Chingford
My BA Army is finally taking shape and will be posting some WIP pictures soon, as I've said in a previous post im an old BA player returning from a 8 yr break. So im a bit out of touch with the rules and need some help. I've got some squads that require the brains of an experienced player to advise on. I need to assign one these special characters to the squads below to booster their ability but having no idea which will produce best results I ask you my BA brothers. I have 1 librarian, 1 Chaplin and 2 sang priest and a 10 Man Tactical Squad 9 Man Assault Squad + a 10 Man Assault Squad 5 Man Devastator Squad to give you an idea of what else might be included Dante Mephiston Corbulo Tycho Terminator Captain Terminator Chaplin and librarian 5 Terminators and 5 Assault Terminators 1 Baal Pred 1 Vindicator 16 DC Squad with Lemartes 8 Bike Squad + Side Car 2 Land Speeders 3 Dreads Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202700-squad-arrangements/ Share on other sites
Roark2
What point cost list are you aiming for? You have a variety of units to work with, although I am not a fan of BA Tac squads. 10 Tactical w/ Razorback Combat squad the Tacticals, and add a Sang. Priest. The heavy weapon sits back while the other half of the squad and the Sang. Priest move forward in the Razorback. The idea with this is that the Priest's ability works out 6 inches from the Razorback, so he never leaves it. You drive toward what your Assault squads are going to hit so they can take advantage of his ability. With only one forward vehicle the Razorback is going to take a lot of fire. So you are going to have to support it with others. Where I play I need to have the hood from the Librarian, as there are a lot of strong psyker lists out there. So first suggestion would be the Librarian. If you do not need it as much, run the Chaplain as your HQ. His abilities make the Assault squad he will be attached with so much better. With the Assault squads I like to run meltas. They are your anti tank and anti MC. Two (or three) Dreadnoughts with twinlinked autocannons are really great support units. They have great range and can throw down a pretty impressive flurry of strength 7 shots. I like these because they stop light vehicles and transports, allowing your Assault squads to get at the fleshy bits that spill out of them. It is important to run them as a pair, it makes it much much harder to hide vehicles with two fire lanes. There are a lot of other posts about Mephiston, and they are all dead on. He is a beast, he usually makes more than his points back. Depending on your list size, he is a great option. If you have the points, check out the Honour Guard. They come with a "free" (as in not on the TOC) Sang. Priest, and are cheaper than an equivalent Tactical or Assault squad with a Sang. Priest attached. You gain attacks, but lose an ablative wound. They are not scoring units though, which is a downside. Your Terminators can be quite the monster if they can get a Sang. Priest with or near them. You need a way to get them where they need to be fast. Without transport, they will be shot down pretty quick.
