tehkonraf
Well, after my other IA (Dark Sentinels) sank into the murk of the Liber for all time (or when I can get my act together enough for a re-write). I have decided to bring forth another of my ideas, the Princes of Virtue. These guys are going to be linked with my Index Traitoris: Lords of the End (when I get around to doing that). Without further ado, heres my preliminary ideas: http://i748.photobucket.com/albums/xx125/tehkonraf/PrinceofVirtue.jpg - Battle Brother http://i748.photobucket.com/albums/xx125/tehkonraf/POVcaptain.jpg - Company Captain/Champion/Special Chap PRINCES OF VIRTUE: Origins: • 20th Founding • Parent Chapter: Lords Obedient-Now known as Lords of the End (Traitors) • Formed to deal with chaos raiders in Segmentum Pacificus History: • Cadre of Lords Obedient trains new chapter. Close ties established. • The two chapters liberate the (inset name) system from Orkish rule, home-world of Carnist chosen. Knightly culture + recruitment from aristocracy gives them their name. • Chapter embarks on huge crusade for a century, fighting against the nurgle-uprising affected Gorthet system. • Upon return find out their parent chapter has gone renegade and desecrated the cardinal world of (name). • Soon after this inquisitorial strike forces land on Carnist and demand to interrogate the chapter. The Chapter Master (name), knowing his force is too under strength to fight gives in. • They are found clean of taint, but their relationship with the Lords Obedient means that they’re considered dishonoured by proxy. • Since then (and a period of rebuilding) the Chapter has crusaded across the Galaxy, searching to end their twisted primogenitors, and be redeemed. Home-world: • Carnist. World of aristocrats lording over hordes of peasants and serf-itors* • Plentiful crops grown, agri-world. • Local honour-duel culture, Knightly tournaments, servitor hunts etc. Beliefs: • Before the LO’s betrayal they were a fairly optimistic chapter, bent on bringing the Emperors light across the galaxy. • Having faced the horrors of the walking, plagued, dead and the shock of their ‘Fathers’ betrayal, they are now far more ruthless and desperate. • Honour culture: Unless the Lords of the End are defeated, then the Princes of Virtue will never sit by the Emperors side, and will be lost spirits. • The emperor as transcended man, who is NOW a god. Gene seed: • Guilliman • Untainted, though subject to many tests, to see if the LO passed on some kind of mutation. Combat Doctrine: • Codex following. Generally. • An emphasis on orbital assaults. • Lots of land speeders and bikes, knightly trappings • Stealthy tactics and the use of ambush considered dishonourable. Organisation: • Codex organisation. • They aren’t arranged in separate ‘knightly order’ style companies, such distinctions are meaningless once they have been ascended to Astartes-hood. • They have a shortage of Terminator suits and Dreadnought armours due to the Inquisitorial sanctions. Battle Cry: “His will by our hands!” And when fighting the Lords of the End. “Redemption!” *see what I did there? So, all comments and critiques MOST welcome. Ferrata
Everything seems good at the moment, no glaring errors of judgement and terrible mistakes in the background. I am not sold on the colour scheme, it looks a little complicated, maybe consider dropping one of the colours. Remember, the Tyranids have only recently turned up, so all their recent history (since the fall of the Lords) will have had to happened in a very short timeline. Depending on how recent you want this sting in their past, you might need to change the enemy to someone else. tehkonraf
Thanks Ferrata. I think I see what you mean about the scheme, but I am unsure about which colour to drop, perhaps the yellow shoulder pads? Thanks for the Tyranids tid-bit. I feel like I want a greater length of time for the Princes' hunt to have been going on, so I'll change that, but what to? I'm thinking maybe a daemonic infestation, or a nurglite plague-system full of gribbly mutants and whatnot. The idea is that they've been through demoralizing (insofar as marines get demoralized) 'meat-grinder' warfare for near a century, and then on return are struck by the news that their forefathers and gene-brothers have started chaos-ing up the place. Sets up the whole 'desperate quest to redeem our honour' thingy. As always C&C welcome, appreciated and rewarded* *in the next life, by the Emperor. Ferrata
Nurgle zombie plague would quite well. What could be more demoralising than fighting a foe that the very next day comes back again and again and again... tehkonraf
Cool, I think I'll go and add that in now. It would also do well for my bunch of princes to have to fight hordes of revolting* peasants. *see what I did there? Also, here's my simplified colourscheme: What do you think? http://i748.photobucket.com/albums/xx125/tehkonraf/PrinceofVirtuecolourscheme2.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202756-princes-of-virtue/#findComment-2416519 Share on other sites
tehkonraf
I'm currently wondering which of the two main thematic constructs (for this IA) of the Princes of Virtue to follow. Obviously the secondary one would still be present but it would be, secondary. Anyway heres the two options: 1: Children of Traitors: How does a loyalist chapter deal when it's (very close) parent rebels and serves the Dark Gods, soul searching sort of stuff here. or 2:Arrogant Space Aristocrats: How does an incredibly arrogant chapter try to save face when a chapter it's closely associated with bails from the Emperors light? Does it go uber-pious or what. As always C&C welcome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202756-princes-of-virtue/#findComment-2418453 Share on other sites
