Hfran Morkai
Well I was looking to create my own Wolf Priest character as they are arguably my favourite character type in the Codex. I also really wanted to emphasize the healing aspect of the Wolf Priest, as opposed to them just being superior Chaplains. Aulay the Stern was one of the first legendary Sons of Russ, recruited shortly after the Primarch was discovered upon Fenris. Aulay, like many young Fenrisians, had shown great combat prowess, living a warrior's life. However Aulay had something most other youths didn't, a burning fire of righteousness which guided his axe as a Wolf Brother. The young man rose quickly through Blood Claw to Grey Hunter, where he spent many decades practicing the arts of war. Aulay was often inspired on the eve of battle by the fiery oratories of the Wolf Priests, declaring the longevity and success of the Legion as well as the Crusade and instilling hate of those who didn't see the way of the Allfather. It was early during the Crusade when Aulay was recognized as a potential Wolf Priest, always prepared to risk himself to retrieve a packmate, whether they still breathed or had fallen in combat. The Wolf merely saw it as his duty to protect those he had passed through initiation with, determined to bring them home once more. It was after his fabled recovery of a mortally injured Wolf Guard who had been overcome by vast hordes of enemies by somehow commanding the Blood Claws nearby to lay down covering fire that the Wolf Priests approached Aulay and inducted him into another brotherhood. Under the direct tutelage of the Wolf Priests, Aulay honed his skills at arms and that of battlefield surgery, learning of the many herbs that could be used to aid healing among the Space Wolves. His tutor, Einar also taught the young Wolf Priest of certain plants found on Fenris capable of heightening even a Space Wolf's reflexes and Aulay began consuming such concoctions as teas when in his quarters, so as to keep the wizened Priest's knowledge closely guarded. In the years that passed Aulay proved himself to be a great mentor, gradually taking prospective Wolf Priests under his charge and teaching them what it truly meant to be a Priest of the Space Wolves. This training was often conducted with the impulsive Skyclaws, better for bringing out the leaders in the Wolves. Skirax
I'd suggest that you can let him be accompanied by more than one Wolf Priest, but he can still be an Independent Character. Either that, or the Wolf Priests can ditch him. I like the Saga, is very appropriate. I'd let you use him, though he is a little underpointed... Lord of the Fire Wolves
I'd say that the points are fair considering that Ulrik The Slayer is only 180 pts. Comparing the two shows that Ulrik is WS 6 and has a plasma pistol. I would say put the starting cost of Aulay at around 130 and give him the option of purchasing Wolf Tooth Necklaces and Talismans. I think that would put him as a fairly priced unit. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/203491-aulay-the-stern/#findComment-2426078 Share on other sites
