Black2Jack1
I recently had my first game, which put me in a even more frenzied state of GW spending. Everything was fine but I had trouble fighting off my opponents obliterators with plasma cannons which could basically hit me almost the length of the table. I tried several times to take them out with the only weapon that could reach them which was a missile launcher in one of the tac squads, which proved useless. What would any of you brothers suggest to taking out Obliterators placed firmly behind enemy lines. I lost 5 Termies in turn 2 from one shot! I would have tried to close the gap but his plague marines and Lighting claw termies slowed me down, I think he had abbadon too. I currently have a Land Raider, Vindicator and 10X Assault Termies on their way which I plan to use on the very expense TH/SS loadout. Wolf scouts coming from behind would have been a decent way to at least start dealing with them....you cant always count on it but its a start. Or how about a squad of long fangs with plasma cannons? Black2Jack1
For now im going to hold off on the Long Fangs, But the scouts seem like a good idea. But the SW battleforce set that came with them didn't provide me with the weapons I want other then one plasma pistol. Niiai
First of all we do not have tactical squads. I do not know if you want to play regular SM or SW. I will asume SW. Some people suggested wolf scouts but I do not like them that mutch. If you had the vindicator I would start shooting his terminators. It depends on how you came equiped but if you can outshoot your oponent then go for it. Vindicator vs termies = nice. Other suggestions would be: a) drop pod with 10 GH, fist, mark, 2x plasma and banner. Land, rapid fire, lose some to plasma shots (one turn your terminators do not get shot at) and charge what is left. The fist and mark should be good. Worst case senario you tie him down. b ) Drop pod with 5 wolf guards, 3 with twin melta and 2 with twin plasma. (150 points kills whatever you need.) c) A wolf lord on a wolf in a thunderwolf squad, when he plasma's you just remove the 10 point wolves, second turn of combat charge something 12" and never get shot again. d) Get your temrinators into melle. e) simply counter deploy your forces so that you do not have to fight in his terms (depend son the map and you flexabilaty in the army list) f) plasma his obliterators (long fangs/dread /kittet up razorback) g) get your terminators in cover just somethoughts Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202551-wolflord-experience/#findComment-2413670 Share on other sites
JMac
How about a drop pod or two? Dropping GH behind a unit and unleashing up to 20 shots can be deadly, even against 2+ save. Plus if you have two drop pods you can plop one done in the first turn to tie them up for at least a turn, maybe two. Stormshrug
Wolf scouts coming from behind would have been a decent way to at least start dealing with them....you cant always count on it but its a start. Or how about a squad of long fangs with plasma cannons? I think this is probably the right idea. A Wolf Scout pack with a Meltagun, two Power Weapons (or Plasma Pistols), and a Pack Leader with a combi-Melta and a Wolf Claw would make short work of them simply by denying so many of their 2+ saves. -Stormshrug Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202551-wolflord-experience/#findComment-2413726 Share on other sites

Honestly, your best option is Lascannon fire. Every Lascannon shot will wound on a 2+ and will remove the model since it is Instant death. There is few if any problems that cannot be solved with the application of 5 Bad ass Long Fangs Weilding Lascannons with chainsword bayonets. My Long fangs have taken down every target I have ever aimed them at. Thinking on that...I now have a perfect solution to my Blood Angel problem lol. RunningWolfFenris
Fight plasma with more plasma, or lascannons since they have a longer range. Like Requiem said, a lascannon is an insta kill since they only have toughness 4. Also, it sounds stupid, but if briefly playing Catachans/IG (i've seen the SW light though so don't worry people) taught me anything, it doesn't matter how bad the gun is, put enough lead/las/bolts/whatever in the air and something usually falls down. Not efficient, but can get the job done. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202551-wolflord-experience/#findComment-2413895 Share on other sites

Lascannons are your best hope...as HTH is not going to work very well against them unless you got ALOT of Power weapons. IronWITHyou
Well, personally i never had problems with them , and i regularly face 6-9 of them.... what is the best solution to counter them ? wolf scouts, that hed been said , but not with that loadout, IF YOU WANT THEM SPECIFICALLY TARGET AT OBLITERATORS... against them, the best setup is a meltagun, and atached wolf guard with combi melta and a POWER FIST... now you have three things that are giving them autokill, and there is really a small chance that they would survive this autokill menace... maybe one or two of the two will survive to hit with their fists, but losing two or so scouts isnt that much a problem, since you are slicing his 150/225 pts unit with your power fist into pieces.... laser/laser-plasma razorbacks are somewhat usefull, but not as those scouts.... back them up with a GH squad having a meltagun and a wolf guard again with a power fist and combi melta, once you drop you should be able to kill at least one of them, survive the shooting payback and then charge the rest in the folowing turn.... BUT my best sugestion is one or two of those scouts, plus 4-5 wolf guards with just combi meltas in a drop pod who will shot then to autokill death.... frankly my oponents stopped using so much obliterators and now play a fairly more ,,normal,, list (no lash/oblit spam) therefore - mission acomplished.....
