Priest33
Twin linked ass can has as good if not a slightly better chance at av13 then a twin linked lc. LC is only better at max range and slightly better at av14. Yes 3 godhammers would ruin that list but then again 3 godhammers would ruin most mech lists.. Snozz
Twin Linked Assault Cannon has a better chance to glance and penetrate both AV13 and AV14 than a Twin Linked Lascannon. The lascannons only advantage is it's range. Other than that Assault Cannons are more effective against both infantry and vehicles. Though maybe not AV10/11, I have't look at that yet. Godhead
Str 10 and melta. Fast vindi or no, they still have to move up, also anything with tank hunters and a good gun. Once those vindi's move into reliable bombing range, I'd much rather charge them with meltaguns, meltabombs, th's etc because I seriously doubt you will be shooting those when your units are close. Vindi's go down remarkably fast simply because one weapon destroyed result makes them a ramming vehicle only. Meph is a problem, but I'd sacrifice a more expensive unit, if it was able to hold him in combat for a turn or two while I busted up everything else. Dhar'Neth
TL Assault Cannons take Vendettas out of the sky super fast. How does that work when the Vendettas are held in reserve and deep strike in with their 3 TL-Lascannon shots? Remember that after deep striking you count as moving cruising speed so you can fire only one weapon (+ all defensive).
SamaNagol
Can they not just outflank and come on from the side 6"?
Dhar'Neth
Still you will get (most of the time) at least 5+ save (thanks to sanguine shield). If you are super-worried of long range lascannon fire you can take las-tl plas razorbacks (sligthly better chance of survival). Yes - Vendettas and Land Riders are scary, but still you can win most of the time. LR's are super-expensive and you still have meltaguns and smoke to cover your advance. Remember that if he takes more than 3 Vendetta's then some will form a squadron thus are easier to destroy (immobilized=destroyed). Another tactic is to put your army into reserves as well - then the game becomes a gamble of dice. But you allways have a chance to win.

He could just come in from his own table edge even (from reserves)... and still fire all 3 TL-lascannons. Further, Sanguine Shield only has a 6" radius. In a spammy mech list like that one there is no way even half of those vehicles are gonna get that benefit, even if that is his only goal... and if he does really bunch them up than half of his guns won't have LOS and his very few troops are not capturing objectives. Also immobilized does not equal destroyed... only when the skimmer has moved 'flat out', in which case it also get's a 4+ save.
Chaplain Gunzhard
These spammy mech lists are all the rage right now because of the infamous leaf blower ... and while it might look tough on paper, the big difference is that the leaf blower was built around troops (scoring units). I could build an equally spammy list with chaos, and an even worse one with Sisters of Battle... Or a similar one with Space Marines, just exchange the 3 Baal's with 3 squads of 3 attackbikes (all with multimeltas) for the same price. This type of list has been possible for a long time... and it's never really been that successful because, at least with high costed marines/chaos, you cannot get enough scoring units. Now in the wake of the leaf blower everyone is crazy about mech spam - but it's not the same.

You shall re-read my post taking into the account 'vehicle squadron' rules. It's the second time in this topic someone posts his assumption on 'how this works' forgetting some rules. I find it amusing. ;)
SamaNagol
Immobilized counts as wrecked in vehicle squadrons.
Chaplain Gunzhard
Ahh yeh thats true but when were we talkin about squadrons? For the same cost as 3 baal preds, you can take 3 (different squads) of single Vendettas.

Chaplain Gunzhard
Eck... this is just getting stupid now. Yeh he snuck it in there, but none of the discussion had anything to do with squadrons (was my point). In either case it's still not a great list. SamaNagol
I never said it was a great list, it is however a tricky one to work your way through. And I started this thread in order to ascertain what is the best way in which to dismantle it using Blood Angels, not Leaf Blower Guard. lol
