CainTheHunter
OK, let's get to the point. I managed to get very cheaply several sprues of Chaos warriors for that very well know WG conversion. They allow me to make seven Wolf guards with powerweapons. I am thinking about giving them some plasma and sticking them into drop pod. The question is - should I give them combiplasmas (an easy conversion) of plasma pistols? In other words, extra shot after dropping down vs. a possible extra attack next turn (after they have recieved due attention from enemy shooting phase). hmk17
hmm... So Sternguard base, eh? Combi-weapons: can rapid fire for a greater potential range Hidden punch cheap One-time use Plasma lose assault potential after firing Plasma Pistol: +1 attack always packing a punch Can assault after firing short range moderately more expensive If you are trying to completely emulate Sternguard, then go Combi-weapons for the drop pod assault. As you can position and should be able to drop 14 plasma shots into whatever you are dropping on. You'll lose out on the extra +1 attack for not having a pistol, but for WG it's not too important unless you are trying to build a melee blender unit. You also save 35 points on the unit. If you want just a solid hard hitting unit to drop in, then go with the plasma pistols. With plasma and power weapons, the WG will be close range monsters. CainTheHunter
Yeah, that's what I was thinking also. The fact that I am podding shifts me towards combiweapons, since I wouln't be able to assault anyways... How about adding some termies as well, say assault cannon or heavy flamer WG?
