cptphoenixck
I was thinking about fielding 2 deathstar units in my army, which usually play against Tyranids, and wanted to include a sizable DC w. chap and also a 5 man TH Terminator squad w. chapin and priest; both in LR's one crusader and one redeemer. I'm not sure if the crusader wouldnt work better with the DC though as i'd be fielding would be anti-horde. What do you guys think of this? Tokunator
I am not a big fan of DC against Tyranids because there are so many things in the 'Nid army that can bypass FNP in close combat, so you end up paying loads of points for a unit that is marginally better than Assault Marines at nearly twice the price. Walter Payton
For 1650 ponts you can have 30 Death Company with Jump Packs and Thunder Hammers... "Carnifex? What Carnifex?" :to:
mysteriousmaskedmystery
yeah, for 'nids, unless they are playing gaunt hordes, and seriously, does anyone play gaunt hordes? you need to take enough fire power to kill his T6 MC. assault cannons, ML, MG, LC, stuff like that. Predators are great since the only ways he has to kill them are assaulting MC and zoanthropes, which you should be concentrating all your small arms fire on. use your troops to squash his zoanthropes, and hive guard if he has those and use razorbacks, predators and vindicators to stomp his bigger stuff. if he plays with a few hordes of gaunts as a screen, then you have to make a choice, do i try to thin them out so that they won't tie me up in CC, preventing me from shooting his bigger stuff? or do shoot up his bigger stuff now because i might not get to shoot much later anyway? at some point he's going to charge in with virtually everything he has so really, you're just trying to thin out what he has before then, since most of his really nasty CC creatures, or, as i like to say, everything but gaunts and stealers will ignore your armor saves, you aren't going to get as much from FNP or high armor saves. terminators cans still make a solid block of resistance, though i like tactical terminators, their SB and AC should put out some serious fire power and he might be intimidated to run into CC with them for fear of all the fists, if not, go with TH/SS so that your invulnerables go up and you're still able to seriously threaten his big MC. really, with 'nids, it's all about killing T6 multi-wound creatures, everything else is squishy and should get hammered by a tac squad or RAS. if you think you can do it all in CC, well, good luck to you, but i really don't feel that confident about it. oh, and lastly, VGV can use heroic intervention to squash his zoanthropes if you're lucky, but he might surround them with warriors or gaunts to, so it's not something you can count on, VGV can normally find something to assault the turn they arrive in my experience. Twin .44
Forgive my ignorance but what exactly is a death star army?
Looted Monolith
Anything that is fully kited out and over pointed to start with. Usually obliterates enemy units. It is Quality over Quantity.
Menos
My death star list: Meph Sanguinator HG Pwpn BC Chapter Banner Melta Rhino DC x5 PF Rhino Chaplain & SP (Pwpn) DC Dread MG HF RAS x8 PF Melta Rhino Chaplain & SP (Pwpn) Everything is scary. Everything has a potential to react and counter react. Haven't won with it yet, but I'm still coming out of a 9 year slump... And yes I know there is no Anti-tank (except for two little melterguns). Thats half the battle!
