JMac
It seems many people focus on Arjac's awesome shield, The Anvil, when modeling him. Which they should, but every model I've been seeing has been overlooking The Foehammer IMO. As well as beefing up the stock SS, I want to trick out him Foehammer to something that I've never seen before. Since The Foehammer has its unique teleport ability that enables Arjac to throw it as a ranged weapon, I intend to model this. My problem lies in what is the best way to do this? One solution I came up with is to simply GS it then paint it black. Also, possibly make it removable by drilling into the base to ensure safe storage. Any suggestions are welcome :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202878-my-take-on-arjac/ Share on other sites

Any suggestions are welcome :D I think making it removeable is unneccessary. Honestly I would beef up the size of it,reinforce the idea that this is a Massive peice of adamantite being swung at someones face. One of the Ideas I had for a Grey hunter that I was going to equip with a Power fist equivalent, was to greenskin him from the ground up,making him about 15% larger then the rest and giving him the barrel and part of the turret of a IG or Chaos Vehicle as a weapon. Wispy
No, I would not make the foe hamemr bigger. I'd make the hammer shorter. anyone who knows norse myth knows what I'm talking about Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202878-my-take-on-arjac/#findComment-2418983 Share on other sites
Marmande
I wouldn't worry about the hammer so much as the guy throwing it; I'd think about using some plasticard to add some height at the hips and knees to make Arjac just a bit taller than the other Terminators. spjaco
Yep, for throwing. Check out some Dwarven Hammers from Warhammer Fantasy. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202878-my-take-on-arjac/#findComment-2418990 Share on other sites
hmk17
Went with the plastic version of this hammer as my base. Waiting on a few parts to come in before I can get the modified piece ready Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202878-my-take-on-arjac/#findComment-2419035 Share on other sites

While the haft of Mjolnir wasn't that long, the head was pretty nicely sized. Loketh
Well for mine I started with the Wolf Guard Terminator box. I then used the awesome Wulfrik the Wanderer head from WFB, and gave him the shield that the Dwarf King Alric stands on in his hand. I replaced the hammer head with the anvil from the top of the Ironbreaker standard and put a smaller anvil on his back as his "backbanner." I also used the awesome cape from the WGT sprue with the cape part chopped off. No pics unfortunately but he looks epic. Schertenleib
Personally, once I get around to modeling up one of my own, I'm planning to attach the hammer to the hand with a bit of flight base so that the hammer is flying away towards his target. WG Vrox
This is a WIP that I started awhile back. I didnt create a new hammer instead I beefed up a standard one. maybe it will give you some ideas, or maybe not. make sure you keep us updated on your WIP as you work on it. JMac
I appreciate all the input my fellow brothers, but I am somewhat set on making this hammer fly! I now understand that it is important to 'beef up' the hammer, but I would like some advice in how to model the hammer in mid air. I like the idea that Schertenleib brought up of just giving it the illusion of it on its way out of Arjac's hand. Maybe we can build off that. C'mon guys we need some ultimate brainstorming... Lets brain-hurricane! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202878-my-take-on-arjac/#findComment-2419774 Share on other sites

Lets brain-hurricane! Well first off,you are going to want the clear plastic that they use for attaching the flying vehicles to their bases. You will more then likely either have to find a hand from ...well probably fantasy or Greenskin it yourself to make it look right. Might have to chop it at the wrist and rotate the hand to make it look more natural...since most people can't throw a hammer side hand, but other then that yeah that would awesomely. AND its big enough that it wouldn't look out of place on a Terminator. So all you would need to do is put the clear plastic base thingy on it and you should be good to go. Schertenleib
If your not opposed to cutting the wrist for a change of position what about the open supporting hand from a missile laucher figure. Well...that wouldn't really support a thrown hammer would it? I mean, open hand, one thumb sticking out? That's what I thought of as well. The missle launcher hand, set sideways, like a karate chop action, would look like an open hand that just released the hammer. As for flying hammer, some ideas. Attach the hammer to one of the clear flying base posts, and put it on it's own, 22mm base. Or attach it to the front edge of Ajrac's base. Another thought I had is use some thin steel rod found at a hobby shop. Ask them if they have steel rods use in model rocket launch pads. Usually there is a wide range of these from 1mm and up. I have a couple of them myself. Then you can attach the hammer to the throwing hand with some of this. Maybe paint the rod white and clear laquer it so it kind of blends out of sight. Just keep it short maybe 1-2" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202878-my-take-on-arjac/#findComment-2420444 Share on other sites
