esinhorn
I just bought the Intros4 digital pen tablet. It is terriffic it is like a sketchpad for my pc and I am in the process of self-teaching myself a few of the graphic design programs out there such as Photoshop,CorelPainter11,and Maya. This tablet is what I have been looking for when using the PC for artwork. I will be making alot of Heresy Era inspired artwork while I learn and I will put my progress shots up as I go along. Also anyone who is good at these programs please feel free to give me any tips and pointers. I used Autodesk Sketchbook to make the beginnings of this picture of the First Chaplain Erebus http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f295/wilis516/Image013.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202311-heresy-era-digital-artwork/ Share on other sites

Yogi
http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...p;#entry2334729  I did a similar thread to you.. In it a bunch of people gave me invaluable advice. But DV8 takes the cake. Read his posts and you will see.  Since I only have photoshop, all the thread advice relates to that.  Other things I have learned is you have to learn the basics if you want to have the ability to draw without reference. Things like foreshortening, Perspective 1 point, two point and three point (vanishing points), proportion etc. I'm in the process of learning this.  Heres another site which is basically just about digital art.. The forums are pretty good to lurk, not much love for noobs though. But it still can provide you with things to learn. http://conceptart.org/forums/ Don't get put into a creative unworthiness coma looking at all the flash art though (happened to me) you gotta focus on yourself and keep improving.  Finally on a polite site like this you need to ask for harsh criticism to get any.. Otherwise you will likely only get backslap posts.  Super finally there is a 40k art board, it is close to dead but has a little activity, I'll chuck it in also.  http://z4.invisionfree.com/illuminatus  Good luck Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202311-heresy-era-digital-artwork/#findComment-2410587 Share on other sites

Pcm979
For some reason I'm imagining him with a brooklyn accent, saying "I love my job. When I get up I never say 'I have to go to work', y'know, because it doesn't feel like work.'" esinhorn
I worked on one of the purity seals and added a bit more color. This picture is more like a test for working with wrap around text. Solid Zaku
I like the compliance pic, you seem to have a good knack for helmeted Marines. Don't particularly like the Son of Horus though...he's got a 'close your eyes and grab your toes' look.
