raganrkob
Hello all, this is a very quick question. I want to paint my marines blue but I want a darker blue than most ultramarines I see out there (certainly darker than GW's). Any suggestions? I have to order things through a catalogue so I don't have the chance to just go to the store and check them out. I use both citadel and vallejo paints. Thank you! ironbear
either pure regal blue or mordian blue washed with Asurman blue or badab black Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/203568-which-blue-to-use/#findComment-2426961 Share on other sites
Brother Cambrius
I personally use a Mordian Blue basecoat and Regal Blue (thinned with water) on otp to make a nice even lbue coating. Looks very good after a wash of Asurmen Blue. Cambrius Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/203568-which-blue-to-use/#findComment-2427147 Share on other sites
Brother Valerius
Pure regal blue over a black undercoat gives you an extremely dark blue. I'd try that. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/203568-which-blue-to-use/#findComment-2427505 Share on other sites
raganrkob
Thanks for the answers guys. Brother Cambrius, do you have any pics of your minis I could see? Using the SM painter I experimented a little (great tool by the way!) and regal blue was the colour I liked the most. It looks something like this How accurate is the painter? And would regal blue + shading work or would that be too much? (I know it's a very subjective question but it's just to get an idea before I buy the paints, never used them before) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/203568-which-blue-to-use/#findComment-2427668 Share on other sites

ironbear
brother cambrius how are you highlighting the previous step? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/203568-which-blue-to-use/#findComment-2428240 Share on other sites
Brother Nihm
This is actually quite dark and easy to achieve. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/203568-which-blue-to-use/#findComment-2428342 Share on other sites
Brother Cambrius
brother cambrius how are you highlighting the previous step? Well I don't really highlight that much, I let the wash do that for me normally. But if I do highlight, I use some Enchanted Blue and apply a thin wash of Asurmen Blue.
