shatter
I use a soft nylon toothbrush to polish GS before painting. Gives a nice even surface and helps prevent the paint from texturing on work.
Grazcruzk
Yeah I do agree that it is still a bit plain/messy. If I was a pro I would take the time to strip paint and all that so I don't end up losing detail. >.> I will probably try to add some rivets using the glue dot stacking method. I don't think I'm quite good enough to go into super fine detail with the green stuff yet, but I'm getting there. Thanks for the tip, shatter. I have never tried that before. I was going to try super fine sand paper but a toothbrush sounds much better.
Grazcruzk
I've got a small update for tonight! First time using jeweler's chain. I like the look of it. I haven't had a chance to come up with a name yet but I'm thinking he's almost a Cypher-like character. The armor and axe are passed down, the new owner takes on the responsibility and the chains are a symbol of the duty he is bound to. He's getting pretty close to being done. Just need to do a bit of finishing work. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1608.jpg Also here is a picture of what I've been working on with extra green stuff. I had an old Inquisitor Lord Karamazov torso laying around and I think (when properly bulked up) it makes a great librarian torso. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1606.jpg
Grazcruzk
Hello everyone I have an update today. Sadly not for my Astorath stand in. The jump pack is proving to be more of a challenge than I thought so to avoid any further frustration I worked on my Librarian and got him finished up pretty well. This is my first attempt at a glow effect and there is plenty of room for improvement but I think I did ok for a first go. Here are a few shots, comments welcome as always. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_16101.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1612.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1610.jpg
LordofDeath11
Lol @ the converison you've got with the guy swinging a chain-axe. It's hilarious. Also, did you dry-bruch your BC marines. i really like the effect you go on them, it looks more like a fading black as apposed to a jet black and that's the kind of look I want on my ones's. Good work dude.
Grazcruzk
Thanks, and yeah I ended up doing a light dry brush. I have always had problems with getting a good black or red (which sucks because I usually do BAs or WEs) but I have this brush with super short bristles. Like almost to the point of non-existent. It's like a dry brush but you almost end up scrubbing the paint on if that makes sense.
Grazcruzk
Finally another update! Guess who is just about finished? Just need a suitable base (but then if you've seen my other posts you know I'm terrible about doing bases). Here is my yet-to-be-named stand in for Astorath the Grim. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1618.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1619.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1620.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1621.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1622.jpg cc welcome as always! Tabgoi
I like your work with green stuff. Great job on the sculpting.
Grazcruzk
Thanks Tabgoi, I think I'm starting to get pretty good at it. I have an update today! I had my idea for a DC Tycho a while back and since I've got greenstuff again but don't have the model I wanted to use originally I decided to work with what I have on hand to get to work on Asmerus the Lost (counts as DC Tycho). I have to thank sar mikael for his excellent berserker thread. When I first saw it I immediately wanted to make Asmerus bare-armed. I didn't exactly mean for him to come out so freakin big but he just kind of ended up turning into a true-scale project. That's when I decided since he was so freakishly tall compared to rest of army that I might as well make Blood Song out of a heavy bolter and a multimelta. Anyways, I kept forgetting to take WIP shots as I went so here is what I've got right now. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1629.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1630.jpg C&C are welcome as always! NExOBLIVISCARIS
your last model is an ineresting piece. does he count as being in power armor or termie? Because I see both and the heavy bolter combie is a new look. but the model looks good
Grazcruzk
Power. I just planned on using him as DC Tycho but someplace along the line he ended up being a lot larger than I had planned on. I had made up a smaller/normal sized blood song originally but it looked way too small on him. I probably should have filled in the back of the legs with greenstuff but I didn't even think about it at the time.
Grazcruzk
Hey again. I have a small update on Asmerus. I was happy with my smoothing and finishing work so I got started painting. Turns out I overlooked a few spots that I'll need to smooth out a bit better. Oh well, just wish I would've noticed before I started painting. I haven't gotten any more work done on the Blood Song but I have a few shots of him with a little paint on him. C&C welcome as always! http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1631.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1632.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1633.jpg
Grazcruzk
Hey hey again. I finished up Ayia's second incarnation today. I used black reach termie legs and torso/shoulders and an old set of metal thunder hammer/storm shield hands. I wasn't sure what to do about the obvious "glove" part of the storm shield hand so I decided to add a shield(iron halo) to his wrist.. the blood reaver is made of... old dark eldar bits... A tank trap... and I think some bike parts.. Anyways, let me know what you think.. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1646.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1648.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y221/loki114/warhammer%20stuff/IMG_1649.jpg

Grazcruzk
Thank you! The Blood Reaver isn't too over-the-top? Even if it is... What better way to say "My chapter is this close to going renegade."
