Endova
Quick question. Does any know what a Wolf Priest would have on hist left shoulderpad? Would he have the Great Wolf's symbol, or is there some symbol of the Reclusiam that he would have? Marmande
I want to say yes, but honestly I'm not sure. Doesn't it mention that all Rune Priests have to join the Great Wolf's company? Better question: Is Logan Grimnar the Great Wolf to your army? Endova
Yes. All Wolf Priests are part of the Great Wolf's company, and assigned to individual Lords for a battle or campaign. The symbol of the Great Wolf is always the same. Logan is the great wolf for the time being, but no, he's not the Wolf Lord for my army. That would be Ragnar Blackmane. Marmande
If that's the case then use Grimnar's symbol. My point was, if Logan wasn't the Great Wolf in the 'fluff' of your army, you could get away with using any other. Duke Corwin
Wolf priests are independent. They are under the command of the Great Wolf but are not a part of his great company. This is mentioned in the codex. They can fight with any company. As for symbols that is up to them. Blarmb
Personally, I'd take a nod from this passage in their entry: They also function as cult leaders and spiritual guides in the manner of a Space Marine Chaplin, each living conduit that maintains the Chapter's connection to the imperial creed I'd do put on a more standard imperial symbol. Space Wolves are pretty divergent group and the Wolf Priests are the one that keep their connection to the larger Imperial doctrine. It makes sense they'd probably make a point of standing out with something a bit more mainstream than the other wolves. Night Runner
If that's the case then use Grimnar's symbol. My point was, if Logan wasn't the Great Wolf in the 'fluff' of your army, you could get away with using any other. Marmande, Logan Grimnar's original Great Company symbol was the 'Night Runner'. When a Great Wolf is chosen, he does not use his original Great company symbol, but replaces it with the 'Wolf that Stalks between Stars' symbol. So using Logan's symbol would not make any sense according to your reasoning. The men in his company do the same. Not that you cannot use it. It is completely within the nature of our Chapter for the Priest's to have their own personal or stylized heraldry, according to their name, actions or history. Personally I like to add the 'Wolf that Stalks between Stars' symbol just to show that he is part of the Great Wolf's Company somewhere on the armour.
