rodgambit
Is tempest wrath worth taking if you plan on podding your rune priest? The power says that it is used at the beginning of his turn so if he comes in on turn 1 during the movement phase could he still use the power or not? The plan is to have 5 pods in the 1500 point list with either 1 or 2 rune priest. I liked the idea of tempest wrath on turn 1 after I arrived but if that does not work then I don't think it would be worth taking. Heimdall Skullcrusher
I would think you could still use it, but even so, I dont think it would be the best application of the power. Depends what you are going against, but if you are bringing the fight to them, it probably isn't going to be as usefull as in a non-drop podding case. Here might be a good case for stormcaller to keep your newly arrived units alive (if using non-TDA troops). Also maybe the little used thunderclap or fury of the wolf spirits. Or Murderous hurricane is always good as well. EDIT: Also, Jaws could work wonders as well. Grey Mage
You have to use it at the begining of the Rune Priest movement. Wether thats actually your movement phase as the player, the drop pods movement as a reserve, or his move as he disembarks is up to debate. By the Chaos FAQ, sorcerers deepstriking can not use powers at the beginning of the turn as they are off the table. I see no reason Rune Priests or Librarians or anyother Psyker would be different. Grimtooth
Except maybe that Rune Priests are not Chaos sorcerors? How about that Chaos srocerors are not using a drop pod either? Chaos FAQ is for Chaos. Its the closest ruling we currently have. Its not perfect, but the reason is the same. Off the board, no ability to use a power until on the board. The only thing I could contradict with is for Logan's high king power and drop podding or Njal Lord of tempest power and when he is in reserve but both are special characters. @Brother Ramses the drop pod is not the issue here as Chaos Sorcerers can also deep strike with the deamon wing upgrade. JMac
I had the same question but with him arriving with skyclaws if i equipped him with a jump pack(that is if he can even jump down from the gunships with them; im a noob, so i wasnt quite sure on this ruling). I would use stormcaller and tempest wrath so it would be dually hard to hurt them.
