Angels Vengeance Chapter

Recommended Posts

I have had a crack at this twice in the past and after along process of thought sand theories, i have come up with the background that my chapter deserves. So with out further ado here it is, it is a long read but hopefully it will be worfit.

History

Brother captain Andromak of the honoured chapter 'Genesis' was given the honour and privilege of starting a new chapter along with the 26th founding. He and his hand picked veterans were on voyage to start a new era of legends and heroism but it was not to be. The chapter was constructed to engage emerging threats across sub-sector Alpheus and after distress calls came through stating that the attacks are becoming more destructive, the chapter was placed forward. The landing fleet was prepped for entering the sub-sector Alpheus via warp, ready to claim this region for the will of the Emperor when disaster struck just as the first embattled planet came into view. Shadow like ships darted in out of the large imperial ships, strikes smashed alongside the hulls of the almighty strike cruiser *NAME* and was finally succumbed to uncontrollable plasma blasts that disintegrated the ship, the veterans of the ‘exorcists’ chapter and Andromak. A large conflict took place with tow battle cruisers also being destroyed and several escort ships. The attackers were eventually beaten off and routed by steady salvos of heavy fire form the imperial heavy cruiser 'faith' as it ripped apart the remaining attackers. The new founded chapter had no-one to guide them onwards and to become the Adeptus Astartes.

After the conflict that had happened in orbit, thunder hawk gunships were dispatched with the gene seeds, supplies and the initiates to colonise the fortress monastery which was constructed before hand when the chapter was in the process of warp travel. Landing scanners and arrays were seemed to be jammed and no vox traffic on the landing sites. They descended none the less. The fortress monastery had been laid to smouldering slag with the carcasses of the chapter serfs and servitors who had constructed this almighty fortress, now laid to ruin. The thunder hawks pulled up just in time as anti-air fire began to crackle away sending many of the transports to a horrific end but the vital gene seeds and initiates had escaped. Realising the threats that had besieged the imperial planet they were forced to relocate as they had no way in which to help. the remaining space marine ships were escorted by the heavy cruiser 'faith' while the imperial navy lent down orbital support to the forces planet side.

The remains of the fleet picked up readings of a planet not too far form the previous and set course. They arrived to see a blue gem a magnificence and beauty to uphold. The landings were quick and precise and the remaining ships sent down all of its supplies and cargo in which construction could start onto a new chapter monastery. The planet was relatively small but was perfect none the less on what it contained. The planet was named Eidon in honour of their previous planet.

The southern hemisphere was made of coral and gentle waters which took up around 30% of this already small planet. There was no human life here but there was a wide variety of animals and organisms which are beyond wonder. A majestic creature along the shores was known as a night fury, a wild beast that could fire balls of flame and lightning to contain devastating explosions, they were small in number and impossible to be found and was any man was given great honour if they could track one down and slay such a majestic beast.

The planet Eidon had huge glass like areas which were congregated along the northern hemisphere where a vivid blue like surface glistened in the moderate temperatures and sunny glaze of a duel sun. The crystal like structures seemed to be harder and rock and were used as a natural defence for the fortress monastery. The monastery was a frightening prosperity with a huge variety of defences, natural and mechanical. In the later years several attacks have been made and thwarted due to the seemingly impenetrable defences.

The imperial planet (renamed) Eidon II, which was ravaged by war had finally cleansed the planet of the filth thanks to the navy reinforcements and sent steady supplies to the space marine home world for which they could use to build up their chapter.

With the gene seeds intact the hypno-indoctrination began, the proud people of Eidon II sent many recruits as an act of honour for being chosen to join the Adeptus Astartes and carry on the fight for the Emperor. By this time a new selection of veterans had been given via the ‘Genesis chapter’ to lead them. The training was a cruel and hardy process with it taking many years to gain enough marines to carry on from the veterans of the 'Genesis chapter' nearly 200 marines had been made combat ready to defend sub-sector Alpheus and the veterans promptly left to return to their own chapter.

Only one member remained, Orenal who was declared the chapter master of the newly inducted chapter now named the *NAME* in honour of the fallen strike cruiser and the famous captain Andromak. So the new era had begun and the ‘Angels Vengeance’ will bring unity to the sub-sector once more. Numbers began to grow rapidly until they had reached over 800 marines and were ready to set out on conquest. Using the imperial planet Eidon II as a staging area the *NAME* and the imperial forces set about on the conquest of Alpheus. With the newly commissioned fleet from mars the united forces began the long process of liberation along all of their fronts. It took over 3 whole years to liberate all of the planets, 22 planets within the sub-sector were now under imperial control.

The short time of victory became disastrous after the news of the Tyranid invasion and that its many splinter fleets were plaguing the galaxy. The *NAME* chapter stood ready to hold back the tide of one of its many tendrils which was coiling around Alpheus. After initial battles with the vanguard of the fleet and the destruction of the outer rim worlds they had no choice but to concentrate them onto their home world in order to eradicate the foul beasts. Eidon and its defences were tested to the brink with huge waves of tyranids came crashing against it walls but they simply could not break though until its final attack. Huge tervigons had borrowed under the sheets by adopting the material of the surface and using it against the *NAME* , crystal like shards from the glaciers of Eidon were attached to the beasts and had opened up the defences for the tyranids to swarm through. The marines held them back for days on end with the tide never faltering. It was only until the fleets in orbit had destroyed all of the tyranid vessels until reinforcements made planet fall and eradicated the leader beasts and wiped the filth clean off the planet. It had come at a price.

Before the arrival of the tyranids the *NAME* had reached over a 1000 brothers but had dwindled down to 300 which came from orbit and only a few score left on the surface who had built up defences for last stands. The great chapter master had survived the conflict in being the last line of defence but his veterans company had been destroyed to only a few marines. The *NAME* will endue.

Five years after the tyranids the *NAME* had grown to a larger size and was able to protect the worlds that remained loyal to the Emperor. Although there still are 22 planets only 7 remain in control. Most planets lost were simple facilities with few inhabitants and so can be easily retaken but more pressing matters had endured.

Chaos incursions had occurred on the urbanised planet of Contela and the defences are falling. An Ork Waaagh has arisen and pillaging the eastern cluster of planets while eldar pirates have returned wishing to finish what they have started. Besieged on all fronts the *NAME* chapter will go forward and cleanse the abominations and retake the 22 planets in the name of the chapter and the immortal god Emperor.

Organisation

After the tyrannic wars most of the data had been destroyed and lost. They ‘*NAME* never forgot how to fight and still employ its standards but overall strategies and organisation was lost and so chapter master Orenal introduced a new system in which they could elaborate upon.

The Angels Vengeance chapter numbers to around 600-700 marines with numerous chapter serfs and servitors and have an entirely different structure compared to any other chapter. Due to their disbandment, they adopted their own formality in which they believe to be the most effective. Other chapter disapprove of this but they cant lie that it is effective, similar to the space wolves and salamanders which have different structures to the army organisation. The way the chapter fights however remains true due to the discovery of the chapter and the teaching that have incorporated into the chapter.

Every company will have approximately 50 fighting men plus armoured units to fight with. Each unit is separate and self sustainable, companies will only support one another dictating on the battle.

Due to war and attrition companies have been commonly converted to full fill a different role. Most companies are initially strike companies due to the fact that they are the most common and versatile. If the strike company looses certain units or has shown a particular strength of a genre on the field then the company if reworked to meet the standards required.

Armoured companies will contain the highest proportion of armoured units in which to deploy, commonly led by high ranking tech marines to control the battle.

Support companies commonly work along side strike and vengeance companies to lay down fire support for assaulting units.

Vengeance companies are fanatically in combat and are commonly dangerous units even for allies, the high number of chaplains and field apothecaries are used to control this and to restore order amongst the ranks.

Veteran companies are only used in the dire of situation where their experience and fighting skills are most needed, they are the only company to be separated and inducted to other companies in hope that their experience will help their brothers fight more effectively.

Unlike other chapter scout companies are entirely independent and are used for mass infiltration to mark out attack zones and to cripple enemy defences. Scouts are inducted into the other companies after they have fulfilled their roles in the scout companies, being in other companies is the final stage before they can join their battle brothers.

Assault companies are the most different company even compared to the chapter let alone other chapters. Their structure is commonly referred to space wolves. Elite units are used as sergeants while highly experienced members go back to being scouts. The reasoning for this is that the assault companies are used as spearheads and usually dropped into battle or used in the sieges, being the more common. Scouts can quickly destroy bunkers and experienced brothers can help the standard squads via adding their knowledge on siege tactics. Although heavy siege units aren’t used (left to armoured companies) they are effective none the less. Even more, is that they have a lack of heavy weaponry and leave it to the support companies to add the fire support needed.

Orbital support is also widely different as the *NAME* fleet has been divided amongst the imperial navy battle groups which are scattered across the sector so that they can engage any threat that goes into the system. Although the imperial guard and navy are at large they are under direct control of the space marines, much like the realm of Ultramar. The space marine ships are used as HQ or spearhead vessels which are commonly strike cruisers.

The companies are spread across the sector to engage the most serious of threats, supporting the imperial guard on land and in orbit.

I'm not sure the Inquisition would reliably use the Exorcists to provide the training Cadre for a marine chapter given their demonic posession.

Also - Eidon sounds a lot like Eidolon - I did a double take when I read it.

The opening sequence is a little hazy - why was the Chapter attacked, how did the enemy get routed when they had disintegrated a relatively powerful capital ship?

....And why was a new training cadre not despatched? Astartes are valuable resources and an un-guided chapter is pretty useless without adequate training regimes and materials - they are basically big dudes with guns - it is the training that makes them Space Marines. As for the chapter master, I would presume that an initiate learning ALL the available doctrine, even at teh risk of his own sanity, would be better equipped to lead the chapter than someone who went off to slay a large predator - and why do marines always seem so willing to lay down their lives in some creature hunt when the chapter could ill-afford the gene-seed and personnel losses of 5 other full marines...

I really recommend that you try reading the first post though, you are mixing tenses a little too much - was the planet wonderful or is it wonderful and why do we care particularly? Also how can a planet covered in water and teeming in aquatic life be barren?

The bit about the raiders attacking the Fortress monastery is not clear. I would reword this whole section more briefly..

"The <insert chapter name> was founded as part of the 26th founding to combat frequant raiders by dangerous Xenos and warp entities in the <insert segmentum/sector/subsector/planet here>

As the Chapter fleet reverted from warp space and approached the blue gem that was <planet name> the were greeted not by the warning sigils and hailing vox of system monitors and defence platforms, but were scourged by ravening blasts of dark energy, quickly overcoming the shields of the Angels Vengeance, the Strike Cruiser that the <insert parent chapter> had sent. Despite the best efforts of its crew, the damage to the ship's warp reactor was too much to repair, and the ship drifted back into warp-space, presumably with the loss of all hands.

On board the Angels Vengeance were the would-be Chapter Master, Captain <XYZ> of the <ABC>, who had been given teh honour of leading this fledgling chapter, along with his hand-picked veteran squad who would have formed the core of the training cadre.

The remaining ships of teh fleet, escorted by the Imperial Battlefleet <LMN>, fought off the shadowy ships with minimal damage, and the initiates of the Chapter made planet fall at their would-be Fortress monastery. The machine spirits of their Thudnerhawks could not interrogate teh chapter keep for landing instructions and no vox traffic happend, and the reason was apparent as the swift carriages descended - the fortress was a smouldering ruin, and the existence thousands of serfs, servitors and mechanicus skitarri who should have been milling around the blue crystalline plateau was testified by only the gruesome sight of charred skeletal remains."

I'll let you continue from there :-)

But words to use - cogitators (computers) hypno-indoctrination (where teh marines are taught stuff and made more loyal through hypntoci procedures) etc etc

Hemal, thanks for the advice and have changed the beginning to what you seemd alot more effective. The Exorcist chapter was my mistake it was ment to be the Genesis chapter who were very much like the ultramarines.

What do you think about the rest of it though?

Heru Talon, i picked the name ages ago and didnt realise there was a second founding call angels of vengeance until alot later but i stuck to it as i loved it so much.

nah, doesnt seem to have that ring to it, i know i need a new name for the chapter but i think the list i have is pretty decent.

still not sure which one though

Angels of Retribution

Reprisal Angels

Seraphics

Vengers Angelic

Retributioners

need to get this out the way so i can concentrate on the fluff

How about Seraphs Vengeant (Anveging Seraphim), or teh Vengeant Host (I liek teh word Vengeant) .

TBH teh main beef that I have is that you need to polish the continuity and language of the article first before expanding too much - it makes it harder to read and ascertain what is going on.

Getting better - but there is still teh language issue - but we can help polish it that bit more...

He and his hand picked veterans were on voyage to start a new era of legends and heroism but it was not to be.

He and his elite honour guard were to have been the core of this new chapter, and start a new page in the annals of Adeptus Astartes legend, but this was not to be.

The chapter was constructed to engage emerging threats across sub-sector Alpheus and after distress calls came through stating that the attacks are becoming more destructive, the chapter was placed forward.

The chapter was commanded by the High Lords of Terra to secure the Alpheus sector, along with the normal Xenocidal campagns and support for Imperial bodies that were expected of any Astartes unit. As many systems in the Alpheus sector were subjected to further and more devestating attacks by starnge Xenos of unidentified origin (there were never survivors or sightings after any attacks), the High Lords decreed that the chapter was to mobilise before meeting up with its new command structure, and the initiates of the Chapter prepared to meet the challenge. Their ships travelled through the warp from Holy Terra escorted by an honour fleet from the Adeptus Mechanicus and Battlefleet Daedalus. They met the command unit from the Genesis chapter at Cypra-Mundi and continued from there to the Alpheus sector, a joruney of a few weeks in warp space.

As the Imperial fleet exited the warp near the outermost planet of the Alpheus sub-sector they drifted through some plasma mines, damaging several of the smaller ships and destroying one escort, the Cobra class destroyer "Impetuosity". Almost simultaneously, space was punctuated by fleeting shadows and ravening bursts of lance energy, boiling metal and piercing holes in the Strike Cruiser "Vengeance", which was carrying Andramak and his honour guard. The attack was uncanny as the Strike cruiser was not lead ship in the flotilla. Under the devestating assault, the ship began to distintegrated in uncontrolled warp-plasma blasts and with a blinding flash, disappeared back into the Immaterium, taking all her crew, presumed dead...

The warp implosion had the added effect of knocking out the shadow fields of the now unprotected Dark Eldar cruisers, who sought to escape the wrath of the Imperial guns. Several of the alien vessels were hit by salvoes from the Battle Barge "Semblance of Death", or else sliced apart by the Nova cannon carried by the Mechanicus cruiser "Crucible of Steel" and teh Imperial navy ship "Faith Infinite".

The Imperial losses were great - in addition to the "Vengeance" carrying the command staff of the chapter, two Imperial Navy Mars class cruisers were lost and a squadron of escorts were reduced to tendrils of frozen slag. The new chapter had suffered its first great loss, and no Initiates were sufficiently trained to lead a fully fledged Space marine unit.

Do you see the difference in language, register, style...

I think it reads more cleanl and also uses more of the gothic and epic feel

My apoligies to all on this topic, other circumstances have stopped me into designing my new chapter. However i have manged to open up some free time in which i wish to continue.

Sorry to Hemal but i have used your ideas to follow up on the background, please dont be offended.

So far i have managed up to the point when the chapter leaves to find a new home world, more will come that i promise

History

Brother-Captain Andromak of the honoured 'Genesis' chapter of the Adeptus Astartes was given the honour and privilege of commanding the training cadre for a new chapter formed during the 26th founding. The warp implosion had the added effect of knocking out the shadow fields of the now unprotected Dark Eldar cruisers, who sought to escape the wrath of the Imperial guns. Several of the alien vessels were hit by salvoes from the space marine strike cruiser "Semblance of Death", or else sliced apart by the Nova cannon carried by the Mechanicus cruiser "Crucible of Steel" and the Imperial navy ship "Faith Infinite".

After the initial and brutal conflict that had happened wrecked the battle fleet Daedalus in orbit, thunder hawk gunships were dispatched with the gene seeds, supplies and the initiates to colonise the planet below. The fortress monastery was supposedly constructed during the voyage of the fleet in warp space by the numerous chapter serfs and servitors which had been created on the planet. Landing scanners and arrays were seemed to be jammed and no vox traffic from the landing sites. They descended none the less. The atmosphere was clouded and unknowing, the thunder hawks engines screamed to life as they pierced through the erupting storms, lightning scratched and burned the hulls but the ceramite armour of thunder hawks simple ignored the potential destructive forces.

As the final descent was initiated one of the mighty vessels Carrion shuddered then exploded in a violent purple explosion, tearing the vessel apart in a seemingly effortless act. Plasma bursts scattered across the stormy skies in random but destructive patterns. The thunder hawks pilots manage to hold back the sleek and powerful crafts for a while but their defences could no longer hold. A second thunder hawk Dados cart wheeled under the fury of projected lance strikes which had torn its hull inside out. The remaining thunder hawks managed to break through the storm and the dark elder fighters to touch down on the surface.

As the surface came into view, the pilots realised they had been sent way off course and had entered a gruelling and dictating battle. The mighty artillery guns duelled with dark eldar heavy weaponry. While guardsmen were fighting through the embattled streets against dark elder foot soldiers. The thunder hawks had managed to touch down onto large landing platforms just as the enemy fighters came into view. The huge winding of hydra flak guns opened up into the enemy craft which exploded widely. The shocked eldar crews scattered and fled, only to be hunted down but the lightning wing squadrons dispatched to clear the enemy airspace.

The imperial guard communications had been blocked by the warp storms which were summoned by the desperate elder in attempts to whittle down the defending forces and claim their prize. They had not expected the fierce resistance of the famous regiments of Eidon and their remarkable ability in combat on urban fronts which were the last lines of defence against the piratical raiders. The use of air born regiments with an expertise at urban warfare far out matched the fragile elder raiders and their foot troops as valkyrie gunships won quick successive duels with the enemy ground vehicles. The war however was far from over which would take a long period of time to win which the space marines could not wait for, so with aid of lightning wings the thunder hawks pierced through the storms once again to breach into the atmosphere where the remains of the battle fleet awaited.

After learning upon this new threat, psykers began to wage a war with dark eldar in attempts to break open the warp storms to allow the fleet to lend orbital support. Even so the remains of the space marines still needed to construct a fortress monastery as the original one never to place due to the invading dark elder. The remaining supply vessels began a voyage across the sector in order to find a suitable planet for colonisation. Escorted by the ships: strike cruiser "Semblance of Death" and the Mechanicus cruiser "Crucible of Steel" they set off. The remains of the fleet was stationed in orbit ready to open up their orbital weaponry as soon as the storms were broken and to destroy any darl elder who tried to escape.

New section conataining the planet eidon and the birth of the chapter

The remains of the active fleet set out onto finding a new home world in which the space marines could make their claim, before this had concurred a signal had already been sent out requesting for a new squad of veterans to be sent in order for the training to commence. What remained of Andromak and his strike cruiser was to be believed to have been totally annihilated and their honoured names were inscribed as deceased and that their lives shall be avenged. The search took many months to complete and there was still no word of the reinforcements or progress on the original planet that was to be colonised.

After a long gruelling search and coming into contact with several planets and engaged in multiple battles with the retched dark elder who attempted to whittle them down into piecemeal and were succeeding. The space marines had to have a landing zone in which to gain a more fortified position. The desired planet came into view. Thunder hawks were quickly dispatched, knowing what laid ahead. The hydraulic ramps whined and dropped to reveal a blaze of light which portrayed natural beauty. The planet Eidon: amber skies streaked across the planet to reflect of blue crystal like structures which were erected across the barren wastes lands with glass like dust which whirlwind wildly through the seemingly gentle winds.

The defences began construction immediately as supplies were sent down onto the surface to begin the swift construction of the fortress monastery. Initial landings were protected by the imperial forces which were initially tasked with defending the ships which now hang in orbit of the imperial world still engulfed by the warps storms. Defence systems were put online and the scanning of the planets surface had fluctuated to find the perfect area for the main construction to commence. The vox traffic was cut off and huge plasma bursts began to erupt in orbit while the ground crews were frantically attempting to bring heavier weapons and orbital defence systems up.

The battle in orbit was extremely brutal with the dark elder sending an all or nothing attack in a final attempt to break the fleet. The second strike cruiser Ragonus was the first to be struck by a series of devastating lance batteries brought forth by the largest of the dark elder cruisers, crippling its numerous banks of shields and causing major damage to its internal system. Eventually it became a sitting target for the dark elder to pillage at their will. Just as the first transport pods launched into the hull of the strike cruiser the mechanicus ship Crucible of Steel had unleashed its nova cannon, ripping through the shields and disintegrating the lead eldar ship. The heavy fire from the mechanicus ship was too much to bare as half a dozen more ships were given a similar fate to their predecessor. Although it was too late the strike cruiser had taken heavy damage from the boarding pods and was now a lifeless wreck while the remaining escort ships were either destroyed or severely damaged. If it were not for the Crucible of Steel, all would have been lost. However the side attack onto the surface was unnoticed as the sleek eldar craft had made planet fall, ready to attack the under construction defences.

The battles across the planet were just as brutal, if not then even more. Brave guardsmen attempted to hold back the eldar forces while major construction was undergoing, prioritising defence systems. Although what remained of the dark eldar were small, the imperial forces were even smaller with only a few hundred men and a handful of fighting vehicles. The initial skirmishes were between warriors and guardsmen but the battle began to escalate. Raiders and jet bikes screamed across the amber skies sending salvos of lance and barbed weaponry into the imperial ranks. Initial defences were easily overcome with simple turrets and mines which were easily thwarted. However the buying of time proved successful as more complex and destructive defence systems sprang to life and unleashed heavy calibre fire onto the dark eldar ranks sending their delicate craft to fiery dooms and driving them back.

The imperial forces intended to drive onwards and wipe them out but their numbers had diminished and the out laying areas had not been recorded so they regrettable had to hang back and carry on the protection of the construction sights. No sooner did the battle in orbit end so had the battles on the surface, they were quick and brutal and casualties were devastating. The massed casualties were buried along the main line of the initial defences in honour of their sacrifices for an unborn chapter.

The construction sites were charted and the major construction had began. In orbit, the remaining ships made planet fall to the new drop zones to be repaired and to also lend aid in the long and gruelling process of the construction of the mighty fortress. The strike cruiser Ragonus was salvaged by the mechanicus cruiser and what ever could be used was sent down to the surface to be used as materials to repair the remaining ships. The mighty guns were cannibalised and used as the major defence weaponry in which the mighty fortress may uphold. The mechanicus cruiser hung in low orbit and kept a close eye along the surface and in high orbit in case the dark eldar attempted to return.

The fortress monastery was soon after completed, because of limited resources after the gruelling battles, it was much smaller and couldn't house as much as half of what any other chapter fortress. For the downfall in size and weaponry the fortress makes up in natural defences. The fortress is issued on top of and erected formation of crystal like structure which are will take weeks to even partially destroy with the most feared weaponry, even orbital strikes would be largely ineffective with a major part of the fortress being under huge natural caverns which make up the same material as the natural defences. One other major advantage of the fortress is that it is situated on a large source of infinite energy. The crystals at the heart of the fortress are pure and hold great amounts of energies which are easily recharged with simple sun light and most other methods of heat and light, it can even be left in the dark and the energies would slowly recharge.. The life expectancy of these crystals are huge in which the most complex crystal can last may years without a need of recharging. Because of this the entire fortress is powered by these crystals and that all their machinery and weaponry are also powered by these fearsome crystals. Battle brothers internal systems are charged by tiny shards which can last a lifetime and even more. This is why the space marines have fierce ice blue eyes and similarly lit weaponry and machinery. There are only three major roués into the fortress which are easily defended by a huge variety of defence systems. The most potent weapon in a ground based laser salvaged from the strike cruiser’s major artillery weapons. The laser can fire a stream of blue light that can puncture through the amber skies and penetrate and cripple even the mightiest of vessels in high orbit. The laser is then backed up by three large artillery weapons each stationed behind one of the entries which were also originated form the strike cruiser. These mighty weapons can fire a high torrent of fire onto any warship in low orbit which can be easily overcome by the ferocity of the high rate of fire. Although these take huge amounts of energy it is no problem as the most complex crystals are used form near the planets core.

Shortly after the battle of Eidon the strike cruiser Temptus had entered the system with the new veterans from the Genesis chapter, led by the famous commander Orenal. Not only that fresh supplies and munitions were sent to the fortress on Eidon and further strengthened the fleets with two main battle cruisers and several escorts from the imperial navy, space marines and the adeptus mechanicus. Word had also been reached from the imperial planet Craton in that the warp storms had been destroyed and the imperial battle fleet Daedalus had wiped out most of the enemy forces from orbit, survivors have however fled and will return to pillage the sub sector.

Thus a hard task was now laid ahead of this unnamed chapter, with the long and painful process of fulfilling its number to fill the great empty hall of the almighty chapels of this now great and fearsome fortress. The imperial planet Craton was given the honour and privilege to send recruits to become the Emperor’s finest warriors. The nobel heritage and its loyalty to the imperium provided prime candidate to be transformed into the new space marines. The support of numbers however was an issue. Even though the finest men were sent it was still a long period of time before they could be honoured as space marines and that their were too few who could even become full fledged initiates let alone space marines. Chapter Master Orenal and his veterans spent years to build up the chapter in order to gain a strong enough fighting force to liberate the sub sector.

More needed tech marines and the apothecarian were sent in aid to support the chapter and so add their knowledge and expertise to the growing strength. It took seven years for the chapter to develop and yet it was still significantly under strength; numbering only over six hundred battle brothers and the surviving veterans from the Genesis chapter, each of whom were given the privilege of commanding his own battle company. Many battles had taken place with dark eldar pirates who took an significant toll onto the loyalist forces. Now the calls could no longer go unheard and the chapter was sent off to liberate the sub sector from the aliens and heretics that had polluted it. With the mighty marines they were aided by the renewed battle fleet Daedalus which not only held numerous warships but also an entire army group of imperial guard ready to go forth in the emperors name.

the next section, the campaign of sub sector alpheus

The liberation of Sub sector Alpheus was unlike the battle of Eidon or even Craton for that matter, it largely became a battle of attrition. After Eidon and Craton were fully cleansed of alien and heretical filth the more populated worlds were concentrated on while smaller forces were sent out to engage smaller threats on planets and zones of less importance. The first major planet to be engaged with was the planet known as Lutheus, a largely desert world with pockets of large sprawling cities. Unlike hive worlds, Lutheus had no large spires or held billions of people, the structures were extremely smaller in comparison and that the planet held no more then a few million imperial citizens. The imperial guard regiments took a large favour to light infantry across the waste lands backed by highly mobile artillery, while the major cities had heavy shock troops back by main battle tanks. The two major extremes proved pitivol in their combinations against the ork Waaagh that had arisen and sited Lutheus as its first target. When the battle fleet Daedalus arrived in orbit the war was way under process with the fighting occurring for over four years. Knowing that imperial guard forces were stationed and holding back the green tide, space marine strike forces were sent down to engage any and all ork leadrers and cripple their morale. Whirlwind batteries and land speeder spotters supported the mobile artillery forces while scouts supported the light infantry. Knowing the shcok troops would hold the operation steel rain was brought forward. Scouts targeted hot zones which were struck form the long range artillery while drop pods containing tactical marines would drop down and eliminate the most potent threat instantly after the barrages had ceased. The effective pre-emptive strikes had cruippled the Ork moral in a manner of a few weeks and made the orks an easy target for the imperial forces. While One full fledge battle company with numerous scouts troops remained, the bulk of the forces were sent to liberate the other worlds.

At the same time as the battle of Lutheus imperial forces came upon the world Klathux, a world no larger than Eidon which contained large agricultural land which fed the sub sector, well it had. The planet was wiped clean my chaotic forces which had influenced the planet to turn. Although the inhabitants were wiped out the land was largely intact the chaotic forces holding in a dozen or so citadels across the northen hemisphere. Realising that the vital crops could be re-used the area was not be wiped out from orbit but taken by the elite ground troops of the Craton forces, spearheaded by two battle companies. Four citadels fell with the first few days which seemed like a huge success but the remaining two had fortified their citadels with seemingly impenetrable defences, guarded by none other than the iron warriors legion who expertise was in siege warfare. The imperial forces were stumped and every method proved ineffective at penetrating the defences. Captain Damocles who was overall commander of the imperial forces dictated the land raider Ares was to be constructed and penetrate the forces on both citadels in a synchronised attack. Half a dozen were made and divided to breach the most critical defensive zones. The swift battles proved to be effective as the defences were breached and exploited but space marine assault squads with massed Craton infantry. The citadels fell but with horrific casualties on both imperial and space marine forces. Damocles took the remainder of his battle company to support in the next attack on the following world. The other company were to remain to not only wipe out remaining forces but to also oversee the pacification of the crops to make sure that they are not corrupted.

The third major that took place during the battles of Lutheus and Klathux was at the space ports of Falderon which were stationed not far off from the planet Klathux. The initial battles that were engaged were skirmishes between scouting vessels and fighters with the dreaded dark eldar. Only one month passed when a full scale orbital engagement took forth. Large duel between the fury of imperial guns and dark eldar batteries took place around the space ports. The space ports themselves had a huge array of defensive weaponry in which to take out the lighter more agile craft with ease but simply hadn't the fire power to engage large vessels which were left to the main body of the fleet. Space marine squads of the third company defended the walk ways and hanger bays form the eldar raider in brutal close quarter fighting along the steel, dark decks that were conjured like a maze throughout the space stations. Under the command of the commander Damocles of the second company they refitted the newly constructed strike cruiser Faith to engage in the upcoming engagement which would dictate not only the battle of the space ports but the entire campaign itself. The strike cruiser was fitted with a large array of boarding pods in which to smash the insides of the enemy vessels and rip out their hearts in a blaze of glory. The entire third company was prepped for launch when the final battle took place. Under cover fire of the famous mechanicus ship Crucible of Steel with its nova cannon, the pods smashed into the enemy cruisers and destroying over half a dozen major ships in less than an hour. The crippling blows led to the entire destruction the enemy fleet with not a single ship escaping according to the records.

The three major areas had been thwarted thanks to the five battle companies which had spearheaded each assault and proved their might against the enemies of the imperium. Only a handful of planets remained to be liberated and were to be conducted by the imperial guard due to the unimportance of threat levels. Several squads form the fourth company were divided amongst the seemingly minor threats which laid ahead while the rest were simply reinforced or even colonised by the imperial guard. However another threat had concurred closer to home...

With the fleet Daedalus scattered across the sub sector concentrating on wiping out the last of the enemy resistance, the home world Eidon was open to attack from orbit. Orenal however forsaw such an event and had stationed the entire fifth company which was larger than the other four battle companies and that of Orenal and his new veterans after the campaign had almost concluded. The campaign had already been won but wether the planet and the chapters future to survive depending on the fifth company. A web way had been created under their noses without them ever knowing with the knowledge that the dark eldar were wiped out. The web way opened up in high orbit to disgorge a large fleet which made the one at the battle of the Falderon ports seem insignificant, plotting revenge onto those who had defeated them. What they didn't know was what had changed during that time. The huge ground laser opened up and set deadly blue streams high into orbit crippling the major vessels and annihilating anything smaller. The dark eldar fleet was swift and just as it descended onto the planet. Soon the defensive batteries opened up with a high torrent of fire wiping out entire waves of dark eldar ships but still they managed the seep through the defences to make land fall. The ground laser did one final act to wipe out the final wave of attackers with a huge plasma, similar to what had happened to the strike cruiser vengeance which engulfed the laser and a hunge proportion of the final wave. Thankfully the laser was stationed off the fortress so damage to it was minimal. The huge power drain however depleted many of crystals which were supposed to last for years had diminished in a few hours of the seemingly long onslaught. The surviving cruisers hit the surface to open up web ways to disgorge the ground forces in a whir of storm like destruction. Casualties were at a minimal but they had lost their entire fleet in the process of the attack. Now the battle on the surface had taken place.

The ground defences were tested beyond their limits as the AI defences began to fall to the swift and brutal tactics employed by the dark eldar. The mighty space marines had time to set up a bulwark of defences along the three entry zones to the fortress. The dark eldar pulled of a frightful tactic with an all out assault on one point while the other two were harassed but swift vehicles to stop them from reinforcing the besieged point. Divided the marines quickly fell but the dark eldar did take larger casualties despite their advantage. The marines fell back to concentrate forces in the lower catacombs which made up the fortress. The dark eldar quickly encircled the marines to deliver the killing blow but were thwarted back by a barrage or multiple thunder fire cannons which used specialised shells which pummelled shock waves at their delicate craft and caused them to retreat. The victoru was short live with eldar war machines using a counter charge which ignored the new weaponry and smashed in to the marine lines while the lighter craft moved around the flanks to pillage at their will. By then the imperial forces were stationed in orbit and had sent down ground troops from the third and fourth company to block all ways of escape. The dark eldar were caught in a horrific crossfire which ended in a two hour slaughter, none were spared, all were purged. The fifth company had dwindled to a couple score of men while their captain had been torn asunder by one of destructive war machines. Most of the fortress monastery lied in ruined and the gene banks damaged. The damage was horrific but they would endure.

Beginning to get better but there is still a lot of mixing of tense and mis-timing of sentences.

For example -

After the initial and brutal conflict, Battlefleet Daedalus and the marine fleet entered orbit around <Planet name>, and Thunderhawk gunships were despatched to the surface. They carried supplies, weapns, gene-seed and a contingent of initiates. They screamed through the thick atmosphere heading for theior fortress monastery, which had been supposedly build by serfs and servitors during the long years since the first marine geneseed organs had been created for this chapter.

Landing arrays and sensors seemed to be jammed, and no vox hails were heard, and yet they descended. The atmosphere boiled with electricity, the engines struglling to provide enough power, lightning blasts raking and pitting the surface of the transports...
