Panzerkopf
First question, does a Celestian Retinue for a Sororitas Heroine count towards the army's Faith Point total? They're a Faithful unit, but they count as being part of the same slot as the Heroine. Second question, can the Priest from Codex: Imperial Guard unlock Arco-Flagellants? To be rules-lawyery, it shouldn't since the guy in IG is a "Ministorum Preacher" while the guy from Codex: WH is merely a "Priest", and the entry for Arco-Flagellants states that a "Priest" is needed to take them in your army. However, the part of me that follows common sense says that they're the same freakin' thing so either one should count. I'm running Guard with allied OH by the way. Inquisitor Fox
First question: Yes  The Celestian VSS is a faithful character, and as such adds to the Faith pool regardless of what slot she is occupying. Second question: No. As per the DH and WH FAQs which clarified that an Inquisitor from one Codex does not unlock assassins in the other (though why you need to do that really unless you're trying to ally both DH and WH to the same SM or IG army I have no idea), and the WH further clarifies this point on page 3: Do Arco-Flagellants require a Witch HunterPriest to be fielded or can an Imperial Guard Priest fulfill the requirement? A. Yes – the Priest referred to is the Priest in the Witch Hunters Codex. This makes it fairly clear IMO. Panzerkopf
Thanks. My bust on not reading the FAQs btw. I don't see why taking Assassins from a different codex is an issue worth FAQing anyway. Aren't they the same in both books? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202456-two-rules-questions/#findComment-2412390 Share on other sites
Inquisitor Fox
Yup, they are :D My only thought is if someone is trying to abuse the allies rules in a SM or IG parent army.. no worries though, they tend to not do that :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202456-two-rules-questions/#findComment-2412553 Share on other sites
ArmouredWing
First question: Yes  The Celestian VSS is a faithful character, and as such adds to the Faith pool regardless of what slot she is occupying. The answer is indeed yes but not because of the VSS. Celestians are faithful period, the only real reason for picking a vet is the slightly better stat line and the fact that you can access the inventory. So, a celestian retinue will provide FP's towards the faith pool regardless of the presence of a Vet Supe in the retinue squad. I always just upgrade every Sister Superior to a Veteran on general principle, so I missed that tidbit... that and not having used Celestians a lot myself that'll do that. Glad to see it's the same answer though ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202456-two-rules-questions/#findComment-2413134 Share on other sites

Glad to see it's the same answer though B) ...and the same rule applies for Seraphim as well although in their case the VSS also acts as an imagifier and a cheap one at that. Inquisitor Fox
Which would be why I never noticed it... I've never ran my Seraphim without the VSS... :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202456-two-rules-questions/#findComment-2414421 Share on other sites
