The Lost Art of Painting Orange.

Recommended Posts

I've read articles on painting for almost as long as I've been into 40k, because without them I would probably still be stuck turning potentially perfect models into something that even Nurgle would frown at :( and have painted some decent models because of the techniques I have learned from the endless list.

Now I've reached the point on my DIY chapter for their colours and one of them is orange... at least the correct way to paint orange with highlights, etc. which seems like something easy to to do, just that I don't want to ruin any of my future space marines (poor guy over here, so every model counts :) which is ironic considering the price of the hobby) by making a mistake on them with the wrong highlights, basecoat, etc. My reliance on stage-by-stage and instructions have made me completely devoid of free will when it comes to painting  and it seems like orange is not one of the highest used colours (from what I've seen at least).

I've searched around the web for Emperor knows how long and even flipped through the B&C forums but to no success on finding the way of doing this seemingly simple task and it's left me on the brink of madness because this colour is basically what's going to give my chapter it's personality.

Can anyone out there help a bemused fellow out? It would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!
