Question about fluff

Recommended Posts

Hail All,

I'm new to these forums and need some help with some fluff. A few days ago I was talking to some friends of mine and we decided to do a 10 game campaign about the liberation fo a planet from Orks. We obviously have an Ork player, me using my space wolves and another marine palyer who uses Ultramarines.

Now we have decided that a few units will be changed and a few special rules whave been thought up for some of the games.

One of them is that I get to use a Wolf Lord in Scout Armor with the Infiltrate and Behind Enemy Lines, so I'm happy!

But basically, because the first 3-4 games (depending on how well the Ultras and I do) we only have Scouts, Scout Bikers and LSS to use.

Now my problem is, because I like to write fluff for my battles, I am having a little trouble with one or two of the games in which I don't have my Wolf Lord and Scout Sargeant Telion is basically in command of my Wolves. I just can't think why my Wolf Scouts (who are elite soldiers) would take orders from Telion, I mean we basically give the Codex Astartes a big middle finger.

So can anybody help me the fluff for my wolves following Telion? I mean in the later battles since my Wolf Lord is present and he isnt allowed a captain (his died when his strike cruiser got blown up, its all irrelevant for this arguement) my Wolf Lord is in charge and thats something we agreed on.

Hmmmm...Well. First and most Likely, the Scouts would be following the orders of the Wolf Lord. Now if Telion is on the ground before your wolves, they would likely listen to the report from his scouts, and would take advice into consideration. Its entirely likely that Telion would give orders to the Wolf Scouts...and they might even follow them if they follow the guidelines of the Wolf Lord. Beyond that,It would be a classic case of "Smile,Nod,and then go about your business as normal"

Wolf Scouts are smart enough to pay attention to the things that make sense...but the moment that it comes up with something that is blatantly stupid..thats when you get 'mysterious comm interference' "I a*static*so*static*S-*static*Or*static* received and*static*-ed*static**static*Wolf Scouts out...In real life this is accomplished by rapidly pressing and releasing the push to talk button. Game wise have them gargling the throat mic or something. What he thinks was Orders Received and Acknowledged was actually Orders sounded Like Bull*static* Wolf Scouts out.

I would say something along the lines of the ultramarines already having operations set up on the planet and the space wolves coming to assist them. Gives a reason why we might follow the smurfs lead for awhile anyway. Also Telion is a pretty famous and legendary figure I can see the wolf scouts letting him take command of the operation as long as he chooses his words carefully.

If there is one thing Space Wolves' respect besides heroism and courage, is experience, most possibly in all it's forms. Telion is as experienced as they come, so I don't think any Space Wolf Scout will have too much trouble following his orders.

That doesn't mean they won't give the poor guy a hard time, like:

- not following his orders to the letter.

- trying to do it better and excessive competition to prove who is best..

- passing comments about Telion acting like a wet-nurse to a bunch of noobs.

- demarcating their territory in camp with urine, just to watch the Ultras cringe in distaste.

- ignoring Telion just to get on his nerves until the time is crucial to communicate.

...and so on and so forth, but I think you get the picture.
