Dahak
What do you guys think? Is it worth the points to have the dread a librarian? Its 175 pts, and I was thinknig of drop odding it in the enemy's face? Durable enough or point sink??
JamesI
I haven't gotten to try mine yet, but my instinct is it will be a points sink. A very impressive looking points sink, but a points sink nonetheless.

MuGGzy
I dunno I kinda like the idea of a Jump Packing Dread!
Brother_Kluft
Ive been running it a lot lately. I ran it in Ard boys, and then the next week in a doubles tournament. I ran it with Blood lance and Shield of Sanguinus in a pod. It was totally worth its points! With shield of Sang you can shoot in your phase then get a 5+ cover (which is almost as good as normal cover). It comes down, can wreck a few tanks, then throw up shields and absorb a LOT of firepower before going down. One benefit is that it WILL draw all kinds of melta fire to it, thus leting your other heavies get closer. It presents a choice to your enemy, either let the Dread run amok or let the land raider get closer. Presenting your enemy with hard choices is always a good thing. Against mech armies (especially guard) it can be devestating, they like to make big lines of tanks, and hey the blood lance makes a big line of doom. Perfect fit. Dont worry about making your points back with it, just love the fact that it has a good chance to wreck things, and provides a huge distraction. If they choose to ignore it, well then thats even better!
Burningblood
I wouldn't drop pod one though. The idea of a flying flipping dreadnought is just too awesome.
Rybnick
I've run one a few times now, once jumping across the table and twice in DP's. While the JP dread is hilariously awesome, I find he typically accomplishes more for me when he is drop podded in. Not only does it allow the dread to threaten the enemy much quicker, it does provide some tough choices for your enemy. Ignore the dread and let him assault something next turn or focus some fire on him and ignore my advance. I've also noticed that podding in dreads has caused a few opponents to reserve more than they should have in the start so they have less on the table to threaten me and I have less stuff to focus more attntion on. Also their reserves coming in piecemeal can be very helpful as well. I think psychic power wise for a pod dread blood lance and shield are pretty darned good choices, although fear of darkness and shield could be useful in some situations. Dahak
Thanks for all the advice, it really has made me rethink the dread. Because I have not had much success with it. I like the shield and lance combo. I will give it a try in my next game.
mysteriousmaskedmystery
i dont' like the lance power now that it grants a cover save to every unit after the first. you only cause one wound per unit and odds a fairly good you're only going to get two units, and even that only if you're lucky. but that might just be my experience. i like WoS, but the close combat oriented powers are good too and SoS seems like a must any more. in a small 1000 point game my libby dread managed to help bring down a hive tyrant and fizzle several zoanthropes before crushing a large brood of guants who ran when i killed all the synapse creatures in range, and then finally he single handedly beat a trygon which only managed to immobilize him. he definitely made his points back.
