Jarl Bloodwolf
Just a quick update for anyone who is watching this post. I have decided on a chapter name, after doing a bit more research I found out that boars are very important in celtic mythology so I have named my chapter the Iron Boars. I will use the boar decal from the Bretonian range for their chapter symbol, and I like the idea of having a boar on the chapter banner. The name comes from what the locals call the marines as on their planet the toughest animal is the boar (its like the boars that the orks use. Big, mean and bad tempered). I am thinking of how I could even incorperate some of the new orc boar boyz mounts into my army. Maybe as fenrisian wolves but I am thinking more along the lines of pelts and such. Also I am renouncing the emoticon look I used earlier concerning kilts on marines. While I won't do it myself I came across The Ravenborn and they are AWESOME. In my opinion they are the best looking celtic chapter out there although I haven't seen them all and I haven't been ab,e to find a story about The Ravenborn. I'm not sure if Mastiff has made any Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202996-celtic-space-marines/page/2/#findComment-2425853 Share on other sites
Ace Debonair
Iron boars, eh? Fair enough - I'll keep my eyes open for the IA in the future. :P If you're not after kilts and similar, you could always paint one of the shoulders in a tartan pattern (maybe on sergeants or other ranking officers?) to display the celtic influence. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/202996-celtic-space-marines/page/2/#findComment-2425864 Share on other sites

For instance the planets populace are based off of the Picts and Woads (who didnt have kilts or anything like that) and were very connected with nature, but on the other hand my chapter will be more closely related to the Saxons that setteled Britian during the Roman downfall so my chapter will be a mix between the saxon and celtic cultures. For instance I will use Pict inspired designs for warpaint on my models armor but I will also use viking runes and carvings. I will also use aspects taken from other time periods, for instance my chapter master (counts as Logan) will have a claymore which was more prevailant later in scottish history. And of course I will use elements from norse and celtic mythology, for instance in norse mythology dwarfs were master craftsmen who created most of the great works of the gods (my chapter is skilled at making weapons and armor due to their relations with the mechanicum). And of course I have incorperated the celtic with of the Banshee into my chapter by having the chapter fight against Eldar Banshees. And I am begining the first draft for the IA and will post it later today. And concerning the tartans I could use it to represent squad markins on the knee pads. Originally I was going to use runes but when I decide on my paint scheme I will see how it looks in a test.
