a bit bigger than a dreadnaughts base. The inspiration for the drop pod comes from the standard expected drop pod geometry and the halo ODST drop pod. The numbers represent the side or panel that they correspond to in the CAD files. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3207174/drop%20pod/photo%20(3).jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3207174/drop%20pod/photo%20(4).jpg Second the materials: I am thinking lost of plasticard and green-stuff. But i have never done this before so advice is much appreciated. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3207174/drop%20pod/photo%20(2).jpg Third the CAD: I use Solidworks to do my CADing so the only way i can share it is with y'all is with a EXE. I swear its not a virus if it is feel free to lynch me and feed me to your demon of choice. But any way here is a picture of the cad. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3207174/drop%20pod/drop%20pod.JPG Last but not least: Here are all the drawing. The drop pod is designed to be made using 1mm thick plasticard. Also all the measurement are in inches (AMERICA &%$@ YA!!!!!) Side 1 Side 2 Side 3 Side 4 Side 5 Side 6 Side 7 Side 8 Side 9 Side 10 Side 11 Side 12 Advice is most appreciated, this is my first attempt at anything like this.
