Arjac or wolf lord?

Hi, ive had this arjac converted up for a 2 months or so now, and i cant decide if i want to use him as arjac, or switch his thunder hammer for a frost blade and use him as a wolf lord alongside ragnar?

Magnetize that arm and a frostblade arm and have both whenever you feel like one or the other.

how do you want to use him? will your lord cost more the arjac? do you like arjac? what else do you plan to run? do you need a hero/MC killer?

Actually, instead of a wolf lord, it would most likely be a battle leader, which would make him the way i want to kit him only 5 points more than arjac, so using either one or the other has its advantages and disadvantages. Also, if I used him as a battle leader, it gives me a chance to write his own fluff/saga which i enjoy doing and gives a sense of uniqueness to the model.

That would also free up a hq choice i suppose.

Other than arjac, the only other way to get str 10 in your list is by using a Thunderwolf mount. I have recently started using Arjac, and I'm in love. I use him in a squad of GH's. Basically I look at Arjac as an HQ that scores. IMO str 10 is worlds above str 8, as you will almost always wound on a 2 where as str 8 might need 4s vs some units. If your unit ends up in combat with furioso's and iron clad dreads, then your unit can be bogged down and slowly ground to death if you struggle to pen armor 13. Str 10 is HUGE threat. Plus arjac also wears a WTN which I find to be an amazing piece of wargear.

2 Wounds and Saga of the Bear,Terminator Armor and a Storm Shield is also quite nice. The extra +1 attack on the first round of combat is spiffy too.

Change the number of Grey Hunters and the LR to your flavor of course.

 

Now with Arjac alone, thats between 6-8 str 10 thunderhammer hits. Throw in his rerolls, and the rerolls from the banner and there is no one thing you wont kill.

 

While this unit will stomp anything into the ground on the charge, odds are it will kill anything it charges and then be totally blown to ;) next turn. But gosh would it be fun to see the look of dismay on your oppenets face when this unit charge out of a LR and instantly kills his biggest baddest unit.

 

Personally, im going to be feilding Arjac AS my wolf lord, and im thinking of the lore being that he is so beloved by his men, that the will throw themselves before him to die eagerly. Thus, he cant be picked out of a squad.

Hositly though they shoulda made Arjac an upgrade for a WGBL.. basicly that is how it would play out anyway, as a Wolf Guard he basicly would lead the troops. Anyway, you can make your own story and say he is a much beloved wolf lord, or you can say he is actually Arjac and tool your force up to be part of Logan's company, just without Logan, which is fine IMO, im guessing he would send his best Wolf Guard off to lead detachments of troops often enough.

 

Could also say he is a bit of a coward, if you want another twist. Perhaps akin to Lukas, and you just cant pick him out of the squad becouse someone else will always just manage to be unlucky enough to take the blow for him!
