army310
well in your fluff we keep what we kill so why cant we have tanks from other armys like IG or a BA rhino with the upgrades or he[[ a DE raider with lascannons. i think it would not be at the same points cost just a little higher and would be like 0-1 heavy or elite so could not have 3 basilisks and some grey hunters killing everone(that would be too evil) but what you guys think? and yes i want back my leman russ back it was ok back in the day why not now?:'( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202238-keep-what-you-kill/ Share on other sites
Simo429
would the majority of what we kill not be marked with chaos and even when its had the demons removed they are hard to sanctify and when has the wolves of russ been at war with the angels a few ravenwing jet bikes wouldnt be a bad idea though Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202238-keep-what-you-kill/#findComment-2409633 Share on other sites
army310
or we have found laying around and sanctify we sons of russ its cool as long thiers no demons and chaos filt on it. Korraz
Simply, no. Because, if we would find a, say, Basilisk, it would go to the PDFs. Having Marines sitting around in a Basilisk would simply be waste. And with Blood Angels Machines...well, the BAs would most likely call and say "Hey guys, how's weather over at Fenris? 'Round here it's radioactive, like always. By the way, word is you found some of our precious Baal Predators. We'll come over and fetch it, kay? Since it's ours and we give you your stuff back too and we are pals and everything." WG Trip
I have to agree with Korraz. The Space Wolfs would only be interested in jacking Dark Angels equipment. Then fragging it up a bit and sending it back with a new space wolf paint job. Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
actually, while i dont know about fellow loyalist equipment, in the fluff we Wolves are known to reforge and reuse traitor equipment. Logan's Axe is a reforged Chaos weapon, some of our battleships are recaptured Chaos vessels. or pretty much everything used by the 13th Company. so if it is still useable, and can be properly "fixed", i see no reason why we cant use traitor equipment. We probably return loyalist equipment to keep relations friendly between us, and for the same kindness to be returned. we arent the Marines Malevolent here. (and as funny as punking DA stuff is, even they fall under loyalists for this) WLK Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202238-keep-what-you-kill/#findComment-2410057 Share on other sites
WG Trip
By fragging up I was merely saying fixing up in the nicest possible. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202238-keep-what-you-kill/#findComment-2410067 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
Reforging traitor equipment is incredibly dangerous, and done rarely for good reason. Renegades are safer, but anything that might be daemonically possessed is going to take atleast a Journeyman Iron Priest and a Master Rune Priest to run through and check on everything. Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
@WG Trip: sorry, language mistake on my part. frag is used for blowing something use. didnt know it could also be used to fix. @Grey Mage: Not saying it is easy, just pointing out it is/has been done before. One of the battle ships in the Ragnar series was noted for being a recaptured CHaos vessel if i remember correctly. WL NiteWolf
Actually Frag could be used for fixing. As in fixing a problem with the Thousand Sons. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202238-keep-what-you-kill/#findComment-2410093 Share on other sites
hmk17
A few items scattered through out my forces have a shadow of their former identity. Kit bashing and bits purchases/trades produce interesting results. The Sons of Russ are not wasteful and will repair/reforge things they see as valuable. When multiple Astartes chapters go to war it can be assumed some weapons might get shuffled int the heat of battle. I could see them salvaging an IG tank to help make a new Rhino or something, so building off that platform (and making it good enough for WYSIWYG) would be pretty cool. Most Xenos stuff would be off limits, so a rare piece (Lukas) here or there could be a flavorful taboo. But collecting all the scraps from a battle field is better left to the Marines Malevolent. I think its more practicality then anything else. There are some exceptions, like Logan's axe for one. And If you had the resources and the need to reforge/resanctify a piece of equipment, then the Wolves would do it. There is also the 'trophy' factor. In fact that was partly the reasoning behind one of the characters in my story claiming the chaos champions gigantic chain-axe and having it reforged. Kind of a 'This is the weapon of the man that almost killed me,Now...Its mine' sort of thing. Freman Bloodglaive
This is the weapon of the man that almost killed me... *cough cough* sorry I jest... he was only a Chaos Lord, I carved him like a rutabaga. Then I took his axe and filed off all the Chaos Icons, even got a Rune Priest to exorcise it... and this cute little battle sister I met on Cyrus 3 anointed it with the Emperor's tears... served me well in a hundred battles... but there are times when I can hear it screaming as it carves through the enemy..." Well...In the Story, first chapter of Chronicles of the Claw..Poor Skepti charged in ahead of everyone else all by himself and like most Blood claws in that situation, was getting his arse handed to him on the edge of a chain axe. Chaos champion carved his chest open and took a moment to gloat after knocking him to his knees. Skepti responded by jumping up and chewing through the champs neck...Then rolling off the body, lifting up the Axe in one hand, saying "Mine" and then passing out from the wound. *shrugs* it seemed like it fit at the time...I still haven't finished Modeling him yet. I need to find a big chain axe, possibly do some converting to make it bigger, along the lines of a 2h poleaxe, and then putting a combi-melta/bolter on the haft or along the handle on the flat of the blade. I still haven't decided which yet. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202238-keep-what-you-kill/#findComment-2410244 Share on other sites

Adarul Greystalker
So we want Space Wolves to have looted tanks now? Odd as it seems... it does kind of make sense, actually. The Space Wolves and Imperial Navy don't always get along very well because the Space Wolves have a tendency to keep Imperial Navy vessels that they capture from traitors and renegades. The Admiralty see those vessels as being stolen property of the Imperial Navy and therefore believe that they should be returned to them. The Space Wolves on the other hand, go by the old Fenrisian tradition that the spoils of battle go to the victor. Much in the way that Saxon warriors used to see it as proper and indeed honorable to loot the equipment of those you've bested in combat (the risk taken in order to retrieve the equipment is considered to be deserving of honor, as well as the loot itself), Space Wolves see it as their right to claim any captured enemy equipment as their own. As this goes for ships, it would quite reasonably also apply to tanks and the like. Xeno equipment would not be used by the Iron Priests, of course, and would be either destroyed or perhaps handed over to tech-priests for experimentation. Chaos-tainted gear can be cleansed, but it's no simple task, so only the most valuable or badly-needed items would be ritually redeemed. Imperial equipment free from the taint of Chaos should be fine, though. The Iron Priests would have no problem repurposing them to be used by the Wolves. Now I'm eyeing those new plastic Manticore kits and thinking about how they would look in Space Wolf colors... Somebody write up some Egil Iron Wolf homebrew rules that allow looted Imperial Guard vehicles <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202238-keep-what-you-kill/#findComment-2411068 Share on other sites

hmk17
According to the fluff, Ragnar's "frostblade" is a fellblade. Its a big galaxy, and nothing is impossible to find. And its easy to misplace, "lose", or falsify records. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202238-keep-what-you-kill/#findComment-2411576 Share on other sites
