Transports/vehicles...

I want the vehicles to stand out on their own from the army while still being tied in.

So while my army is going with a pre-heresy gray versus light blue, I want my vehicles to be blacked out so to speak.

I have some plasti-card company emblems that I will paint the same pre-heresy gray as the army which I have yet to determine where they will be mounted. Either on the side hatch or if on the top hatch. The only problem is that if on the top hatch, I will have to cut a line right down the middle to account for the hatch opening.

Grey Hunters have black squad numbers over red background on shoulders so rhinos will have their squad number over red background on the just the front prow sections.

Long Fangs have black squad markings over white background on their shoulders so razorbacks would have their black squad number of white background on just the front prow sections.

I am not sure on the LRR, but I am thinking of trying to do something like the bas-relief of the Bob Panda Land Raider to add color and break up the black.

Of course I will highlight all edges as best to my ability and maybe add some weathers of the armor. Lenses and weapons will be a appropriate as well.

Comments/criticisms? Anyone have any examples of diverging from complete matching of army to vehicles?

I think, you don't need any advices:)

I will be using similar method to paint mine transports, because we have squad markings rather than just plain numbers, colour code on doors and hatches will be a good choice.

Well my actual pack markings are all runic alphabet hand painted. That is what I meant by numbers. Like one of my GH squads that have flamers would have the cen rune for torch and the other would have the sigel symbol for sun, ie, flamers, fire, etc. Meltas would be marked accordingly to what they do as well.

For my vehicle pack markings I actually use the wolf totems that come on the new sprues. I place one on the front of the rhino and it matches with the wolf standard in the pack. It looks pretty cool. No pics right now, but I may post some later.

So far I like my hand painted runes since it brings to mind a techpriest, with a rune priest chanting in the background, applying the runes to each vehicle.

Also with the hand painted runes on my actual troops, it brings to mind that when a aspirant is finally assigned to a company as a Blood Claw, the ritual to accept him would be a private affair in which the Wolf Lord would be watching as the aspirant is brought before the company and a brush is dipped into a ornate container to paint on his pack affiliation.
