Tropicana
I was wondering if there are any Painters out there who have done Split Paint Schemes, as in the Burning Hearts illustrated Bottom-Right Below? http://www.philipsibbering.com/WH40KRP/100...ng%20Hearts.jpg And, if so, are there any ways to ensure a Straight-Meet in the Line down the Center of the Power Armour? Are there any 'Tricks of the Trade' to ensure this? Or can anybody think of any? Durus
This question comes up on a regular basis. Use the search function and you should find answers to all your questions. As a rule of thumb: Paint light colors. Paint dark colors. (They tend to cover better.) You just need a proper brush and a steady hand, because most areas on the miniatures are very accessible (at least if you leave the bolter off) and you just have to make short straight lines. Tropicana
Sorry, will search more thoroughly and carefully in the future. I thought of Masking Tape, like when you're doing Stripe Pattern on Vehicles? For example, I have a 'Danger-Stripes' Razorback Rear Hatch which is done with Masking Tape, and looks great! But I don't think it would be so applicable to the curving, dynamic Power Armoured models. Oh well, back to the drawing board. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202935-painting-a-split-scheme/#findComment-2418844 Share on other sites
Durus
As I said try the search function. I think I remember somebody using tamyia masking tape. I think I also read somebody mentioning drawing lines with a pencil first. There are as many methods to achieve this look as there are painters, I was just trying to give a quick overview. Most people just seem paint the lines and go back to correct the few that went bad. Tends to be faster then to use masking tape on every single marine and possibly having to go back anyways because some paint went under the tape or something. I'm also under the impression that it isn't really harder or more time consuming than painting any other scheme. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202935-painting-a-split-scheme/#findComment-2418864 Share on other sites
Tropicana
I like the Pencil-Line Idea. See, the reason I'm inquiring is because I'm going for a Templar-Spinnof Scheme for the High Marshall you've already seen in another PCA Thread of mine. ^_^ The Scheme will be Black and White, I think. Or Red and White, as in Red Templars. Which would technically make him the Successor of a Successor of a Successor of an Original Chapter. ;) Ah well, Painting before Fluff. Narrowly. As I say, the thing's a Show Cabinet Piece, it simply has to look nice. There's nothing there about having to make sense. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202935-painting-a-split-scheme/#findComment-2418871 Share on other sites
