Then there were Eldar armies that would table you in two turns flat... if they were having a bad day.

Apparently one guy did the maths, decided that point for point Orks were the most efficient army in the game, then proceeded to rip apart every opponent he played. He stopped playing when third edition came around.

I only played one game in second edition, but I remember fondly how much damage my Terminator Wolf Lord with thunder hammer, storm shield, warp jump and combat drugs could do.

Then there was the "virus outbreak" (?) strategy card that GW recommended you tear up and pretend was never printed. Useless against marines, but you could wipe out an Ork army before the game started.

Who could forget "jones is acting strangely" or snotlings finding themselves inside a suit of terminator armour and driving it in random directions.

I even had Redemptionists in Necromunda. They did suit my personality, maybe I should finish painting them. They've been sitting in my drawer for nearly ten years.

sw could win before their first turn even started , if they got the proper strategy card . the only army that was close to this was the 3ed siege company. only that was not fully legal and could be countered by eldar. SW had no soft or hard counters. they were +1WS on everythting sm with more shoting and more assault for generaly the same points or lower.

I take it you remember that in 2nd edition every Space Wolf had WS5 minimum too! And that was when having WS mattered most, unlike now!

Do you remember the Virus Grenade? Against Hoard armies they would all lose first turn if you had one of these!

Checking under my bed for the Dark Millenium box. Mmm, Virus Grenades.

Wolf Guard with WS6, Blood Claws with WS5 and +2 attacks on the charge (back when attacks didn't mean that much) which is why they have berserk charge now.

BTW what does cheese mean? Overpowered? If it is overpowered then you should try 5 TW Cavalry Thunder hammers + Storm shields. Give them Canis and Harald Deathwolf (your interpretation, but he has to be on a wolf) and they are dishing out 25 str 10 power weapon attacks on the charge, make the enemy count as I 1 until your next turn, 7 re-rollable str 5 power weapon attacks and to back that up you have Harald. This is around 800-1000 points but if you constantly stay in combat, get first turn (preferably) and avoid fire by staying in cover then riding out for the Wolftime, you will beat your enemies of any dignity they had. Ever. :verymad: :teehee:

Except you can only have one Thunder Hammer per TW squad.
