To drop pod or not?

Hey guys, finally returning to one of the first armies I played when I started this game back in 1991 and after going through the Space Wolf codex I've hit a bit of a stumbling block.

Here's the list so far

-Wolf Lord with frost blade adn plasma pistol [with GH1]

-Wolf guard battle leader with TDA and 2 chainfists [with GH2]

-9 Grey hunters [GH1] with flamer and powerfist

-9 Grey hunters [GH2] with flamer and powerfist

-10 Grey hunters [GH3] with 2 meltaguns

-10 Grey hunters [GH4] with 2 meltaguns

-5 Longfangs with 4 missile launchers

-Dreadnought with assault cannon

-Dreadnought with assault cannon

This gives me a total of 1245 points.

Now my dilema is: which of the following 2 options do I choose?

Option 1: 7 Drop pods and wolftooth necklace for the wolflord

Option 2: 5 Wolfguard with 5 frost blades and 2 storm shields

so...thoughts?

thanks guys

Really this should go into the Army lists section.Make the WGBL SB and CF,since he likely wont need the second attack and if you drop pod him he cant assault on first turn anyways. Make GH2 an 8 man squad so the WGBL can fit in the drop pod with them (TDA takes up two slots) Toss in a Standard to GH2. the two Dreads should Drop pod.Make GH4 two Plasma guns and a Std,put them in a Drop pod and make sure it comes in after turn 1 to drop it on a enemy objective and rapidfire the enemy holding it off. Give WL and WGBL a Wolf Tail Talisman since you dont have any other anti psyker defense. Since GH2 has the CF it doesnt need the Powerfist really,so you could make that a PW and have some more anti-infantry and give 3 a standard. I think that works out pointwise...it got kind of complicated somewhere along the line lol. the important thing to remember is that you can't assault from a drop pod,so you need to have good Firepower for that first round. I might instead of 7 drop pods put 3 and 1 in Rhinos but if your plan is to prevent your target from doing anything in a first round alpha strike then yes stick with the drop pods.

Drop pod those dread! For me it works everytime! I drop pod one at a corner of his , close to armor or two in each of his cormers with their back to the table edge! 12 front and side armor is quite good at stopping most of what will be coming their way or attrack fire form your main battle group!

ITS ALL ABOUT OFFERING MORE THAN ONE THREATH AT A TIME! a gamble like the dread-drop is worth while even if they die one the turn they arrive! the rest of your army will have closed the gap!
