aye its one of the necron's biggest weakness/flaw

anything worth while i can simply ignore and go for their weaker infantry and win im launching 20+ str 8 ap 3 missiles a turn along with plasma rounds, meltas from 8 drop wolves and whatever the priest is packing the poor guy wont stand a chance.

if i faced a necron player that had either the nb, dc, or lith my first targets would always be destroyers if i cut off his speed and best heavy weapons then im already winning. next priority would be squads and lords. the bigger or stronger the target (in this codex only) the more of a weakness it is as that means less necrons and closer to phasing out.

its a sad happenstance for the necrons.

Which is why there is going to be a rework of phase out in the next necron codex. It has to be redone considering every response in almost every necron tactics thread is phase out.

I found a plastic bag with 8 metal sniper scouts and a missile launcher in my bitz box the other day. Also the old metal wolf scout sergeant with bolter (obviously a weapon modified to fire sniper rounds). Guess what my solution would be? Ten guys all wounding NB on 4+ at 36" range? He'd never see combat.

Heck I have a lot of stuff.

What everyone else has said - ignore it; it only moves 6"/7"-12" a turn (unless you let it charge you, in which case that's your own fault), so you can easily make it a roughly-400 point sink.

That being said, if you absolutely HAVE to kill it, Jaws/missile launcher and similar heavy weapon spam will generally do it, though i've found that, whatever you do, do not charge it; it leads to too much pain and death. However, those tools really are better off putting WBB-denying wounds onto the phase-out counter...

Hope this helps,

To be honest the Nightbringer is not completely avoidable, any more than the Swarm Lord is etc. Sooner or later it will get into assault with something unless killed, especially when fighting corner to corner. After all, in an objective you pretty much have to meet in the middle and Necrons do have fast units to contest your own objectives.

The idea of Phase out is reasonable though. Just be careful how you approach it, as if the Warriors are hanging back behind the NB and Scarabs etc it can be difficult to assault them directly (the easiest way for Marines to get rid of them quickly).
