Death Guard

Recommended Posts

Hail Frateris,

Last year some time, I started a small force of Chaos Space Marines. Mostly, they were intended as Fallen Angels, so that my trusty Dark Angels had some worthwhile (and fluffy) opponents.

However, recently Onegal, the Plaguefather etc has taken my fancy (and a severe hold of my sinuses), and the 7th Legion has taken to the ground.

The plan is to have:

Typhus

Death Guard Sorceror

3x7 Death Guard squads with an Aspiring Champion and respectively 2 flamers, 2 plasma guns and 2 meltaguns.

2 Rhinos

1 Land Raider

Below is the test model for one the squads:

And here are the put together members of the 1st Squad:

And their trusty Rhino:

The technique so far is white undercoat, followed by a wash (or several) of Gryphonne Sepia. This is then drybrushed with pure white. The pauldrons and select areas of the Rhino will be green.

The yuck and rust will be the last bits added.

They are meant to have just only been touched by Nurgle, and therefore still in the livery of the original Legion.

Comments and critique is especially welcome!

Regards,

Master Ciaphas

To answer the point you made over on the nurgle thread about ways of painting, just for reference my approach is:

1 Assemble

2 Skull White basecoat spray

3 Camo Green over whole model excluding metal

4 Devlan mud wash over whole model

5 Tin bitz over metal

6 Khermi Brown over fleshy bits like plauge hives and tubes

7 bleached bone over skin (faces), bones and boils

8 red in the eyes

9 2nd wash of Devlan mud

10 drybrush of Rotting Flesh over armour (works very well on FW resin)

11 Dry brush of boltgun metal on the tin bitz areas

12 Optional dry brushing of the fleshy bits if i feel it needs it

13 Adeptus battle grey on base

14 PVA on base

15 Dip in grey flock (model railway gravel)

I find it gives me a very gritty set of colours. Its certainly not as vibrant as a 'eavy Metal model, but for nurgle in particular it works. It also scales nicely form the smallest marine right up to a tank.

These look great. I love the bases. Are they your own design or did you get them from someone that mass produces? As for the painted model the Icon looks great.

Are you planning on adding any demons at any point as I would love to see your color take on them as well.

Qué? I don't think I really get that bit about the sideburns...?

@Gubnutz - I am indeed planning on adding a bucketload of Plague Bearers - 25 in fact, of which I have painted 7 to completion so far. I think I will try to vary the colour scheme for each squad of 7 that I will be doing... :-)
