Malignus
I based this model off of my own drawing of what I believe Maxim Absolon, Chapter Master of the Marines Exemplar, would look like. I took parts from about three or four different models and packs to make him. I was originally going to use the body of the Emperor's Champion, but then I saw that he was a bit too slender for my wants. I wanted my Chapter Master to be on about the same scale as a Terminator while still wearing power armor. My concept art for Maxim Absolon: http://perochial-joe.deviantart.com/#/d2p1a2f EDIT: Please post more web friendly pictures in the future. 4000x3000, 1.5meg pics are not web friendly. Images turned into links. -- Kurgan http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/6523/picture003ez.jpg http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/7931/picture002bp.jpg http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/2051/picture001ys.jpg This is easily the most conversion work that I have done on any model before. I am currently trying to think of something special I could do for his base, since I went through all the trouble to make him a unique unit, I want him to have a unique-looking base. If anybody has any ideas, feel free to let me know. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202818-chapter-master-conversion/ Share on other sites
Gaz1858
Nice model! As for the base how about mounting him a bit further to the right(our right viewing the pic) and then have an enemy, your choice reaching for him from the ground on the left side of the base. What im getting at is the storm bolter could be finishing off an enemy even as he is charging forward to take on another. Wheres the backpack from? Is that Saint Celestine? Jim AMM realgenius
Looks good! Tell us all the parts you use, if you would. For the base, I recommend Hero's Base Set, Slate Wasteland from Dragonforge. Check out: http://dragonforge.com/Painting%20service/...e_wasteland.htm It has some nice details, it high but isn't so busy and detailed that it will take away from the model. Malignus
Alright, here are the packs that I took parts from: Backpack and body: Chapter Master Gabriel Seth (Flesh Tearers) Storm Bolter arm: Terminator Captain Lightning claw: Assault Marines Head: Emperor's Champion Additional pauldron armor: Terminators Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202818-chapter-master-conversion/#findComment-2417609 Share on other sites
Malignus
Just got around to priming him http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/2385/picture001rj.jpg http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/2793/picture002tn.jpg http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/2395/1003138.jpg Done I decided to go with a more simple base for two reasons: 1. The rest of my army has simple bases 2. With that lightning claw, he takes up the entire length of it XD Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202818-chapter-master-conversion/#findComment-2422867 Share on other sites
empchildrenbob
why are his arms way bigger than his body? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202818-chapter-master-conversion/#findComment-2479315 Share on other sites
Malignus
His right arm looks like that because he has a storm bolter mounted to his wrist. His left arm is like that because he has a lightning claw and those are always really big. Tsuro
I wish I'd spotted this thread before you painted the model. The lightning claw arm is from a plastic terminator, which is taller than a regular marine. Thats why it looks too big here; theres a reason most converters use the new terminator bits when they try to 'scale' their marines larger. Although the right arm also comes from a terminator, it doesn't look as off because it's from the metal terminator captain which is of the older (and smaller) terminator design. Aside from that small scaling issue you've done a good job with the converting, especially as working with metal can be a real nuisance. Malignus
Yeah, but when those parts only really exist as the larger terminators, there's not a whole lot you can do. I don't think that the lightning claw arm is really that much of an issue considering how the power fist weapons are always huge on normal marines anyway. But as for working with metal, yeah. Cutting that helmet off from the Emperor's Champion model was a titanic pain in the ass. Terminatorinhell
you could have used the power claw and storm bolter from the plastic SM captain set. Malignus
I could have except for the fact that I don't have that set and neither does the store I buy my models from. Brother Kovash
The model turned out very nice, good job. And I'm glad you went with a simple base, I do the same myself. Malignus
Yeah, I originally was planning on doing a really detailed one, but after looking around here a bit and seeing so many amazing models with plain bases, I decided against it. Glad you like it, too. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202818-chapter-master-conversion/#findComment-2480257 Share on other sites

CREATOR_OF_ALL_SINS
I would've liked to see him jumping off a rock (chunk of cork).
