ImperialReaper
Maybe stupid but therefore short question: I just finished assembling an assault squad. While looking over the parts I thaught I could spice them up a bit by making one guy having 2 plasmapistols like in John Woo movies. Then I made another one with 2 Chainswords. Now that I did this I wondered why I have not come across any other miniatures which where modelled like this. Is this a fancy new idea which noone had before, or is this something everyone does and therefore noone even bothers to post pictures of such models or to write about this ? Doc Faolan
It's by no means a new idea, and a lot of people, to my knowledge, do it. Still, the lack of decent pictures up of it is a bit annoying at times :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202918-model-conversations-with-2-guns/#findComment-2418675 Share on other sites
pingo
It's not unheard of. GW have done it: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...dId=prod1130401 Can look cool :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202918-model-conversations-with-2-guns/#findComment-2418677 Share on other sites
Hfran Morkai
I think it might be a WYSIWYG issue, some people are particularly anal about such issues. For example say I had a Blood Claw with 2 Bolt Pistols and another with two Chainswords and the one modeled with two Bolt Pistols dies, someone might just (if they're a real tool) say that the Blood Claw with two Chainswords can't shoot. It's all rubbish of course, everyone knows a Marine can throw a Chainsword about the range of a Bolt Pistol. :D I actually model my Mark of the Wulfen models with two of the Templar Chainswords because it looks interesting and the chains are to allow him to throw them and reel them back in. CarbonCopy
Other than specific characters, double-pistol or (even worse) double-bolter is exceptionally Noob-ish. Just my opinion. Tropicana
Hey, I tried it! But you're right, it did turn out exceedinly Noobish. A Bolter slash Bolt Pistol and Grenade is much better. Durus
The double boltpistol is valid though. Works perfectly in terms of WYSIWYG, as you can only shoot one weapon in the shooting phase and the pistol counts as CCW in melee. So a whole squad wielding double boltpistols like seraphim do would be alright (with me) and even make for a nice visual change (in my opinion). But having half a squad equipped with double BPs and the other with dual CCWs does look like you were confused when building them (again, in my opinion :P ). KhorneHunter57x
A Bolter slash Bolt Pistol and Grenade is much better. Or even better: Bolter or Combi-weapon and Bolt Pistol. I have done this with a couple Marines and it looks pretty sweet. Additionally, no one can complain about it being an "illegal mini" or some such idiotic complaint. Brother Rathul
Wouldn't you loose your extra close combat attack? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202918-model-conversations-with-2-guns/#findComment-2419431 Share on other sites
ImperialReaper
As I said I now have one model with 2 plasmapistols (looks pretty badass to me) and another one with 2 chainswords whcih may look a little bit noobish. But in the end it looks pretty cool on the table and it looks diferent from all the other assaulttroops in the club. By the way - is WYSIWYG such a big topic after all? I have never played with anyone who has played according to this rule before or who wanted to play this way since they all agreed that this rule mainly is in place to force people to buy more of the GW products. KhorneHunter57x
Wouldn't you loose your extra close combat attack? I meant doing it for Tactical Marines and Sternguard, in which case they don't have 2 one-handed weapons.
