Crl1981
I have started a new Bike army, and I want to do it right. This involves doing something a little more involved than just putting flock on the base. So I am looking for any and all suggestions on what I should do to base my models. Thanks all! The Normish
Here's a few suggestions, but keep in mind I've never even seen a Space Marine biker sprue. 1. Have a biker hero leaning over to the side, scooping something off the ground, like a dead grot or a sword. 2. Have several bikers doing wheelies, waving stuff in the air, or something. 3. Have the overall theme be a wide road. Model the bases to look like cracked asphalt or something. 4. Have a hero decapitating something as he rides by. 5. Have some guys with enemies under their wheels. Arnil
Have them dragging orks. Blood splatters on the fronts and bottoms mixxed with mud splatters. Leather Jackets. Profit ??? Red Fury
If you are open to buying resin cast bases I'd go with this from www.dragonforge.com. I have bought bases from them and really like the quality. Here is the collection: urban rubble -Fury Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202537-bike-basing-suggestions-please/#findComment-2413645 Share on other sites
chewielight
I make my own out of resin but you can do the same type with greenstuff or cork. Youtube has some good tut on making them. I agree with some of the ideas. I am basing my army on a lava flow and will post some pictures when I get a chance if you want to see. Cork and styrofoam make good rock bases if you need to. Greenstuff can be used to make an actual road looking base. The dragonforge ones are nice but expensive. well for me anyway LOL casting isnt cheap either so see which one you like. ShinyRhino
I'm a bit of a basing minimalist. I put one piece of rubble, rock, or junk on each base, and then sand and paint. http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z43/goalie20/Warhammer%2040K/bikesquad1-1.jpg These are all on the GW capsule bases, which are obviously perfectly sized for Marine bikers. There isn't a ton of extra room for scenic junk on there, but as I said, I'm a basing minimalist. I want the model to be the center of attention, not the base!
