AoBR Conversions

Recommended Posts

While the AoBR box is indeed a wonderful kit for new and old players, sometimes you really don't need another BP/CCW Sergeant or perhaps one of those new sets of Terminator armor are more deserved by a company captain who's just returned from a hugely successful crusade. Maybe that Dreadnought just needed a little extra something. ((Or perhaps a very big, Seismic Hammer-sized something. You know who you are))

The Librarian I made from the Termie Sergeant also heralds my first real use of Greenstuff so the quality isn't as good as I'd have liked, but it looks like a Libby so I'm happy.

In all honesty I kinda cheated since everything but the force weapon was carved out of already-cured GS. The other conversions I did were far simpler.

@ Dave; Thanks for showing me your =][= Lord, after I saw the picture I thought to myself that this could be made easy "count as" Sicarius model. My conversion won't be as fancy as few others showed in this topic, but can't wait to start with it. I also converted my dread, though only swapping melta cannon with old tin assault-cannon.

Bravo gentlemen. These Dreads are just beautiful! I'm particularly stunned by Vaaish's. How the heck did you make that? And Sowrd Brethren's leaves me awestruck every time I see it. Anyone wanna share secrets to their success? *is a shameless tutorial mooch*

But does this mean nobody did anything with their infantry? Edit: Seems Rich did, he just snuck in while I was typing.

and here they are.

There are 4 that are modified from standard.

These were painted a year ago after I just started again so these need detailing

Dave: I don't really have a tutorial for how I did it since most of my modeling falls into the intuitive rather than fully planned category. Ie. I start with a basic idea of where I'm going and up shapes and detail from there. What I do have are the construction pics showing the plasticard and GS layers. You should be able to deconstruct what I did from those. Overall I think I used mostly plasticard strip in various widths and some 1mm sheets to fabricate things like the ankh. If you are interested in those, they start here. They is some epic stuff in between, but there aren't too many large jumps between updates.

And a rather old photo of my dread. I've finished the painting now but never got round to taking another photo.

Not much of a mod to this dread, just making a heavy flamer and the lettering on the sarcophagus.

Slightly reposed the leg on this guy and used a spare TLLC.

Gave the Captain a SS and AGL:

New weapon for the Sarge, and reoriented the heads on the rest.

My pictures:

3 Sergeants (I like the one in the middle best). Simple but effective conversions:

Assault-Terminators (bodies AoBR):

Venerable Dread (adding a couple of bits goes a long way):

Nothing too fancy all in all but you can well see how good a basis the models are for doing something nice with them. For the cheap price they come to begin with.
