FallenLion
A newly formed Raven Guard successors were dispatched to the Caravus system to aid the Black Templars in purging the ork infested system. For the first planet the Raven's Shadows had a very successful campaign laying ambush after ambush and simply annihilating the feral orks that infested the northern hemisphere of Caravus IV. With almost half a chapter in strength the Raven's Shadows were full equipped and being newly formed desperate to prove themselves but all was not as simple as it seemed. The Black Templars lack of caution caused massive issues in the battle for Grevin the hive on Caravus V. After setting up the most elaborate of ambushes to be witnessed in the Caravus system the Ravens Shadow were poised to perfection. All with everything in place with a simple trap to lure the feral orks. There was major discontent in the ranks of the Ravens Shadow when the Black Templars charge the freshly ambushed Orks from outside the city gates and there were templars against shadows in heated duels when the battle had been won. The company commander of the Shadows personal sort out the Black templar commanding officer in a duel. Now both factions will tell tales of an epic clash between these two however the truth is that the fight lasted barely fifteen minutes ending with the templar commander with his power sword at the Shadow Commander's throat albeit a lightening talon at his abdomen. after the battle Shadow Commander Darvin met with the Crusade leader Mavic with mutual respect and after twelve days they reached an agreement. The newly formed alliance set out to completely purge the rest of the Caravus system. After a successful Crusade the templars were off again however the Shadows had a company of marines that admired the templars method of battle and asked to accompany the templars on their next crusade - begrudgingly Mavic allowed this - on the basis that they enlisted as new recruits. This was seen as a dutiful compromise and both chapters parted ways. The Shadow company with the templars were under the command of Captain Rufan, his company gradually had templar battle tactica ground into them and found it a very effictive battle method when done as a spring of a trap, this view latter changed to the tactic of luring the enemy in was pointless. The new found view was that if you hide and remain unseen your charge will be at its greatest. after a decade span with the Templars the Shadow company returned to Ortagure in the Mevius system - Home of the raven's Shadows. Rufan and his company gradually changed the whole of his chapters combat doctrine into one closer to the one he has developed with the Black Templars. Eventually Rufan Became the chapter master and renamed the chpater the Templars Corvus ... Ferrata
What you have seems backwards and the more complicated way of doing things. Why not have a Raven Guard chapter that ends up being more like the Templars? The idea of crusades, vows, hating Psykers is a lot easier, and more realisitic, to place in a chapter than a whole switch in combat doctrine. Plus, it would make the name make more sense,.
