MuGGzy
I haven't played with one yet but the idea of a Lib Dread with Wings hopping around just sounds awesome. Anyone have any experiences good or bad with this new toy?
JamesI
in my experience, the best thing they do is scare the enemy into shooting it down while the rest of the force goes unscathed.
Dhx711
James1 hit it on the head. The few times I've played the Dread Lib with wings it gets fired on with everything else is just about ignored.

Could give it Shield as well then, the big base would increase the radius of the bubble as well...
glayvin34
James1 hit it on the head. The few times I've played the Dread Lib with wings it gets fired on with everything else is just about ignored. One of my main tactics is to overwhelm my opponent with priority targets so he can't chose which one to go for and ends up splitting his fire and not hurting any of them too bad. To this end, I field a Libby Dread, Mephiston and 2 vindicators. There's also assault squads and Land Speeders involved, but they usually don't do much until turn 2 and definitely don't factor into my opponent's firing solutions on turn 1. How I position them depends on my opponent's deployment, but I usually send Mephiston up the middle all alone (hopefully in cover and near a sanguinary priest), have the dread come in flanking on one side (also hopefully in cover and near a sanguinary priest) and the vindicators on the other side of the table. The opponent usually goes after the vindis and Mephiston leaving the Libby Dread to fly up faster that you would expect. I still hold the Libby Dread back as much as possible so he doesn't scare my opponent into shooting at him. Then, on turn 3 or 4, I drop him on top of an HQ or other infantry threat and bring the Might of Heroes. He doesn't kill things very fast, but he doesn't go down too fast, either. Logan Grimnar was going to contest my objective on turn 3, but my Libby Dread dropped on him and they sparred for the rest of the game. Logan didn't go down, but he wasn't able to smash the 5-man squad holding the objective 8" away, either. Another time the Dread landed close to a pack of Long Fangs, weathered their attacks the next turn, and pulverized them in subsequent turns. However, whats to say you can't run a normal libby less than 6" behind it who does happen to be running Shield.

Meracalis
It's just a psych thing. Some BA players fall prey to "new and shiny" when they're building their lists, and some of their opponents fall prey to "new and scary" on the board.
